a5ea015bc6 config PRs: document the operator merge, deploy only merges into main
docs: the config-repo `main` merge gate (merge = `core` + team
`operators`, approvals = `operators`), the operator merge in the forge
UI and what it deploys, the hand-added `operators` membership, and that
with no eval-verify a failed rebuild leaves `applied/main` at the merged
commit. The swarm README lists the converged gate and the merge deploy.

`merged()` also requires `pull_request.base.ref == "main"`: the hive
deploys its config repo's `main`, so a merge into another branch would
only cost a forge fetch and a refusal comment (argus, #4894).

2b2608a491 docs(turn-loop): move harness systemd unit shape out of agent-roster.md
Moves the "Harness systemd unit shape" section from
docs/agent-lifecycle/agent-roster.md into docs/turn-loop/README.md: it
describes the per-agent harness systemd unit (env vars, PATH wiring,
serviceConfig), which is turn-loop material, not roster material.

Fixes two facts while moving: the ExecStart package is `hive-agent`,
not `hyperhive` (no package by that name exists); and `ruth.nix`
doesn't set any forge subscription default — it only defaults
`services.hyperhive.agent.docs.enable`.

Updates the inbound pointers in docs/turn-loop/config.md and the
module comment at nix/agent-modules/agent-service.nix.

eded8f2e4e docs(agents): rename agent-hierarchy.md to agent-roster.md
Per mara's #4879 review (89815): the system has no agent hierarchy,
just a flat set scoped by the capability store, so the filename no
longer matched. The file already read "Agent roster & privileges"
after the earlier facts pass; rename it to match, and update the
four inbound references (docs/README.md, coordinator.md, config.md,
agent-service.nix).

4e31550dad docs(agents): facts pass on agent-hierarchy.md and mcp.md
mcp.md:
- matrix and subagent extra MCP servers are http (hive-matrix-daemon,
hive-subagent-daemon), not stdio; screen is the one entry that still
  uses the stdio default (nix/agent-modules/matrix.nix:290-297,
  screen.nix:22-25)
- set_status is always-on, not meta-group-gated; mark_todos_done (also
  always-on) was undocumented (hive-sh4re/src/permissions.rs:151,
  hive-agent-mcp/src/mcp/mod.rs:425)
- System messages: HelperEvent has 3 variants, not the 8 previously
listed; ApprovalResolved/ContainerCrash routing and the swarm-wide
NATS notices stream (swarm_notices.rs) replace the old per-agent
  todo-wake description for rebuilt/killed/destroyed/logged_in/needs_login
- get_loose_ends's approval rows are manager-only; PendingMessages and
UnreadMatrix were missing from the description
  (hive-sh4re/src/inbox.rs:127-184)
- subagent spawning runs on hive-runtime (claude or ACP), not
  claude-only (hive-subagent-mcp/src/session.rs:77)
- Waking section: matrix/bash/forge all moved to the in-agent todo
socket; the host Wake request has no built-in caller left today

agent-hierarchy.md:
- distinguished the swarm-wide agent roster (swarm-controller's
identity store, authoritative) from the hive-local topology.json
  (a derived, reconciled cache scoping ManageRootAgent's bind-mounts),
  linking README's framing
- noted services.hyperhive.ruthless (a hive can run with no manager at
  all)
- Wire-protocol bullet: the only privileged Request variants left are
the scheduling ops; Kill/Start/Restart/Update/GetLogs don't exist on
  this socket
- Prompt/tools: prompt::render hardcodes the agent role for every
container today (role:manager blocks are dead code); the tool
allow-list has no Flavor switch, it's HIVE_TOOL_GROUPS same as any
  agent

Not touched: agent-hierarchy.md:140-200 (Harness systemd unit shape,
kept in place — see PR follow-ups) and docs/agent-lifecycle/approvals.md
(blocked on #4853).

2c7e586f47 forge: external forge accounts live in swarm bao; the agent fetches them itself
An operator now links an agent's external forge account (label, base URL,
token) in the swarm UI. swarm-controller stores it at
swarm/agents/<agent>/forge/<label>. There is no index: the store's
listing of the agent's forge/ directory is the set of accounts.

In the agent, hive-agent-forge-accounts (oneshot + 2-minute timer, as
the agent user, under its own store certificate) lists
swarm/agents/<agent>/forge/ with the `list` #4866 grants an agent on its
own metadata subtree, reads each account, and writes
<state>/forge-<label>-token and forge-<label>.json in the names and shape
hive-forge -f already reads. An empty listing (a 404, which `bao kv list
-format=json` answers with `{}` and an empty stderr) is zero accounts; a
denial or an unreachable store fails the unit. It never deletes: files
for labels not listed, including ones the hive wrote, stay as they are.

Removed: the dashboard FORGES tab (credentials.js/html section and its
CSS), hive-c0re's extra_forges.rs and its routes, priv_client's
extra-forge calls, and hive-priv's WriteAgentExtraForgeAccount /
DeleteAgentExtraForgeAccount with their helpers. The GITHUB tab and
WriteAgentGithubToken stay.

Also: persistence.md's matrix avatar note names the exit-75 restart on a
changed account listing, not the dashboard, as what brings a linked
account up.

97fb76ce99 matrix: the agent's daemon pulls its linked accounts from bao itself
hive-matrix-daemon now learns which external matrix accounts it has from
the swarm secret store, under the agent's own certificate, and the hive
push chain for matrix is gone.

The daemon lists swarm/agents/<agent>/matrix/ (the `list` its policy
grants on its own metadata subtree), reads each account's homeserver
from its credential, and brings the accounts up with their tokens from
the store. Every two minutes it lists again and exits with 75 when the
set of linked accounts changed; the unit restarts on 75 without counting
a failure. A listed name whose credential reads as absent is skipped and
logged once. At start it removes the matrix-token-<a> /
matrix-account-<a>.json pairs a hive delivered (a sidecar marks a pair
as delivered; a declared tokenFile keeps its token).

Removed: CredentialNotice and the $SWARM.credential.* subject and NATS
grant, the controller's publish and its queue precondition on the PUT
route, hive-c0re's credential subscription arm and workers/credential.rs,
priv_client::write_agent_matrix_token, hive-priv's WriteAgentMatrixToken
and its helpers, and the daemon's state-dir account discovery.

Kept: WriteAgentGithubToken and the external-forge path
(WriteAgentExtraForgeAccount, extra_forges.rs) are untouched, and a
declared matrixAccounts tokenFile is still read when the store has no
token for that account.

5785c0024c Make agent creation swarm-only and refuse a name placed on another hive
swarm-controller's POST /api/agents now refuses (409) a name the swarm
has already placed on a different hive: a non-Destroyed declaration in
that hive's wanted state, or a SetAgentWanted node still queued for it.
The same name on the same hive is that agent being re-created and goes
through. A wanted state that cannot be read refuses (503/500) instead of
reading as "placed nowhere". Creations are serialised from that read to
the graph insert so two concurrent creations of one name cannot both
pass.

Hive-level creation is removed: hivectl `agent create` / `request-create`,
HostRequest::Spawn / RequestSpawn, the dashboard POST /api/request-spawn
route, and ApprovalKind::Spawn with its approve/resolve arms and the
approval-carrying `templates::spawn`. The swarm path (deploy request or
wanted-state sweep -> queue_first_deploy -> templates::first_deploy) used
none of them. Old `spawn` approval rows are skipped by collect_lenient,
as `init_config` rows were in a3b672d1.

policy.rs's comment on agent_object_name stated swarm-wide name
uniqueness as a fact; it now says where it is enforced and what that
check cannot see.

2252c55df8 hive-priv: create agent socket dirs on start; drop hyperhive-agents.conf
/etc/tmpfiles.d/hyperhive-agents.conf was a boot-time backstop (#2290)
that pre-created every agent's bind sources. The start preamble already
creates them for every c0re-driven start, and on this host only hive-c0re
starts agent containers. The file was also the reason the socket dir's
owner had to be declared there, which is how it spent its life at
`0777 root root` whenever the uid could not be resolved (#4742).

- hive-priv gains `EnsureAgentSocketDir { name }`, called from
`set_nspawn_flags` in every start path. It creates
`/run/hive-agent/<name>` `0751 root:root` with mkdirat relative to an
O_DIRECTORY|O_NOFOLLOW fd for the parent. An existing entry has to be a
directory (fstatat AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW); anything else is refused, and a
directory is left alone. hive-c0re's own create_dir_all went: its /run
  is read-only under ProtectSystem=strict.
- The container's `hive-agent-user-migrate` activation chowns that dir to
the agent user and sets 0751, the same way it already handles state/ and
  harness/. It refuses a symlink or non-directory there, since `test -d`
and chmod follow links. No host-side passwd parse, and no window where
  the dir is world-writable.
- `/run/hyperhive/agents/<name>` stays created by hive-c0re itself
  (`ensure_agent_runtime_dir`). It holds the `mcp.sock` that hive-c0re
binds as hive-core, so it must not become root- or agent-owned.
- The `/run/hive-agent` parent is declared in hive-priv.nix, `0755
  root:root`, instead of hive-gateway's hive-core rule. hive-priv is its
only writer now, and hive-priv's ReadWritePaths needs it to exist.
- The manager start in `ensure_root_agent` now goes through
  `converge_start_preamble` + `start_with_fallback`. It was a bare start,
so after a reboot the manager's bind sources existed only because of the
tmpfiles file, and its limits drop-in did not exist at all.
- Removed: `sync_tmpfiles`, `agent_uid_gid` / `parse_passwd_uid_gid`,
  `priv_client::sync_agent_tmpfiles`, `AgentTmpfilesEntry`, the tmpfiles
body builder and their tests, plus the three call sites.
- Legacy: hive-priv unlinks the file at every start, ignoring ENOENT.
`SyncAgentTmpfiles` stays one release as a payload-ignoring variant that
does the same unlink and returns Ok, for an older hive-c0re.

Salvaged from #4752: the boundary.md correction that nginx only dials,
because ProtectSystem=strict makes its /run read-only.

Behaviour change: a manual `nixos-container start h-<name>` right after a
reboot, before hive-c0re has started that agent, now fails on a missing
bind source instead of starting.

c6a778f666 lint: tighten atomic-write-secret.nix's header comment; fix vale contractions in persistence.md
The header comment grew to 39 lines across two audit-driven rounds,
over the 30-line comment-block-lint max. Trimmed to 30: merged the
value-as-argument rationale with its /proc/cmdline justification into
one paragraph, cut the usage example to one call instead of two, and
condensed the args paragraph — no content dropped, just restatement.

persistence.md's first-boot-migration marker paragraph used "it is"
and "there is not" — vale's Microsoft.Contractions rule (this repo's
config) wants the contracted forms, and "is not" also collides with
"is nothing" as a literal substring, which is what actually tripped
the error. Reworded to "it's" / "there's nothing", no meaning change.

Lint-only: no script logic changed, gates re-run below are all lint
checks (no module-eval, no cargo).

ed53e9abcc host-modules: write credential files atomically; agent-modules: retry a failed .claude migration
Four host glue units fetched a secret from swarm-bao and rendered it
with `> path; chmod`: a reader racing the write could see a truncated
file, and briefly one at the wrong mode before the chmod landed.
glue-matrix-bao-token.nix, glue-queue-agent-credential.nix (both
files), swarm-grafana.nix and swarm-otel.nix now write to a same-
directory temp file, set its final mode/owner, then `mv -f` it over
the target — a shared `atomic_write_secret` helper
(nix/host-modules/lib/atomic-write-secret.nix) so the five call sites
share one implementation.

The first-boot `/root/.claude` migration in nix/agent-modules/user.nix
wrote its done-marker unconditionally, so a failed `cp` (disk full,
permission error) left the marker behind and no boot ever retried the
copy. The marker is now written only when there was nothing to
migrate or the copy succeeded; `cp -an`'s no-clobber semantics already
make a retry after a partial copy safe.

85ba45b2de docs: agents' matrix accounts come from the swarm
The integration, tool, persistence and setup pages described hive-c0re
minting each agent's token into its state dir. They now describe the
swarm's appservice, its admin sender, the controller's mint and pass, the
daemon's store read and re-start timer, and the two new credential rows.
ruth's matrix account comes from the same pass once she holds the store
identity the setup page already has the operator mint.

978164dc53 nix: run the forge on one host per swarm (deploy.forgejo.enable)
Every hive with hyperhive enabled ran its own hive-forge container, and
its gateway answered forge.<swarm> with its own bridge IP, so on a
multi-host swarm each hive talked to its own forge.

deploy.forgejo.enable defaults to false and allSwarmServices sets it with
mkDefault, like authelia and bao; singleHostSwarm gets it through that.
The forge's OIDC client moves to a glue module gated on authelia, so a
split authelia/forge swarm still registers it. CI now requires the forge
on the same host, and the controller's forgeTokenFile defaults to null
where the forge is not.

f53508cb2b docs, hive-c0re: retire prose describing the removed get_loose_ends target
Follow-up to 729c5b4f42, which dropped the
`agent` parameter from get_loose_ends and deleted Capability::QueryAgentState
with it. Three prose sites still describe the interface that commit removed:

- socket_server/mod.rs's module doc claimed authority on this socket derives
from "capabilities for the hive-wide queries and tool-group membership for
the orchestration verbs". There are no capability-gated queries left —
  `git grep -n has_cap -- hive-c0re/src/socket_server/` returns nothing, and
require_group("scheduling") is the only gate in dispatch_orchestration.
- agent-hierarchy.md listed loose-ends visibility ("manager sees hive-wide,
sub-agents only their own") as one of the manager-only overrides that
"exist across hive-c0re today". It doesn't, and the sentence pointed a
reader at loose_ends.rs for owner-check logic that is no longer there.
- conventions.md's Loose-ends wire shape still spoke of "the agent-flavour
and manager-flavour requests" and "the agent-flavour list". There is one
  request shape.

No behaviour change: prose only.

d547ae58e6 docs: describe the flat container list, not a dormant tree
mara's ruling on the review: documentation describes functionality as
is. The dashboard doc carried a "Topology tree" section marked dormant,
still spelling out the indent lanes, joints and continuation bars the
renderer paints — for a renderer that, with no parent field to walk,
puts every container at depth 0 and emits no prefix column at all. A
section labelled dormant is still a section describing a feature the
code does not have.

Each one now states what the page renders today: SW4RM's C0NTAINERS is
a flat alphabetical list, one row per container, no indent and no glyph;
the tree section says nothing nests and names the code that decides so;
the selection bar lists the bulk actions it has, without a note about
the M0V3 picker it doesn't (agent-hierarchy.md's removal table is where
that record belongs).

Two more the -U15 context sweep turned up outside that section, neither
naming a removed identifier so neither reachable by grep: approvals.md
told an agent to clone "the child's" config repo, and hivectl.md sold
`agent restart` as a way round "the agent hierarchy".

336ed5a010 docs+comments: say what changed instead of tagging the tracker item
The prose added by this branch named the tracker item in seventeen
places, which check-issue-refs.sh rejects: a `#N` tag is dead weight for
anyone reading the public mirror, where no issue data exists. Each one
now states the fact it was pointing at — the parent field is gone — so
the sentence stands on its own.

Two of those lines also carried a rustdoc break: `[`write`]` in
topology.rs is ambiguous between the module's own `write` fn and the
`write!` macro, which `-D rustdoc::broken-intra-doc-links` fails. Spelled
`[`write()`]`, per rustdoc's own suggestion.

The host_config.rs rewrite is two lines rather than three so the doc
block stays under check-comment-blocks.sh's 30-line ceiling.

179f873722 docs: retire the agent hierarchy from every page that described it
The topology doc keeps its filename and its second half (manager
special-casing, harness unit shape) — both are cross-referenced from
other pages and neither is about the parent field. Its first half is
rewritten: what topology.json is now, and a table of what the removal
took with it, so a reader who finds `<parent>` or `set-parent` in an old
issue thread learns it went away rather than moved.

The dashboard's tree-rendering section is marked dormant rather than
deleted: the walk is still in swarm.js and retiring it is the frontend
owner's call.

11097ed336 remove the get_host_journal MCP tool and its capability
swarm-logs covers every host-tier unit this tool could reach, so the
second, capability-gated path into host journald earns nothing and is
removed outright rather than disabled behind a flag.

Removed end to end: the MCP tool definition + handler, the
GetHostJournal/HostJournal wire variants, hive-c0re's
dispatch_host_journal handler, the ReadHostJournal capability, and the
harness-side capability->--allowedTools gate. get_host_journal was the
only capability that mapped to an MCP tool, so allowed_capability_tools
could only ever return an empty vec; it goes too rather than linger as a
function that provably does nothing.

capabilities::has_cap/caps_for stay: #4624 gave ManageRootAgent's
bind-mount enforcement (hive-c0re/src/lifecycle/host_config.rs) a
second caller of has_cap, so they're no longer callerless once this
lands on top of it.

hive-sh4re's journal module (JournalPriority) had no consumer outside
this tool and is deleted.

An existing capabilities.json still naming read_host_journal does not
error: capabilities::prune_unknown drops unrecognised names with a
warn!, and an agent left with no capabilities has its entry removed. No
migration step is needed.

Untouched: hive-c0re/src/dashboard/journal.rs's
read_host_journal_response, which matches the name but is the private
helper behind the operator-only GET /api/journal-host dashboard route
and carries no capability check.

1c53dc1935 seed the root agent's ManageRootAgent capability on its deploy path
`roles.json` had a seeding path: `topology::reconcile_roles` granted
`can_manage_top_level_agents` to MANAGER_NAME on every meta sync, and that
role is what put every agent's state/config dir, `/applied` and `/meta` into
the root agent's nspawn binds. Collapsing the role into the capability left
the capability store with no equivalent, so the root agent would have lost
its recovery mounts at its next container rebuild — silently, and only then,
since nspawn bakes bind flags at container start.

Seed it in `ensure_root_agent`, before the create/start branch so a hive
whose root container already exists still gets the grant. Seeded once rather
than re-ensured every boot: the role kept an empty-list tombstone so a revoke
stuck, and the capability store deletes an emptied entry instead, so "no
entry for the manager" cannot tell a fresh hive from a deliberate revoke.
File existence can — every grant and revoke writes capabilities.json, even
when the result is `{}` — so the seed fires only while the store has never
been written, and is inert forever after.

The target is `lifecycle::MANAGER_NAME`, the same const the deleted role seed
used and the one definition of "the root agent" in the tree; no name literal
at the seeding site. The written string comes from
`Capability::ManageRootAgent` via `IntoStaticStr` rather than being spelled
out, so it cannot drift into a name `prune_unknown` would drop.

4f6407fdea collapse the roles.json mount grant into the ManageRootAgent capability
The hive had two spellings of "this agent may act on agents that aren't
its children": the `ManageRootAgent` capability, which nothing checked,
and a `can_manage_top_level_agents` role in a third meta store,
`roles.json`, which owned the real grant — the bind mounts that put
another agent's state (rw) and config (ro) inside the holder's
container. The two drifted independently, and with the parent/child
hierarchy removed the role's set (`parent.is_none()`) silently became
every agent while nothing said so.

Collapse them. The mount grant now hangs off
`Capability::ManageRootAgent`, looked up through the one capability
path that already exists (`capabilities::has_cap` over
`capabilities.json`) rather than a second mechanism. `roles.json` and
everything that read, wrote or reconciled it is gone, along with its
`meta.rs` staging and commit-label wiring; nothing in the tree reads
that file any more.

The enum variant keeps its name deliberately. Renaming it would turn
every `manage_root_agent` already stored in `capabilities.json` into an
unrecognised name that `prune_unknown` drops without asking. Its
meaning, not its spelling, is what changed: "may manage any agent". The
doc comment and the description string now say that.

`top_level_agents()`/`top_level_agents_in()` are replaced by
`all_agents()`/`all_agents_in()`. Under "manage any agent" the mounted
set is every agent by definition, so the code states it instead of
deriving it from a predicate that no longer discriminates — and the
call-site comment explains that, because it otherwise reads as a
widening. The holder is no longer bound as its own virtual child: that
reproduced the own-state and own-config mounts exactly, so dropping it
loses nothing.

b88a5b2430 remove the list_containers and request_update_meta_inputs MCP tools
Both agent-facing tools go away end to end, with no replacement. This is
an intentional capability removal: agents can no longer enumerate their
own subtree, and can no longer queue a meta-flake input bump.

The system prompt and docs/tools/lifecycle.md land in this same commit
on purpose. A tool named in the prompt but absent from the server makes
agents confidently call something that doesn't exist, and the failure
then surfaces far from its cause.

Removed:

- MCP registrations and bodies (hive-agent-mcp), plus the now-unused
  UpdateMetaInputsArgs.
- Wire variants Request::ListDescendants,
  Request::RequestUpdateMetaInputs and Response::Containers, plus
ContainerInfo, whose only consumer was that response.
- hive-c0re's handle_list_descendants (its whole module) and
handle_request_update_meta_inputs, the two dispatch arms, and the
require_group(agent, "approvals", ...) gate on the meta-inputs verb.
- The stream_enrich emoji entry and argument formatter.
- docs/tools/lifecycle.md (both tools it documented are gone), its two
referrers, the tool-group tables and the agent-hierarchy prose.

Tool groups are kept, deliberately. ToolGroup::Lifecycle listed exactly
one tool and now lists none — it is vestigial, but the variant stays so
existing meta/capabilities.json grants still parse; retiring it is a
separate decision. ToolGroup::Approvals also listed exactly one tool,
but the group is NOT dead: check_can_cancel_approval still gates
cancel_loose_end's approval-cancel arm on it server-side.

ApprovalKind::UpdateMetaInputs stays too. Nothing in production code
produces it any more, but pre-existing approval rows may still carry it,
and the operator's own path to a meta update is unaffected — the
dashboard's POST /api/meta-update inserts the meta_update job directly,
bypassing approvals entirely.

The two format_ack tests in hive-agent-mcp that named
request_update_meta_inputs were only using it as a label string while
exercising the generic OkWarn/Ok renderer, so they are retargeted to a
surviving tool rather than deleted.

Note hive-c0re's priv_client::list_containers is a different thing (the
host-side privileged container listing behind hive-priv) and is
untouched.

04e27c4fb6 docs: suppress reviewed write-good.Passive false positives
133 hits across 38 files, all previously classified during #4548's sweep
and deliberately left un-rewritten (predicate-adjective state/necessity
description, design-intent idiom, structural/type-description idiom,
no-single-actor topology claim, parallel-triple exception, vale
substring-match artifact — see hyperhive#4548's per-PR bodies for the
per-hit reasoning).

Wraps each one in a scoped <!-- vale write-good.Passive = NO/YES -->
pair (the supported mechanism — TokenIgnores has a known offset-drift
bug) rather than a blanket per-file or per-rule silence, so a *new*
passive-voice hit anywhere in these files still fails once the rule
gates CI (next commit). Table/list false positives (docs/swarm/credentials.md's
renewal-table cells) wrap the whole block, not each cell.

Part of #4546.

ad16f3dba5 docs: clear write-good.Passive hits in docs/agent-lifecycle/agent-hierarchy.md
3 genuine passive-voice rewrites (actor named — the operator,
hive-c0re, the harness); 5 false positives left untouched — a
design-intent idiom ('are meant to run'), a predicate-adjective state
description ('is finished'), a predicate-adjective necessity
description ('is required', the original established example for this
category), a project-planning-state description ('is planned'), and a
quoted literal error string ('must be owned by uid 0...').

18c5b5c5ad docs: clear write-good.Passive hits in matrix/persistence docs
Part of #4548 — second batch. This PR: docs/integrations/matrix.md
(18 hits), docs/agent-lifecycle/persistence.md (17 hits) = 35 more of
the 353 (99 total across the two PRs so far).

Same method as the first batch (#4551): minimal, meaning-preserving
active-voice rewrites only, no restructuring beyond what each flagged
sentence needed, no vale-off silencing.

Genuine false positives left in place, with per-file reasoning in the
PR body: predicate-adjective state descriptions ("is wedged", "is
stopped", "are unrelated", "is unaffected", "is needed"), one
design-intent idiom ("was meant to prevent" — same shape as earlier
docs-lint work), and one vale parsing artifact: "is read" flagged
inside the hyphenated compound adjective "read-only", not real passive
voice at all.

87970a8c93 mcp: remove the restart/kill/start/update/get_logs agent verbs
Container lifecycle from inside an agent goes away: an agent no longer
starts, stops, restarts or rebuilds a container in its subtree, and no
longer reads another container's journal. Those are operator actions —
the dashboard and hivectl keep their own paths to the same job-queue
and hive-priv plumbing, which is why none of that machinery is removed
here, only the five MCP verbs and what they alone reached.

What went with them: the `Request` variants and `Response::Logs` on the
agent socket, the five tool definitions and their arg structs, the four
lifecycle handlers plus `handle_get_logs`, and `require_descendant` —
the topology guard those five were the only remaining callers of.
`ToolGroup::Diagnostics` goes too: `get_logs` was its only tool, so it
would otherwise be a grantable group that grants nothing. `lifecycle`
stays, now carrying `list_containers` alone.

An agent that gets a `needs_update` or `container_crash` helper event
has no remedy of its own left, so the system prompt and the docs now
send it to the operator instead of to a tool that no longer exists.

99b141f5f2 matrix: drop the per-agent matrix.enable; accounts are the enable signal
`services.hyperhive.agent.matrix.enable` was a second source of truth for
a fact the account set already carried: after ①-③ the hive-internal
`main` account is an ordinary `matrixAccounts` entry, so "does this agent
have matrix" and "does this agent have an account" were the same question
asked twice, with the boolean able to disagree.

The option is gone and a non-empty `matrixAccounts` now gates the daemon
unit, its token path-watcher and the injected `extraMcpServers.matrix`
entry.

That is only a real condition because `matrixAccounts.main` is itself
gated: it is declared when `matrix.url != null`, never unconditionally. A
`main` with no homeserver is an account the daemon can never log in as,
so declaring one always would have made the signal trivially true and
turned matrix on for every agent in every hive. With the URL gate, the
empty set is reachable exactly for an agent the hive gave no homeserver
and whose operator declared no account of its own — the state the old
`enable = false` expressed.

Assertions: "extras require enable" is deleted, having become the
definition of the thing it checked (an external-only account with its own
homeserver is now rendered rather than rejected). `main.tokenFile` stays
pinned, re-guarded on `? main` instead of on the flag, since `main` is
absent whenever the URL is null and an unguarded index would throw there.

Both spellings of the option get `mkRemovedOptionModule`, following
../host-modules/deploy.nix's registrationTokenFile pair rather than a
silent delete: the definition whose meaning changes is `false`, and left
undeclared it would be ignored and hand the agent the tools its operator
turned off. Failing the eval with the replacement spelling is the only
outcome that cannot.

module-eval gains the three arms — URL, nothing, external-only — with the
middle one carrying why it exists: it is the only thing in the suite that
would notice `main` becoming unconditional again.

a3b672d1d5 refactor(hive-c0re): drop the request_init_config tool and InitConfig approval
swarm-controller's `InitAgentConfigRepo` node already covers config-repo
creation, so this deletes a duplicate rather than a capability; old
`init_config` rows are skipped by `collect_lenient` with no migration, by
operator decision.

3f878408f0 docs: name options by the path an operator can set, not by cfg.*
`cfg` is whatever the reading module bound it to. It does not exist in a
NixOS configuration, so a sentence naming an option as `cfg.<name>` is
correct about behaviour and unusable as an instruction — the reader has
to go find the real path.

The four sites in docs/networking/gateway.md this was filed for:

  cfg.sshPort       -> services.hyperhive.swarm.forge.sshPort
  cfg.dashboardPort -> services.hyperhive.c0re.dashboardPort
  cfg.frontend (x2) -> services.hyperhive.c0re.frontend

Sweeping docs/ for the pattern rather than the ticket's line numbers
found five more, in four other files:

  approvals.md    cfg.hyperhiveFlake        -> services.hyperhive.c0re.hyperhiveFlake
  matrix.md       cfg.registrationTokenFile -> services.hyperhive.deploy.matrix.registrationTokenFile
  matrix.md       cfg.gatewayHost           -> services.hyperhive.swarm.matrix.gatewayHost
  conventions.md  cfg.dashboardPort         -> services.hyperhive.c0re.dashboardPort
  gotchas.md      cfg.dashboardPort         -> services.hyperhive.c0re.dashboardPort

matrix.md is the clearest case for doing this at all: its two `cfg.`
references resolve to *different* option trees — `deploy.matrix` and
`swarm.matrix` — so the shorthand is ambiguous even within one file.

Each path is read off the `mkOption` that declares it plus the
`options.services.hyperhive.*` root it sits under, with the indentation
checked so a nested block cannot have been missed. `cfg.frontend` is
declared in hive-c0re, not the gateway: the gateway module binds
`cfg = config.services.hyperhive.gateway`, which has no `frontend`.

Deliberately unchanged: docs/networking/snapshot-store.md:136, where
`cfg.port` sits inside a ```nix block quoting module source. `cfg` is
correct there, and rewriting it would make the snippet wrong.

f22791b7a4 docs: clear the remaining error-level vale lints
Per #4128 (mara: allow-everywhere false positives go in a central
list, otherwise fix in source). Testing surfaced better fixes than
the plan posted on the issue:

- 5x Microsoft.Contractions 'that is' idiom false positives: adding
the missing comma ("that is, ...") both reads better and satisfies
the rule's own negative-lookahead, so no suppression is needed at
  all. Fixed in docs/integrations/forge.md, docs/tools/forge.md,
  docs/tools/hivectl.md, docs/web-ui/dashboard.md, and
  swarmctl-cli.md's generated source (swarmctl/src/main.rs, doc
  comment regenerated via markdown-docs).
- persistence.md's 'is not' matching inside 'is nothing': reworded to
'there'\''s nothing' rather than add any exception -- dodges the trap
and is a genuine contraction besides.
- ca.md's 'it is' matching inside the already-correct 'it isn'\''t':
tried a central .vale.ini TokenIgnores entry first per the
allow-everywhere framing, but testing against the real file (not
just a synthetic snippet) found it silently fails to suppress
whenever markdown emphasis syntax appears earlier in the same
file -- an offset-drift bug in how Vale applies TokenIgnores, not
a config mistake. Reworded to "it'\''s not" instead, same fix
  shape as persistence.md.
- config.md's 3 genuine Microsoft.Avoid 'backend' exceptions (already
flagged and accepted on #4139 -- an actually-pluggable LLM API
provider, matching the nix option's own name, not one internal
system to name): scoped inline vale suppression around just that
section, since this one really is context-specific rather than a
  rule bug.

Verified: fresh 'vale docs/ --minAlertLevel=error' is 0 errors AND
0 warnings (was 10 errors). nix fmt 0 changed beyond the edits
themselves. pre-push lints (tracker-tag/comment-block/doc-pointer)
clean. cargo clippy -p swarmctl -- -D warnings clean. Diffed the
regenerated swarmctl-cli.md against the old copy to confirm only
the intended line moved.

29927b7dfe docs: name the specific daemon instead of the vague 'backend'
Per mara's ruling on hyperhive#4041 (Microsoft.Avoid): 'backend' never says
which system it means. Fixed all 21 fixable hits to name the actual daemon
(mostly hive-c0re; one hive-agent instance and one hive-matrix-daemon one,
both confirmed against surrounding context, not guessed). Also tightened
Weston's own 'VNC backend'/'RDP backend' plugin references to their literal
upstream names (vnc-backend/rdp-backend) rather than dropping the accurate
term entirely, and reworded one unrelated Microsoft.Avoid hit ('and so on').

Left alone (flagged on the issue, not guessed): docs/turn-loop/config.md's
3 remaining hits match the actual nix option name (backendEnvironmentFile)
and describe a genuinely pluggable concept (which LLM API provider), not
one specific internal system.

0ad0376fe3 docs: fix genuine passive-voice hits in docs/agent-lifecycle
Ninth batch of the ongoing write-good.Passive pass (hyperhive#4042):
read all 75 hits across agent-hierarchy.md/persistence.md/approvals.md
in context and rewrote 46 with a clearly nameable actor -- mostly
hive-c0re, a specific fn/type named right there or a sentence or two
earlier (approvals.md's numbered "Reminder delivery" list all share
hive-c0re as the established actor across three consecutive bullets),
or "the worker"/"the daemon" reused from the section's own established
subject.

Left 29 alone. Recurring buckets: predicate-adjective state pairs
("is wedged"/"is stopped", "is unaffected", "are unrelated", "is
overloaded" -- matches the established "is trusted"/"is privileged"
family), negative-capability/invariant idioms ("no X is needed",
"can't be removed/started", "no such transient was cleared"),
forward-looking design-intent statements about not-yet-built
enforcement (agent-hierarchy.md's whole "Planned topology semantics"
section leans on this: "are meant to run", "once enforcement is
finished", "will be gated"), the "audit trail, not cache" policy
invariant restated twice verbatim ("Approvals are kept forever" /
"indefinitely" -- left both alone consistently), and a config-
conditional state idiom ("when interval_seconds is set"). One more
false-positive tokenization, same bug as knowledge.md's earlier case:
persistence.md's "`config` is read-only" trips vale's "is read" match
inside the compound adjective -- not a real passive at all.

One deliberately-conservative leave: agent-hierarchy.md's "Reminder
cancellation is handled fully in-agent" had an ambiguous actor (the
in-agent socket vs. the hive-c0re source file the doc points readers
to for detail) -- left alone rather than risk a wrong attribution,
unlike the higher-confidence rewrites elsewhere in the same batch.

Verified via vale before/after: 75 -> 29 write-good.Passive hits,
exactly the 29 left alone above; error count and other warning
categories unchanged. Re-read every changed line in full surrounding
context after editing before running the final vale check.

a8fb08a7e8 docs: fix Microsoft.UIVerbs findings (click -> select)
Part of #4041's forgotten remainder (UIVerbs was scoped as pure
execution work, no decision needed -- see comment 71586).

29 genuine input-device-neutral rewrites ("click"/"clicking"/"clicked"
-> "select"/"selecting"/"selected", a few reworded where a direct verb
swap didn't read naturally: "one click from the hub" -> "one step from
the hub", "click straight from X into Y" -> "go straight from X into
Y", "the operator never clicked" -> "the operator never triggered").

Left 5 hits unfixed, each read in context and genuinely not a
device-assumption problem:
- docs/process/gotchas.md:439 -- "click-to-unlock screen" names a
specific OS lock-screen pattern, not an instruction to the reader.
- docs/web-ui/agent.md:377 -- "clicks" describes literal RFB pointer
events forwarded by hive-screen-mcp's sendPointer, genuinely
  mouse-specific.
- docs/web-ui/agent.md:78 -- "ctrl/middle-click" names a specific
  keyboard-modifier + mouse-button combination with no "select"
  equivalent.
- docs/web-ui/dashboard.md:741 -- explicitly contrasts "click (or
Enter/Space)" as two named input methods; replacing "click" with
"select" would conflate the two the sentence is distinguishing.
- docs/web-ui/shape.md:253 -- "swipes in from the right" describes the
panel's own slide animation, not a user touch gesture.

Verified: fresh `vale --filter '.Name == "Microsoft.UIVerbs"' docs`
after the fix shows exactly those 5, `nix fmt` reports 0 changes.
