589ace3438 agent term: add a setting to hide debug-level output
hyperhive#4008, mara: 'add a setting to not display verbose output...
like the grey colored debug stuff.'

Same shape as the existing expand-tool-output preference
(ExpandDetailsSetting.tsx): a new shared/src/prefs.ts key pair
(getHideDebugPref/setHideDebugPref), a new settings-menu-row component
owning its own state (HideDebugSetting.tsx, not a prop threaded through
the shared SettingsMenu component — per mara's earlier review on the
first one, more per-page options as props there is how that component
accumulates cruft), mounted next to ExpandDetailsSetting in Root.tsx.

Row.tsx skips (returns null for, not CSS display:none) any TermMsg
whose level is 'debug' when the pref is set — matches the muted 'debug'
row this issue is about (see docs/web-ui/terminal-rendering.md's Levels
table). Read live per-row, same as expand-details, so toggling applies
to newly streamed rows in an already-open tab without a reload; already
-rendered rows are unaffected either way, same non-retroactive
precedent the existing preference already sets.

39b95c2ede treefmt: apply prettier
Pure `nix fmt` output from the commit before this one — no hand edits.
203 files: 52 md, 42 tsx, 32 js, 32 css, 21 ts, 13 html, 8 json, 3 mjs.

Reproduce with `nix develop -c nix fmt` on the parent commit; the result
should be byte-identical to this tree.

None of the 13 `.prettierignore` entries appears here — verified by
intersecting the changed-file list against the ignore file, with a
control proving the intersection finds a match when one exists.

caf5896303 docs: repoint every reference the docs/ reorg left dangling
`docs/` was reorganised into topic subdirectories and the references to it
were not moved with it. Thirteen distinct paths and three relative links no
longer resolved, spread across nix, css, html, js, markdown and
.prettierignore — a stale pointer is not a markdown problem, it is wherever
someone wrote a path down.

Each mapping resolved to exactly one target. `docs/matrix.md` was the sole
ambiguous basename: .prettierignore lists `docs/tools/matrix.md` separately
and that entry still resolves, so the stale one is the integrations doc.

The three relative links were each one `../` too deep — from `<crate>/src/`
two levels reach the repo root. `hive-agent/src/login.rs` already had the
correct form, in the same crate, at the same depth.

.prettierignore is repointed rather than dropped, though nothing in the tree
runs prettier: no treefmt entry, no CI job, no package script. Whether that
config should exist at all is a separate question from whether it names
files that do.

5b27aa18c2 docs: repoint eighteen pointers whose section no longer exists
`check-doc-refs.sh` resolves the PATH half of a `docs/x.md::Section`
pointer and stops there. The section half rots the same way, and more
quietly: the file still exists, so every path-shaped check stays green
while the pointer names nothing.

Eighteen sites, five distinct pointers, each retargeted at a heading
verified to exist rather than at the nearest plausible one:

  docs/web-ui.md::Container row
    -> docs/web-ui/dashboard.md::Container row
  docs/web-ui.md::Shared terminal pane
    -> docs/web-ui/shape.md::Shared terminal pane
Both sections moved out when docs/web-ui.md became a two-heading
index. The path still resolves, which is exactly why nothing
      caught them.

  approvals.md::Helper events to the manager
-> approvals.md::Helper events to the submitting agent
Renamed with the manager special-casing removal; the pointer kept
      the old vocabulary.

  approvals.md::Migration from the pre-tag
    -> approvals.md::Startup migrations (older hosts)
Same content, including the HIVE_SKIP_META_MIGRATION kill switch
      the citing comment names.

  agent-hierarchy.md::Current state
    -> ::Where the tree lives   (topology.rs, container_view.rs)
    -> ::Reparenting            (topology.rs's set_parent, host-sock)
Split by what each site actually asks for rather than repointed
uniformly: two want the format and the source-of-truth rule, two
      want the reparenting validation.

Three known-dead pointers are deliberately left alone:

  * `docs/integrations/forge.md::Sources` sits on a line PR #3927
rewrites; fixing it here would conflict for no gain.
  * `docs/web-ui/shape.md::One unified channel` names real text that is
bold inline rather than a heading — which of those counts as
resolvable is the open question on #3922.
  * `persistence.md::Harness state files` should point at a heading
whose own text contains backticks, and the backticked-pointer form
cannot nest them. That is a limit of the convention, not a typo.

Comments only; no behaviour change. Refs #3922.

f625151556 frontend: trim narrated-history comment in packages/shared/Badge.tsx
Continues #3901 (dashboard/#3906, agent+swarm-ui/#3917, this closes out
the packages/shared slice — jobq-graph was already done separately).
Scanned the rest of shared/src for the same 'used to be X, now Y'

attribute history, hive-side-panel.js's one-word /* legacy */ comment)
are load-bearing or too trivial to touch.

03d1552746 jobq-graph: animate new-node mount and state-change flash
Two of the three motion gaps mara flagged on the swarm-ui jobs graph
(the third, node status changes as a tree of nesting divs rather than
a node-link diagram, has no edges to animate today — see the issue
thread for that scoping correction).

- New node mount: .jg-node gets a fade+slide-in keyframe. No JS change
needed — Preact only creates a new .jg-node DOM node when its key
(the node id) is genuinely new, so this only plays on first
  appearance, not every fetch re-render.
- State change flash: NodeView tracks each node's previous state via
a ref; on a real change it adds .jg-state-flash to the glyph span
(removed on animationend), driving a scale pulse.

Both follow the same three-rule motion-guard shape as Shell.css's
shell-page-enter / LinksMenu.css's links-menu-popover-enter.

mara (issue #3817): remove the home link + page, put the setting toggle into the Y3R C4LL tab. Deleted settings.html/.js/.css; the browser-notification toggle (the only content there) now renders as a ◆ PR3F3R3NC3S ◆ section under Y3R C4LL's approvals/inbox, wired the same way (NOTIF.bind()/NOTIF.show() in common.js — no behavior change, just a new mount point). Updated build.mjs's entry lists and every doc/comment that pointed at the old page.

5eefaa951d Simplify terminal message shape to a uniform TermMsg
Move terminal-row classification server-side into a new
hive-agent/src/term_msg.rs, replacing the old JSON-mutation
enrich()/stamped-field approach in stream_enrich.rs with one
uniform wire shape: {icon?, level: debug|info|warn|error, summary,
body?, body_format?: markdown|diff, coalesce_key?}. No more per-row
`kind` tag or raw claude-JSON passthrough — every row is the same
shape, with structural identity carried by icon + summary text
instead of a CSS class per row kind.

hive-agent/src/web_ui/stream.rs's history + SSE endpoints now both
call term_msg::classify() and serve TermEnvelope{ts, seq?, msgs}
frames; events that classify to zero rows (agent-state changes,
drop-noise) never reach the wire.

Frontend: classifyEvent.ts collapses from a large per-tool dispatch
tree to a thin TermMsg -> StreamRow adapter. streamRow.ts/Row.tsx
drop the now-dead meta/childText fields. terminal.css switches from
a dozen-odd per-row-kind classes to four level-based color rules.
Expand/collapse of a bodied row is now a uniform client-side
decision (the operator's preference), no server-side per-tool
override.

docs/terminal-rendering.md rewritten to match.

f14056996e terminal: catch the remaining stale ask/answer references
argus, reviewing PR#3793: a third stale ask mention survived in the
same file/table the first pass touched (docs/terminal-rendering.md's
icon legend) — tool_icon() has no ask/answer arm at all, confirmed by
reading the function directly. Swept the whole tree this time instead
of trusting the earlier narrow grep: found three more —
docs/web-ui/dashboard.md's S3TT1NGS section still documented the
expand-tool-output toggle as living on the dashboard, which moved to
the per-agent page's own SettingsMenu popover in #3780 and was never
followed up here; markdown.ts/streamRow.ts/terminal.css had the same
send/ask/answer/recv phrasing as the original two comments.

33fafc8c19 settings menu: replace showExpandDetails prop with a children slot
mara, reviewing PR#3780's showExpandDetails boolean prop: "you cannot
just add it like this - if we have more and more options there in
different places we will keep accumulating cruft in the shared
component." SettingsMenu now exposes a plain children slot instead;
the agent page owns its expand-tool-output row entirely (state,
storage, markup) in its own ExpandDetailsSetting component and passes
it in, so the shared component never learns that setting exists.

385d4b6fd7 agent term: move expand-tool-output setting into its own settings popup
mara, #3778: the toggle lived on the separate hive-dashboard's
/settings.html even though it's agent-terminal-only. Moved it into
SettingsMenu (shared with swarm-ui) behind an opt-in showExpandDetails
prop — only the agent page passes it, matching her caution that the
component is shared but this setting isn't.

Also found and fixed a real regression while touching this: the
Preact rewrite's classifyEvent.ts hardcodes defaultOpen: true only for
the always-open markdown-bearing rows (send/ask/answer/recv) and never
reads the preference at all for the rows it's actually meant to
control (diffs, plain tool output, long errors) — so the toggle
currently has zero effect on the live page. Wired
getExpandDetailsPref() into those four sites; the always-open rows are
untouched, matching the documented pre-rewrite behavior.

Converted prefs.js to prefs.ts (TS couldn't resolve types for a plain
.js import) — same public @hive/shared/prefs.js export path, matching
how badge.js/icons.js etc. already map a .js export name to a
.tsx/.ts source file.

b1254f89cd shared dropdown: don't reopen when the trigger is clicked while open
mara, #3775: clicking a badge with its own dropdown open reopens it
instead of closing it. Root cause: the outside-click listener only
excludes the dropdown's own ref, not the sibling trigger that opened
it — a click on the trigger closes via that listener (pointerdown
fires first), then the trigger's own onClick toggle fires straight
after and reopens it, since its closure reads the pre-close state.

Dropdown now takes an optional anchorRef (the trigger's wrapper,
which callers already have for CSS positioning) and excludes it from
the outside-click check too — the same shape MetaNav's own hand-rolled
popover already uses correctly. Wired into StatusChips's Picker +
StatusMenu and swarm-ui's ComponentsPage demo (the only three Dropdown
consumers).

Verified two ways: reverted the fix, rebuilt, confirmed the bug
reproduces via a raw-CDP interaction test (two real clicks dispatched
through headless chromium, not just a static screenshot); restored
the fix, rebuilt, confirmed it passes.

3405ba2422 shared badge: fix inconsistent height on glyph-carrying badges
mara: 'thinking badge size is bigger for some reason'. Several badges
fold a leading glyph straight into their value text (STATE_LABELS'
emoji in Root.tsx, the pause/resume glyphs) rather than using Badge's
dedicated icon prop, and an emoji's (or its tofu fallback's) own
line-box commonly exceeds the surrounding text's line-height: 1.4 in
most fonts, inflating just that badge's height against its siblings.

Fix: line-height: 1 on .ui-badge-value forces every badge back to the
same box regardless of which glyph a given state happens to carry.
Verified with a real headless-chromium repro of the exact thinking/
pause height mismatch from her screenshot, before and after.

760e5ad4cc badge: fix quiet-variant regression under an explicit theme override
argus review: the two :root[data-theme='...'] glass-override rules
have specificity 0-3-0 (:root + [data-theme] + .ui-badge), beating
.ui-badge-quiet's 0-1-0 — so whenever a user has an explicit theme
override set (not just relying on prefers-color-scheme), these rules
reintroduced a fill on quiet badges, regressing the settings/links
trigger fix. Scope both overrides with :not(.ui-badge-quiet).

Verified with a real repro (same synthetic striped-bg test page,
before/after) rather than just the specificity arithmetic.

79a689364b badge: frosted-glass fill for the default filled variant
Translucent color-mix background + backdrop-filter blur/saturate,
same recipe as the header chrome/terminal glass (chrome.css,
terminal.css). Dark (mocha) palette only: applies the glass look to
the default filled badges, keeps light (latte) mode's plain solid
fill unchanged since a bright/busy background behind a badge would
lose legibility from the same transparency that helps on a dark
background. variant="quiet" badges are untouched (they already have
no permanent fill to frost).

Verified with a synthetic striped-background test page (raw CSS
against colors.css/theme.css/Badge.css, not the bundled app) to make
the blur/transparency visually obvious, plus real headless-chromium
screenshots of the built agent + swarm-ui dist to confirm no
regression against real content — the effect is real but subtle
there since the chrome background is flat, which is expected.

e1aae29068 badge: add a quiet variant for icon-only header triggers
Badge's default look is a filled pill, right for status/picker chips
but wrong for an icon-only header button like the settings gear or
agent links trigger, which should read as chrome. Add variant='quiet'
(same naming/shape as Button's ButtonVariant) that drops the idle
background, keeping the existing hover/expanded feedback.

Apply it to the two icon-only Badge triggers: shared SettingsMenu
(used by both swarm-ui and the agent page) and the agent page's own
MetaNav links trigger. Add a components-page showcase sample so the
variant has a visible regression check going forward.

4175ae86e3 icons: restore inline-SVG link/gear icons, share them across all three pages
Fixes a regression + a longer-standing inconsistency (mara: "agent
page link icons is different from swarm ui, settings icon looks weird
since component extract").

- The `SettingsMenu` shared-component extraction swapped swarm-ui's
original inline-SVG gear trigger for a plain `⚙` text glyph (matching
agent's `MetaNav`, which was itself still on the `🔗` emoji at the
time). An emoji/text glyph is rendered by the OS/browser's own font
at that font's fixed metrics — it can never match a neighbouring
icon in size or weight, and some codepoints (the gear included)
aren't even reliably covered by every font.
- New `@hive/shared/icons.js` (`GearIcon`, `LinkIcon`) — the exact SVG
markup that used to live only in swarm-ui's `SettingsMenu`/
`LinksMenu` as two separate inline copies, now the one shared source.
- `SettingsMenu` (shared) uses `GearIcon`; agent's `MetaNav` and
  swarm-ui's `LinksMenu` both use `LinkIcon` — three consumers, one
  rendering path, matching stroke/viewBox/size everywhere.

Verified with real screenshots on both agent and swarm-ui — both
trigger icons render as the same crisp line-icon style now.

9720bdfad0 settings: move the theme/motion panel into @hive/shared, add motion to agent
Review feedback on this PR (mara): "i think the component should be
shared. motion setting is missing." Both addressed:

- `settings-storage.ts` (generic localStorage hook), `theme-apply.ts`,
`motion-apply.ts`, and `SettingsMenu.tsx`/`.css` all move from
  swarm-ui's `lib/`/`shell/` into `@hive/shared/src/settings/` —
agent's previous local copies are deleted outright rather than kept
as a second implementation. One component, `Badge` trigger
everywhere (already used elsewhere in swarm-ui, so not a new visual
language there either) — storage keys stay caller-owned (`themeKey`/
  `motionKey` props + matching `useApplyThemeOverride`/
`useApplyMotionOverride` calls at each package's single mount point)
so agent and swarm-ui keep fully independent, non-colliding
  persisted settings.
- Agent's settings menu now includes the motion row, matching
swarm-ui's. No animation in the agent package is gated behind
`data-motion` yet — same as when swarm-ui first built this plumbing
ahead of having a consumer — so it's currently inert there, ready for
whenever agent grows a motion-guarded animation.
- swarm-ui's own theme default flips to `'dark'` as part of this move
(`theme-apply.ts`'s new default), superseding PR #3715 — that PR
becomes redundant once this lands and will be closed rather than
merged, to avoid the two colliding on the same file.

Verified end-to-end with real screenshots on both pages: shared
component renders identically (Badge trigger, theme+motion rows, dark
default) on agent's mock server and a static rebuild of swarm-ui's
dist.

51a9262202 theme: add --muted-on-dim, a --muted anchored to --purple-dim instead of --bg
--muted is color-mix()'d toward --base00/--bg — correct for dimmed text
on the page background, wrong for dimmed text sitting on the elevated
--purple-dim fill (badge/dropdown-item backgrounds). Badge's label/caret
used bare --muted there and mara measured it at ~1.3:1 contrast against
her theme's badge fill, essentially invisible.

--muted-on-dim mixes toward --purple-dim instead, same contrast-floor
technique as --muted itself, just anchored to the surface it's actually
used on. Applied to .ui-badge-label/.ui-badge-caret and to Dropdown's
active-item description (same bug: its row bg is --purple-dim too).

Ceiling note: even plain --fg only reaches ~3.4:1 against --purple-dim
in mara's theme, short of formal 4.5:1 AA — that's the theme's own
limit, not something the anchor choice can fix on its own. 90% gets
close to that ceiling (~3:1, more than double the old ~1.3:1) while
keeping a hint of the label/value visual distinction.

3e4ffa9312 badge: mix accent color into --fg for a contrast floor on any theme
Badge.css's colored-value classes (positive/warning/negative/accent)
used the raw semantic accent color directly on --purple-dim, same class
of bug already fixed by hand for the bundled Latte palette (see
colors.css's comment on --latte-base08..0F) but never applied to an
arbitrary stylix-fed scheme. Blend each accent 60/40 with --fg via
color-mix() instead of using it bare -- --fg is the one color the
base16 contract already guarantees legible on every surface, so mixing
toward it gives every accent a contrast floor without trying to
compute/fix an operator's own theme.

638e1ac2c6 swarm-ui: delete StatusChip, migrate its 3 callers to shared Badge
mara: non-interactive Badge and StatusChip render identically (same
padding/radius/font, same tone-to-color mapping) and StatusChip's
4-tone/single-label shape is a strict subset of Badge's — no real
reason to keep both. Deletes StatusChip.tsx/.css, migrates AgentsPage's
config-PR chip, HivesPage's freshness chip, and ComponentsPage's own
table-status sample to Badge (tone/value, no onClick). Also drops the
now-redundant standalone StatusChip demo section on /components (the
Badge section already covers all 4 former chip tones plus accent).

Updated the two stale StatusChip references outside swarm-ui too:

62cc0620c8 Add Badge + Dropdown Preact components, demo on swarm-ui /components
New shared Preact primitives for the per-agent terminal redesign:

- Badge (@hive/shared/badge.js): a labelled status pill. Plain <span>
when static (e.g. "alive"), a real <button> with a disclosure caret
when given onClick (e.g. opens a Dropdown, or toggles itself in
place). Same component either way so a status row reads as one
consistent set of badges regardless of which are interactive.
- Dropdown (@hive/shared/dropdown.js): a small option list anchored
directly under whatever opened it (no portal, no native <dialog> —
see the file comment for why). Closes on outside click or Escape.

This is the fix for the design guide's own named anti-example: the
agent page's model/effort pickers live in the overflow menu while the
current model/effort only show as a disconnected chip. Badge+Dropdown
composed together is that control moved inline, next to what it shows.

Demoed on swarm-ui's /components page: all Badge tones, a label-prefixed
badge, an interactive badge that opens a Dropdown (model-picker shape),
and an interactive badge that toggles itself (pause/resume shape).

Both packages build + tsc --noEmit clean.

6a01850096 swarm-ui: fix inconsistent header icons + body edge gap
LinksMenu and SettingsMenu triggers mixed a full-colour emoji (link)
with a plain text glyph (gear) - different rendering paths mean
different, unfixable sizes/styles. Replace both with matching inline
SVG icons (feather/lucide gear + link glyphs), same viewBox/stroke/
size, so the two buttons finally share one rendering path.

Also: shared base.css never zeroed the default UA body margin, which
showed as a bg-coloured strip around the whole viewport edge on any
full-bleed header (swarm-uis .shell-header among them). Zeroed it in
the shared file so every consumer (dashboard, agent UI, swarm-ui) gets
the fix, not just swarm-ui.

Screenshot-verified at both desktop and phone widths.

afe627e0a9 swarm-ui: derive theme override from colors.css instead of duplicating hex values
mara's review: the theme override read as a hand-copied duplicate of
colors.css's hex values instead of deriving from it. Restructured
colors.css to declare each palette's 16 hex values exactly once
(--mocha-baseNN, --latte-baseNN) and have every activation block
(the default, the prefers-color-scheme media query, and two new
:root[data-theme='light'|'dark'] blocks) just re-point the active
--baseNN slot at one of those two raw palettes via var() - never a
second copy of a hex value.

theme-apply.ts simplifies to match: it now only toggles a data-theme
attribute on <html>, same shape motion-apply.ts already had. No
palette values live in JS at all anymore.

Re-verified the override still genuinely outranks the media query
with the new mechanism: same seed-localStorage-while-forcing-the-
opposite-OS-preference test as before, both directions still render
the stored override correctly.

72e087b086 swarm-ui: fix WCAG contrast failures in the light-theme accent slots
argus review: the literal Catppuccin Latte accent hexes (base08-0F)
fail badly as StatusChip fill-text (green/amber/red/yellow on
--purple-dim/base03: 1.4:1-3:1, need 4.5:1) and even as plain text on
--bg/base00 in the agent/dashboard packages that also import this file
(2.3:1-4.8:1). Root cause: Latte's own accents are calibrated against
Lattes near-white base/crust, not a mid-gray surface1; the Mocha row
does not hit this because Mochas pastel accents are already light, so
they contrast fine against a dark surface1 - Lattes saturated-but-mid
accents do not have the same headroom against Lattes own lighter
surface1.

Fix: darken each accent slot from stock Latte (same hue/saturation,
lower HSL lightness via binary search) until real WCAG contrast against
base03 clears 4.5:1 with margin - verified this also clears >7:1
against base00, so both the swarm-ui chip case and the plain-text case
elsewhere are covered by one set of values. base00-07 stay stock Latte
(no contrast role, just surfaces/foreground). Yellow and peach read
closer to olive/brown than a bright yellow/orange once darkened this
far - an inherent property of darkening a warm hue in sRGB, not a
mapping mistake; boosting saturation further did not rescue it
(checked).

Verified with headless-chromium screenshots against the built swarm-ui
bundle: StatusChip text (the exact case argus flagged) and every chip
tone on /components now read clearly.

56e7a309e8 swarm-ui: respect prefers-color-scheme for a light theme default
colors.css shipped one fixed dark (Catppuccin Mocha) palette with no
light variant and no OS/browser-preference detection, so anyone
without a stylix-managed session (a phone browser, a future PWA
install) got the dark palette regardless of their light-mode
preference. This is an accessibility gap, not a cosmetic one - some
people need light for low-vision/contrast reasons, others need dark
for photosensitivity, the same reasoning that already gates
prefers-reduced-motion elsewhere.

Add a Catppuccin Latte row behind `@media (prefers-color-scheme:
light)`, ported through the identical base16 slot mapping (including
the existing sky-over-teal base0C substitution) so a swap between the
two rows never changes what a slot means. A stylix-generated
colors.css replaces the file wholesale with a single unconditional
:root block and has no media query in it, so a themed deployment is
unaffected either way.

Verified with headless chromium screenshots forcing both
prefers-color-scheme values against the built swarm-ui bundle - both
render with correct contrast, and the default (no forced preference)
render matches the light row.

62d1c6224b frontend: fix api-error.ts's stale in-transition comment
atlas, on the issue: swarm-controller's problem+json conversion merged
(58588a68, closing hyperhive#3412 which this comment referenced as an
in-flight fix). Every first-party API is RFC 9457 now, so the non-JSON
fallback path is not backend-transition compatibility anymore — it's for
bodies this repo didn't author (a caller pointed elsewhere, or an
nginx-synthesised 502/504 that never reaches our handlers). Comment
updated to say that instead of pointing at a transition that's already
finished.

ca84079a21 frontend: add WarnBanner Preact component, compose ApiErrorPanel from it
mara, on review: "i want each component to import its own css file
itself[;] if you need a bunch of extra css externally, its not a proper
component ... you may need to migrate other components that you would
want to use first".

WarnBanner is the Preact-component successor to the shadow-DOM
<hive-warn> custom element (same three-tier info/warning/error visual
language, colours copied faithfully from hive-warn.css). ApiErrorPanel
now composes it instead of owning a copy of the border/colour/pulse
rules itself — its own CSS is back down to just the layout that's
actually specific to it (heading, copy button, detail text).

Re-verified with a fresh mock-server screenshot: same rendered output as
before, now via composition instead of a duplicated banner shape.

f60aab4717 frontend: shared ApiErrorPanel component, promote readApiError from credentials.js
Closes #3410.

`ApiErrorPanel` renders a ProblemDetails (RFC 9457) error nicely, with a
copy button so the full text can be pasted straight into a bug report.
No truncation of `detail` — on the #3363 incident that motivated this
issue, that string was the entire diagnosis.

`readApiError`/`problemMessage`/`ProblemDetails` are promoted out of
credentials.js's original `readErrorBody` into `@hive/shared/api-error.js`
(comment rewritten: the RFC 9457 rework has already landed everywhere
except swarm-controller's status route, #3412 in flight, so the raw-text
fallback is a compat shim for that one gap, not a general transition).
credentials.js's 4 call sites switch to the shared reader (kept as
one-line messages there, its result slots are single-line aria-live
regions, not a panel context).

Wired ApiErrorPanel into OverviewPage.tsx (the issue's own worked
example) and CreateAgentPage.tsx (second real call site).

Not built on <hive-warn> despite matching its visual language — that
custom element's CSS-as-text import only works under a build with
loader: 'text' for .css (dashboard's), and silently renders unstyled
under swarm-ui's default css loader (filed separately as #3415).
ApiErrorPanel is a self-contained light-DOM component instead, per
mara's own suggestion to keep it independent of the old UI's shapes.

075d1f63e3 apply the same render(h(...)) simplification to JobqGraph
mara, follow-up on PR#3365: "follow up with the same for jobq". Drops
mountJobqGraph the same way mountJobqRollup was dropped - builds.js
now calls render(h(JobqGraph, {...}), root) directly, split into
mountRebuildQueue() (the one-time replaceChildren() + first render,
called once at page init) and renderRebuildQueue() (the render-only
path the rebuild_queue_changed handler and the cancel flow reuse,
bumping a module-level jobqGraphToken instead of holding a mount
handle). The split matters here specifically: repeating
replaceChildren() on every refresh would wipe Preact's own tracked
children out from under its diffing instead of letting it update them
minimally - JobqRollup's simpler version didn't need this since it
only ever renders into its own dedicated section once per app
lifetime's worth of state, but the rebuild queue refreshes on every
`rebuild_queue_changed` tick.

Re-verified: npm run build (whole workspace) + swarm-ui typecheck
clean (JobqGraph is also used via JSX on swarm-ui's /jobs page,
untouched by this), comment-block + issue-ref lints clean, headless-
chromium screenshot of builds.html's R3BU1LD QU3U3 tab against a
mocked /api/jobq/graph payload - tree, filter checkboxes, and cancel
buttons all render identically to before.

5c9d89dc64 drop the mountJobqRollup wrapper, render(h(...)) directly
mara, on review: expected the plain Preact pattern (render(h(Widget,
props), container), call again to update) rather than a custom
mountX() returning {refresh(), update()}. Preact's own render is
already the re-render/diff entry point, so the wrapper was indirection
this component didn't need - swarm.js (plain .js, no JSX pragma
required for h()/render() either) now calls render(h(JobqRollup,
{...refreshToken}), root) directly, bumping a module-level token to
force a refetch instead of holding a mount handle.

JobqGraph/mountJobqGraph (a separate, already-merged component) is
untouched - out of scope for this PR, flagged as a possible follow-up
if she wants the same simplification there.

Re-verified: npm run build (whole workspace) + swarm-ui typecheck
clean, comment-block + issue-ref lints clean, re-screenshotted the
dashboard SW4RM tab against the same mocked payload - identical
render, spinner now visibly mid-rotation in the frame (confirms the
animation is live, not just present in markup).

348b2f96da give the rollup glyph back its spin animation
The extraction dropped the old banner's `spinner` class on the glyph
span (`el('span', { class: 'glyph spinner' }, ...)`) - JobqRollup.tsx
rendered a static `.jqr-glyph` with no animation rule anywhere.
`.spinner` (shared/base.css) is already imported by both consumers, so
just reuse it on the glyph rather than duplicating the keyframes.

argus caught this on review - a single-frame screenshot can't tell a
frozen spinner from a missing one, which is exactly why it slipped
past the PR's visual verification.

1111577c91 extract build-queue rollup as a shared Preact component
New @hive/shared/jobq-rollup.js (JobqRollup.tsx + jobq-rollup.css),
mirroring JobqGraph's shape exactly: JSX use plus an imperative
mountJobqRollup(container, props) for a plain-.js call site. Fetches
Vec<hive_jobq_wire::StateCount> off `endpoint`, sums Running+Finishing
roots as "running" and Pending roots as "queued", renders nothing when
both are zero. Optional `queueHref` adds a "view queue -> " link.

Swapped dashboard's hand-rolled queue-summary banner (swarm.js) over to
this component instead of keeping two parallel implementations - same
"one shared component" pattern JobqGraph already set for the rebuild
queue tree view. Mounted once into a new #jobq-rollup-section, kept as
a sibling of (not inside) #containers-section since that section gets
replaceChildren()-wiped on every container-state render, which would
tear down and remount a Preact tree on every tick. Refreshed via the
mount handle's .refresh() on rebuild_queue_changed, same as builds.js's
JobqGraph handle.

Also mounted in swarm-ui's /jobs page, above JobqGraph, with no
queueHref (a link back to the page you're already on is noise) - the
literal ask on hyperhive#3364.

Verified: npm run build (whole workspace) and swarm-ui typecheck both
clean, comment-block + issue-ref lints run manually, headless-chromium
screenshots of both the dashboard SW4RM tab and swarm-ui's /jobs page
against mocked /api/jobq/rollup payloads - banner renders identically
in both, with and without the queue link as expected.

527ed8f3e2 swarm-ui: add a jobs tab, and type JobqGraph as real TypeScript
New /jobs route in swarm-ui, reusing the shared JobqGraph component
against swarm-controller's own GET /api/jobq/graph (same wire shape
hive-c0re's dashboard already consumes, different endpoint, no fork).

Converted JobqGraph.jsx to JobqGraph.tsx with real prop/wire types
(mirrors hive_jobq_wire's GraphNode/GraphDep/State by hand) instead of
a hand-maintained ambient .d.ts at the swarm-ui consumer side — the
.d.ts would duplicate the prop list and drift from the source the
moment the component's signature changes without the declaration being
touched. Both dashboard (untyped consumer, esbuild strips types) and
swarm-ui (tsc --noEmit) build/typecheck clean off the one file.

e14887164b jobq-graph: author JobqGraph in real JSX, not hand-written h() calls
Mara on PR#3315: "shouldnt the pattern be that the old dashboard has a
dep on preact and has a preact instance running for the jobq view?
then we could get rid of a lot of extra plumbing" - right: the plain
h() authoring existed only to dodge adding JSX support to the
dashboard's esbuild config, and that dodge is exactly the plumbing to
remove now that the dashboard already depends on preact.

- JobqGraph.js -> JobqGraph.jsx, rewritten in real JSX.
- dashboard/build.mjs: added jsx: 'automatic', jsxImportSource: 'preact'
to the JS-bundle esbuild call (esbuild already picks the jsx loader
for .jsx by extension; this just sets the transform mode, matching
swarm-ui's config). No other entry in that bundle uses JSX today.
- shared/package.json: export target updated to the .jsx file.

The CSS-as-page-level-@import structure is unchanged and stays that
way regardless of JSX: dashboard bundles this component transitively
through one esbuild call whose .css loader is 'text' (for the
shadow-DOM components that need their CSS as a literal string), and
esbuild's loader map is global per call, not per-module - importing
CSS from this component would silently pick up that loader too.
Explained in the file's own top comment.

Verified: npm run build (whole workspace) and npm run typecheck
(swarm-ui) clean. Re-ran the same headless-chromium screenshot against
a mock GET /api/jobq/graph payload as the previous verification -
pixel-identical to the h()-based version, confirming this is a pure
authoring-style refactor with no behavior change.

37161cd136 dashboard: replace <hive-jobq-graph> with a shared Preact component
Ports the shadow-DOM <hive-jobq-graph> custom element
(frontend/packages/shared/src/jobq-graph/) to a Preact component
(JobqGraph.js) shared by the dashboard and swarm-ui, per hyperhive#3310.

- JobqGraph.js: written with plain h() calls (no JSX) so the same file
compiles unmodified under both the dashboard's text-loader CSS config
and swarm-ui's JSX config. Exports `JobqGraph` for JSX use and
  `mountJobqGraph(container, props)` for the dashboard's non-JSX
imperative mount, returning a `{refresh(), update()}` handle matching
the old custom element's public surface. Same rendering contract as
before: indented state tree, payload.label verbatim, payload.data as
a generic key/value list, "waits on: <label>" text for Node-kind deps,
per-state filter checkboxes, optional cancel button.
- jobq-graph.css: light-DOM adaptation of the old shadow-scoped
stylesheet (:host -> .jg-root, otherwise unchanged).
- dashboard/src/builds.js: local mountJobqGraph() renamed to
mountRebuildQueue() to avoid colliding with the newly-imported shared
mountJobqGraph; cancel handling is now a plain onCancel callback
instead of a DOM CustomEvent listener (no shadow boundary to cross
  anymore).
- dashboard + shared package.json: added preact as a dependency (matches
  swarm-ui's existing pin, 10.29.8) - the dashboard was a vanilla-JS MPA
with no Preact/JSX pipeline before this.
- Removed the old hive-jobq-graph.js/.css entirely (confirmed via grep
it had exactly one consumer, dashboard/src/builds.js, so this is a
clean swap, not parallel maintenance of two implementations).
- Updated stale doc-comment references to the old element name in
  builds.html, tabs.js, swarm.js, docs/web-ui/dashboard.md, and
  hive-c0re/src/job_queue/mod.rs.

Verified: npm run build (whole frontend workspace) and npm run
typecheck (swarm-ui) both clean; cargo build/clippy/test -p hive-c0re
all clean (331 tests, 0 failures); headless-chromium screenshot of
/builds.html against a mock GET /api/jobq/graph payload confirms full
visual/behavioral parity with the old custom element (tree, filter
checkboxes, cancel buttons, error text, waits-on line, data list, live
build log panel).

This covers the dashboard-replacement half of hyperhive#3310 only. The
swarm-ui half (rendering the CreateAgent DAG on the agent-creation page)
is downstream of hyperhive#3306/#3124 landing - no swarm-ui page exists
yet to mount it in.

8dd6d05d6c frontend: unify pill/chip/badge shape into shared CSS
Per mara's steer on #3053 ("chip/pill/badge is the same if you squint
... theme unification is part of the goal" then "make it common css
instead of component, thats fine. but make them look unified (not as
much per usage css)"): shared CSS, not a JS component.

New @hive/shared/pill.css defines two classes, `.hive-pill` (primary
state chips) and `.hive-pill-sm` (secondary meta chips) — border/
border-radius/padding/font-size/letter-spacing (colour stays per-site,
the meaningful semantic part). Every render call site across dashboard
(swarm.js/core.js/builds.js) and agent (index.html/app.js) now carries
one of the two shared classes directly, alongside its own existing
semantic-colour modifier class.

Second cut of this PR, per argus's approve + mara's follow-up review
comment on the first cut: the first version instead enumerated every
legacy classname (`.badge`, `.status-badge`, `.header-pill`, etc.)
straight into pill.css's own selector groups so no call sites needed
touching. Mara's correction: that just relocates the duplication
rather than removing it, and the shared CSS shouldn't have to keep
naming every consumer. This version does the real rename instead.

Most visible consequence, unchanged from the first cut: dashboard's
`.badge` family moves off its own shape (2px square corners, uppercase,
tighter padding) onto the shared rounded-pill shape + agent's "sm" tier
sizing. `npm run build` clean across all three packages; verified the
compiled bundles carry the new classnames at every call site (dashboard
JS, agent index.html + app.js), not just the source tree.

92b9e67327 frontend: unify pill/chip/badge shape into shared CSS
Per mara's steer on #3053 ("chip/pill/badge is the same if you squint
... theme unification is part of the goal ... make it common css
instead of component, thats fine. but make them look unified"):
shared CSS, not a JS component.

New @hive/shared/pill.css defines the shape (border/border-radius/
padding/font-size/letter-spacing — color stays per-site, that's the
meaningful semantic part) in two tiers matching what was already
organically in use: `.hive-pill` (primary state chips) and
`.hive-pill-sm` (secondary meta chips). Every pre-existing classname
that drew its own copy of this shape (dashboard's `.badge` family,
agent's `.status-badge`/`.state-badge`/`.header-pill`/`.ctx-badge`/
`.model-chip`/`.effort-chip`) is folded straight into the same
selector groups, so no markup or JS changes were needed anywhere —
every render call site keeps constructing the exact same classnames
it always did.

Most visible consequence: dashboard's `.badge` family moves from its
own shape (2px square corners, uppercase, tighter padding) onto the
shared rounded-pill shape + agent's "sm" tier sizing, matching the
"look unified" ask directly. `npm run build` clean across all three
packages.

1e13b88c8c jobq graph: state filter on /api/jobq/graph + multi-select checkboxes
GET /api/jobq/graph gains a states query param (comma-separated
hive_jobq::State names): narrows the served root groups to the named
states, keeping a group whole (filtering by a root's own state, which
is already its subtree's rolled-up answer). Absent, empty, or fully
unrecognised is the identity filter, matching prior behaviour.

hive-jobq-graph.js gains a row of per-state checkboxes above the tree,
re-fetching the endpoint with the selection on toggle. Default
selection hides Done and Skipped.

Server-side filtering (not client-side hiding) so hive-jobq-graph-update's
node list, and everything downstream of it in builds.js (count pill,
live-log panel), only ever sees what's actually shown.

aa14339be7 jobq-graph: re-add per-node cancel button
Fixes #3067.

<hive-jobq-graph> gains a `cancellable` attribute: any non-terminal
node (Pending/Running/Finishing) gets a small cancel button, and a
click dispatches `hive-jobq-graph-cancel` (`detail: { id }`) rather
than POSTing anything itself -- which endpoint actually cancels a
node is the host's domain concept, same "push data out, host decides"
shape `hive-jobq-graph-update` already uses.

builds.js turns it on for R3BU1LD QU3U3, confirms via themedConfirm,
then POSTs the existing `/api/rebuild-queue/{id}/cancel` endpoint.
No manual refresh needed -- cancelling flips node state, which
already fires rebuild_queue_changed over SSE, and the page's existing
handler for that tick already calls jobqGraphEl.refresh().

Also removed ~130 lines of dead `.rqe-*` CSS in system-sections.css
left over from the bespoke pre-<hive-jobq-graph> queue renderer
(confirmed zero JS references before deleting each rule; kept the
still-used `.rqe-kind`/`.rqe-agent`/`.rqe-source*`).

docs/web-ui/dashboard.md's R3BU1LD QU3U3 section updated to match
current behaviour (cancel button, waits-on text instead of the old
"no per-node actions" note, sibling order no longer implies anything
since deps render as text not a reordered rail).

a858739b28 jobq-graph: replace the dep-edge gutter rail with a plain text line
mara reported the rail still didn't make dependencies visible
(screenshot on the PR). Root cause: the rail spans by sibling-array
position, but a sibling with its own nested subtree renders many
pixel-rows for one array slot -- in a real queue (agent_window with
7-ish children between two top-level siblings), the "line" breaks
into disconnected ticks around every real subtree, never reading as
a connection at all. My verification fixtures never tested a nested
subtree sitting between two related siblings, so this never showed up
before.

Replaced with a "waits on: <label>" text line under the dependent
node, resolved once in buildTree via a global id lookup (not scoped to
siblings, so a label still resolves even if a dep ever does cross a
group boundary despite the product decision that it shouldn't). Text
has no positional-gap failure mode: it's legible regardless of how
tall the node above or below it renders. No reordering, no rail, no
interleaving-of-independent-pairs class of bug possible anymore --
this is close to the original design proposed on the issue before the
heavier visual version was tried.

Re-verified against 6 fixture checks including the exact shape from
the screenshot (a dependency target with its own nested subtree
rendered between it and the dependent node).

6f87821110 jobq-graph: scope dep-edge reorder per connected component
Fixes a real bug argus caught: the flat batch-round topo sort could
interleave two fully independent dep pairs in the same sibling list
(e.g. W, X after_ok(W), Y, Z after_ok(Y) reordered to W, Y, X, Z), and
the single-column rail then drew one continuous line across rows that
have no relationship at all.

Reorder is now scoped per connected component of the local dependency
graph -- each component renders as a contiguous block (first-seen
order, so an already-correct list doesn't reorder needlessly), so two
unrelated pairs can never weave together. Within one component,
overlapping ranges are still correct: they mean the nodes really are
related (a diamond, for instance).

Also: a pass-through row's tooltip now names what's passing through it
(not just the edge it's itself an endpoint of) -- addresses the same
disambiguation gap argus flagged as a secondary note.

Re-verified against a wider fixture set including the exact
interleaving case from the review (17 checks: prior 6 unaffected +
argus's regression case, a shuffled-order variant, three simultaneous
independent pairs, and a genuine diamond that's expected to overlap).

86a7a62519 jobq-graph: render Node-kind dep edges between siblings
<hive-jobq-graph> only ever drew the parent/child containment tree --
a dependency between two sibling nodes (same parent, e.g.
prebuild.after_ok(meta_sync)) was invisible on screen. Confirmed with
the operator that a Node-kind dep never crosses a group boundary
(always a sibling under the same parent), so this is a purely local
problem per sibling list, not a whole-graph layout question.

Each sibling list is reordered dependency-first (stable topo sort,
falls back to original order on ties or an unexpected cycle) and gets
a small connecting rail in its left gutter marking dep edges, with a
tooltip naming what a waiting node is blocked on. Groups with no deps
render exactly as before -- no extra markup, no cost.

Verified the ordering + rail-classification logic standalone against
constructed fixtures (9 + 12 checks) before trusting it in the real
component.
