Both options are now ignored with a warning (the swarm-peers-removed.nix
shape), so a host that still sets one keeps evaluating.
- operatorPronouns: the agents' system prompt names the pronouns as
she/her, the value the harness fell back to and the option's default.
The --operator-pronouns flag, HiveEnv field, meta-flake let binding
and HIVE_OPERATOR_PRONOUNS env var are gone.
- contextWindowTokens: the per-family defaults (haiku 200000, sonnet
1000000, opus 1000000) move into hive-agent's harness_state as a
table; the window the API reports after a turn still wins. The
--context-window-tokens flag, HiveEnv field and the rendered
HIVE_CONTEXT_WINDOW_TOKENS_<KEY> env vars are gone.
ruth is created from the swarm dashboard like any agent. An existing ruth container starts at boot through the boot reconcile, like every other agent. A definition of services.hyperhive.ruthless now fails evaluation with a removal message.
`forgejo-swarm-controller-account`, in the forge's container, now puts
the swarm-controller's forge token into the swarm secret store itself,
under the forge publisher's leaf. The container already receives that
leaf as nspawn system credentials for its journal forwarder; the mint
loads the same three. The token reaches bao on stdin (`value=-`) and
the forge's API through a header file, never as an argument, and never
touches disk.
The mint's guard is a marker holding the published token's name, at
/var/lib/forgejo/swarm-controller-token-name, written last: after the
put, and after every other `swarm-controller-boot-*` token of the
account is revoked through forgejo's admin API, authenticated as the
new token. So a put that failed, or a marker lost while the store kept
an older token, leaves no live token behind once a mint completes. The
mint logs in to the store and checks that the account is a site admin
before it mints, so a store that is down or an account the admin API
would refuse mints nothing on each retry. Failures retry under
store-retry; forgejo does not wait for the mint. No bao read and no
grant change: the forge publisher keeps create/update on the token.
Removed: the host's `swarm-bao-forge-publisher` service and path unit,
which read the token file through the container's root, and their
entries in the store and policy ordering glue. The forge publisher's
policy unit stays; `swarm-bao-forge-oidc` still uses the leaf.
On deploy, an existing forge host has no marker, so the mint runs once:
it mints a new token, publishes it, revokes the old one, and deletes
the old /var/lib/forgejo/swarm-controller-token. The controller's next
forge call gets a 401, re-reads the store and carries on.
Adds LockPersonality, RestrictRealtime, ProtectKernelLogs and
ProtectKernelModules to the hive-priv unit. Nothing in hive-priv's
sources or its children uses personality(2), real-time scheduling,
/dev/kmsg, /proc/kmsg or explicit module loading.
A module-eval case pins the four directives on the rendered unit.
The catch-all, the dashboard and the hive-domain vhost were built in
vhosts.nix with the listen set, TLS attrs and headers applied by hand.
They are declared under services.hyperhive.gateway.vhosts now, so every
vhost behind the gateway goes through declared-vhosts.nix.
Two gateway-side rules cover what the catch-all needed: a vhost can set
securityHeaders = false (the catch-all only returns 444), and `default`
is rendered at mkDefault priority so an operator's own default vhost
still wins. The matrix discovery locations are unchanged.
The rendered nginx vhosts are unchanged.
Agents are handed `http://hive-collector.<swarm domain>:<port>` as their
otel endpoint instead of `http://<bridge IP>:<port>`. Every hive running
its collector contributes the name to `gateway.localNames`, so its own
dnsmasq answers it with its bridge IP, the way the queue's name already
works. The rendered meta flake then carries no hive-specific address,
which a swarm-level render needs (#4857, operator ruling 100744: "b").
hive-c0re's own exporter keeps the bridge address: on the host the name
may resolve to loopback through `gateway.localHostsEntry`, where the
receiver does not listen.
The name sits under the swarm domain and starts with `hive`, a fragment
no hive name may contain, so no hive's default domain can take it.
Grafana's VictoriaLogs datasource now targets https://logs.<swarm> and sends
the same static bearer as the metrics datasource. The log store's vhost routes
a 64-hex Authorization bearer to a second swarm-metrics-auth instance
(swarm-logs-grafana-auth, cert role swarm-logs-auth, which gains a read on the
bearer's store path). swarm-agent. tokens and everything else keep their routes.
Part of #3742 (DoD 3, logs).
The dashboard, its API, the swagger UI and the agent routes move to their
own vhost, `swarm.dashboardDomain` = `<hive>.hives.<swarm.domain>`, under
the swarm domain so authelia's session cookie reaches it. `/`, `/api/` and
`/api/docs/` ask authelia through `auth_request`, and authelia's
`operatorsOnly` rule for each hive's dashboard name lets only the admins
group in. The hive domain keeps matrix discovery and redirects every other
path to the new name.
The name rides as a SAN on the hive's own gateway leaf: the per-hive bao
role allows it, and hive-tls asks for it and checks coverage.
HTTP Basic auth is gone: the htpasswd writer and its test, the
`hivectl gateway` verbs and host-socket requests, the `gateway.auth`
options (now a removed-option error), the unauthorized page and the bcrypt
dependency. tmpfiles deletes a leftover gateway.htpasswd, which held
bcrypt hashes at 0644.
c0re hands out dashboard and agent URLs on the new name
(HYPERHIVE_DASHBOARD_DOMAIN), and the swarm controller's hive roster
carries each hive's dashboard name for the swarm UI's hive list.
Closes#3469
A new swarm service, `swarm-claude-login`, in its own container on the host
that sets `deploy.claude-login.enable` (defaulted on by `allSwarmServices`
where the host has the minter's store leaf, like the review classifier).
- swarm-ui: an agent card showing "login needed" gets a "log in" button.
Its dialog starts the login, shows the URL claude printed, and takes the
pasted code.
- swarm-controller: `POST/DELETE /api/agents/{name}/claude-login` and
`POST /api/agents/{name}/claude-login/code`, behind the swarm UI's
authelia-gated `/api/`, relay the steps to the minter as requests on
`$SWARM.claude-login.request`.
- swarm-claude-login: runs `claude auth login` over piped stdio with HOME
and CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR in a per-login scratch dir, scrapes the first
https URL, writes the code to stdin, and stores the `.credentials.json`
at `swarm/agents/<agent>/claude-credentials` with a KV v2 write, a new
version over any earlier one. The scratch dir goes on every exit path; a
login waits 15 minutes for its code.
- hive-agent: while parked in `wait_for_login`, reads that leaf every 30 s
under the agent's own cert and installs it only when its KV version is
newer than the one recorded in `<harness>/claude-credentials-version`.
An equal or older version is never put back, because claude rotates the
refresh token and the stored copy is stale after the first refresh.
- swarm-secret-client: `claude_login` paths and `SecretStore::read_versioned`.
- Credentials: a `claude-login` store leaf minted by glue-bao-tls, a
`swarm-claude-login` policy (create/update on
`swarm/agents/+/claude-credentials`, read on its own queue client
secret), an authelia machine client, and a `--claude-login-client`
grant in the queue's auth-callout responder. The unit runs as a static
system user.
The hive's own web-UI login is unchanged.
Refs #5268
The metrics vhost forwarded the store's read API (query, series, labels,
export, vmui, ...) with no credential, so anything that could reach
metrics.<swarm> could read every hive's and agent's metrics. mara ruled on
checked by an auth_request responder, and operators use their authelia
session.
- swarm-metrics-auth (new crate): auth_request responder on the metrics
store's host. Compares the presented bearer, in constant time, with the
one stored at swarm/services/<grafana client id>/metrics/bearer, read
under its own bao leaf and cached for 60s. Static user, the post-#5264
swarm-logs-auth unit shape.
- swarm-bao-grafana-metrics-bearer: on Grafana's host, creates that bearer
in bao if absent (create without update, Grafana's existing leaf) and
writes "Bearer <value>" into the container; the datasource sends it as
its Authorization header via $__file{}.
- The vhost: read locations take auth_request through a map (a bearer goes
to swarm-metrics-auth, anything else to authelia, no login redirect);
vmui takes an authelia session with the login redirect; forceSSL like
the logs vhost. The authelia subrequest location is renamed from
/__metrics_push_authz to /__metrics_authelia since it now serves reads.
- Authelia: the collector keeps every path; everyone else is refused the
collector's push and /metrics paths; group admins is admitted to the
rest; then deny.
- bao: a swarm-metrics-auth cert role and policy (read on the one leaf),
its leaf minted by glue-bao-tls, the CN reserved as a hive name, and
Grafana's grant gains create on the bearer leaf.
Fixes#3596
`swarm-bao-pki` was a `RemainAfterExit` oneshot. Once active, nothing
re-ran it: a switch restarts it only when its definition changes, and a
`Requires=`/`Wants=` on an active unit is satisfied without running it.
On muede-lpt2 the 10:57Z switch that added the builder line did change
the unit, so switch-to-configuration stopped it in its stop phase. A
start of `container@swarm-bao` 4 s later (before the daemon-reload at
10:57:35Z) pulled it back in through `swarm-bao-certs` with the OLD
definition, which had no builder line: 48 ms, nothing missing. The start
phase then found it active and did nothing. The 20:14Z switch that
enabled the builder left the unit unchanged, so it was never re-run, and
`container@swarm-builder` crash-looped on the absent `builder.pem`.
The unit now goes inactive after each run. Every switch starts
`multi-user.target`, which runs it again post-reload with the current
definition, and every unit that wants or requires it runs it on its own
start. Each line is idempotent on presence, so an existing leaf is never
re-signed.
The three consumers started from `machines.target` rather than
`multi-user.target` also want it, since `After=` alone does not order
against a job in another transaction: the builder's and the review
classifier's containers (nspawn `--load-credential`) and
`swarm-nats-auth-secrets` (pulled in by the queue's container).
Fixes#5284
With DynamicUser=true and RuntimeDirectoryPreserve=yes, systemd creates
the unit's runtime directory under /run/private/ (0700 root:root) and
symlinks /run/swarm-logs-auth to it (systemd.exec(5),
RuntimeDirectoryPreserve=). nginx runs as the unprivileged nginx user, so
its connect() to /run/swarm-logs-auth/auth.sock failed with EACCES, the
auth subrequest ended in a 502, and auth_request answered every agent
bearer on /select/logsql/ with a 500.
The unit now runs as a static swarm-logs-auth system user and group, the
shape swarm-controller already uses for its 0751 + Preserve socket dir.
RestrictSUIDSGID and RemoveIPC, which DynamicUser implied and the unit
did not set itself, are set explicitly.
module-eval-core-toggle gains a case that fails when any unit creating
the runtime directory of a unix: upstream of nginx combines DynamicUser
with RuntimeDirectoryPreserve. docs/process/gotchas.md records the trap.
Fixes#5235
The swarm settings gain `runtime` (`api-key`, the default, or `acp`) and
an `acp` provider record: an https base URL, the provider's model, and
its prices per million tokens. A PUT now changes only the fields its
body names, so the settings form that sends model, effort and limit
leaves the runtime alone; `null` clears `effort` or `acp`. The body stays
strict, and the stored document keeps #5192's lenient read.
The controller sends the runtime in each run request. On `acp` the
classifier runs one prompt on a new `opencode acp` session per
classification through hive-runtime's AcpRuntime, in a scratch
directory, with a config rendered from the settings. opencode runs
`read` and other tools without asking, so OPENCODE_PERMISSION
{"*":"deny"} takes every tool away from the model, and a deny-all policy
refuses any request on top. The title call, which resends the prompt,
is turned off. The deadline cancels the turn, and a turn that does not
end within 15s of that is dropped, which also covers an agent stuck
before its prompt. The answer is the final assistant text, as ACP has
no result event.
The provider key is read per run from
swarm/services/review-classifier/acp-provider, which the bao UI's
admins login may create and update, and reaches opencode through
AcpRuntime::with_provider_key and the trampoline's allowlist.
Each ACP classification's cost is computed from the configured prices
and the reported tokens, and added to
hyperhive.review_classifier.cost.usage labelled repo, pr, model and
currency.
Part of #5096
All agents on a host reach the gateway from one address and share one
limit_req budget; a host boot is one cache miss per agent at once.
Defaults go from 5r/s burst 20 to 50r/s burst 500. The module-eval case
reads the option values.
Any request on logs.<swarm> carrying a well-formed swarm-agent bearer
made swarm-logs-auth do a bao cert login and KV read before it could
refuse, with no cap on the rate.
nginx now applies limit_req (zone swarm_logs_agent_auth, keyed by
client address, 5r/s burst 20 nodelay by default) on the internal
location that forwards to swarm-logs-auth, answering 403 when over,
since auth_request passes through only 401/403 and swarm-logs retries
a 401. The authelia path and the query location carry no limit.
swarm-logs-auth remembers bearers it has granted, keyed by SHA-256 of
the bearer, for --verdict-ttl seconds (deploy.victorialogs.authVerdictTtl,
60 by default), holding at most 4096 and evicting the oldest. Denials
are never remembered. A replaced or deleted queue secret therefore
keeps working at the log store for up to the TTL after its last check.
Closes#5190
Remove deploy.swarm-ui.enable. Every reader (the swarm-ui vhost, the
authelia operator rule for the swarm apex, hive-network's
anyServiceEnabled) now reads deploy.swarm-controller.enable, and the
controller's webhook public URL is gated on the swarm domain alone,
since the vhost it names exists wherever the daemon does.
Both spellings of the old switch (deploy.swarm-ui.enable and the
already-renamed swarm.ui.enable) become mkRemovedOptionModule entries,
so a host that still sets either fails evaluation with a message
naming the controller toggle instead of silently changing.
Ruling (mara, #3742): "swarm-ui always runs wherever controller runs".
Part of #3742
The metrics vhost is default-deny; ingest works only because the collector's
metrics_endpoint path equals the vhost's gated exact location. The literals
live in separate modules, so renaming either broke ingest with CI green.
Assert the endpoint path is a location on the metrics vhost carrying
auth_request, in the existing core-toggle fixture.
Refs #5186
A new `auth_request` responder on the log store's host. nginx sends it
every `/select/logsql/` request whose `Authorization` is
`Bearer swarm-agent.<agent>.<secret>`; it answers 200 when the secret is
the one stored at `swarm/agents/<agent>/queue` (`swarm-agent-verify`),
401 otherwise. Every other bearer still goes to authelia, so agents
still presenting the hive's shared OIDC client keep working.
`auth_request` takes a fixed URI, so the split is a `map` on
`$http_authorization` plus an internal location that rewrites to the
map's pick. Checked against nginx 1.30.5 with stub upstreams: an agent
token only the stub validator accepts gets 200, a token only the stub
authelia accepts gets 200, every wrong one 401, and the internal
locations 404 from outside.
The responder serves a unix socket in its own traverse-only runtime
directory and reads the store under its own leaf
(`swarm-logs-auth`), whose policy is `swarm/agents/+/queue`, read-only.
glue-bao-tls mints the leaf where the store runs; elsewhere the
operator places it, and eval refuses a log store host without one.
Part of #4459.
Thirty-three module-eval fixtures were a second (or later) full
`nixosSystem` evaluation of a config another fixture already evaluated:
16 shapes defined identically in two to seven cluster files, plus
duplicates inside agent-queue-bao, core-toggle and
swarm-services-switch. Each cluster imports ./lib.nix itself, so nothing
was shared between them.
nix/module-eval/shared.nix now defines each of those 16 shapes once.
nix/checks.nix instantiates it a single time and passes it as `shared`
to the 23 clusters that read one, and each cluster rebinds the fixture
under its existing local name. Assertions are unchanged. Case text
changes only in core-toggle, where two cases built the forge-host
fixture inline and now read the file's `forgeHere`, and in two inline
`let` bindings (bao-otel-collector, grafana) that now take the shared
fixture.
Six folds are value-equal rather than textually equal: they drop an
explicit `deploy.hive-controller.enable = false` or
`deploy.swarm-otel.enable = false` that equals what the option already
resolves to for that config. Nothing under nix/host-modules sets either
option apart from the `mkDefault allSwarmServices` on swarm-otel, and
the only option-priority read there is `domain.highestPrio`.
Part of #5171.
The metrics vhost's `/` proxied every path to VictoriaMetrics with no
auth_request, so anything that could reach metrics.<swarm> could write
(`/api/v1/import`, `/api/v1/write`, ...) and delete
(`/api/v1/admin/tsdb/delete_series`) series. Only the OTLP push route
was gated.
`/` now answers 403. The read routes Grafana's Prometheus datasource
and vmui use are forwarded by exact or `^~` prefix location, each with
the matched path as its proxy_pass URI. The bare domain, which the
swarm UI's Metrics quick link opens, redirects to vmui instead of the
store's index page. The OTLP push location is unchanged.
Closes#5186
Seven host oneshots fetch a secret from the swarm secret store into a file
their consumer loads at start: swarm-bao-grafana-oidc, swarm-bao-otel-oidc,
swarm-bao-matrix-oidc, swarm-bao-ci-runner, swarm-bao-forge-oidc,
swarm-bao-hive-otel-oidc and swarm-bao-forwarder-oidc. Each was
RemainAfterExit with no timer, so it ran at boot or deploy and never again:
a secret re-minted in the store reached its consumer only through an
operator restarting the fetch.
lib/store-refresh-timer.nix gives each one a timer (OnUnitInactiveSec 10min,
RandomizedDelaySec 1min, the agent's own store re-read interval), and each
drops RemainAfterExit so a timer start is not a no-op. Each script already
writes the file only when secret_differs, and refresh_consumer/refresh_unit
restart the consumer only when the file is newer than its last start, so a
run reading an unchanged value restarts nothing.
Two docs said these units do not run on a timer; credentials.md's
ci-runner row said the runner token is not re-pulled.
Part of #5017 (slice T).
An agent's CPU and memory caps, set from the swarm. Keyed by the agent
alone, in a new `agent-limits` KV bucket that swarm-controller alone
writes, the same shape as `agent-inference` (#5034): mara on #4268,
"agents are not tied to a hive. dont tie the limits to the hive."
PUT {"cpu_quota": "400%", "memory_max": "8G"} every field optional,
replaces the stored value
GET the stored caps, {} when there are none
DELETE 204
PUT refuses an agent no hive's wanted state declares (as the inference
route does), unknown fields (422), zero and anything systemd does not take,
before the queue is asked, and stores memory in the spelling systemd takes
(8gb -> 8G). The hive hands these values to systemd verbatim.
The routes sit under /api/, behind the swarm UI vhost's authelia
subrequest like every sibling; the core-toggle module-eval case pins that
gate.
The bucket's reader on the hive comes in the next commit.
Contributes to #3865.
The leaf's key was copied by a host unit into the container's root on
host disk. nspawn now reads the cert, key and store CA as root at
container start (--load-credential) and passes them in as system
credentials; the daemon's unit loads them by bare id, as an agent's
container does with its own leaf (nix/agent-modules/bao.nix). The copy
unit is gone. Where this host mints the leaf, the container starts after
swarm-bao-pki, since nspawn refuses a missing credential source. An
assertion refuses identity paths with whitespace, which nixos-container's
unquoted extra flags would split.
deploy.review-classifier.enable (off by default, not derived from
allSwarmServices) puts swarm-review-classifier in its own network
namespace on the bridge, with claude-code and the daemon. A host unit
copies the classifier's store leaf into the container; the daemon reads
its queue client secret and the API key from the store with it.
- glue-bao-tls mints the review-classifier leaf; swarm-bao writes the
swarm-review-classifier role, reading exactly the API key path and the
classifier's queue client secret; swarm.nix reserves its CN.
- glue-review-classifier-oidc-client registers the machine client where
authelia runs, and the publisher carries its secret to the store.
- swarm-nats passes the client id to the responder as
--review-classifier-client.
- Where the host runs a hive-tier collector, claude exports its metrics
there; the daemon adds the repo and the PR to the resource attributes.
- module-eval: the new grant and leaf (bao-grants, now sixteen granting
units), the container's presence and its unit (core-toggle), and the
client registration and publishing (secret-publisher).
`swarmctl --swarm https://<swarm> login` runs the OAuth 2.0
authorization-code flow with PKCE against the swarm's authelia as a new
public `swarmctl` client: a pushed authorization request, the browser login
and explicit consent, and the code delivered by form_post to a loopback
port. The access and refresh tokens are cached at mode 0600 under
$XDG_STATE_HOME/swarmctl/ and refreshed under a file lock, since authelia
rotates the refresh token and revokes the login when a used one is
presented again. With --swarm (or SWARMCTL_SWARM), the agent, schedule and
forge verbs send their requests to https://<swarm>/api/ with the bearer
token instead of over the controller's unix socket, which stays the default.
authelia registers the client on every authelia host with a swarm domain:
`kind = "native"`, public, no minted secret, scopes offline_access and
authelia.bearer.authz, audience https://<swarm>/api/ (matched as a URL
prefix), redirect http://127.0.0.1/callback (any loopback port). Every
field is one authelia 4.39.20's validator requires for a public client
holding the bearer scope.
The swarm apex's /api/ answers a refused caller that sent an
Authorization header with the 401 itself instead of the login redirect,
so the CLI can tell "log in again" apart from an answer; a browser still
gets the redirect. The bearer token is not forwarded to the controller.
Refs #4409 (mara: c94764, c94782).
The controller's forge token never entered bao: the forge minted it in its
container, hive-forge-swarm-controller-token copied it to a host file, and the
controller LoadCredential'ed that file. forgeTokenFile defaulted to that path
only where the forge ran, so a controller on any other host had no forge
access unless an operator copied the file by hand.
Now the forge's host publishes it and the controller reads it:
- swarm-bao-forge-publisher (replaces hive-forge-swarm-controller-token)
waits for the in-container token, logs in with its own forge-publisher leaf
and writes it to swarm/controller/swarm-controller/forge/token. It runs on
every forge container start, the old unit's trigger.
- New principal swarm-forge-publisher: leaf minted by glue-bao-tls.nix,
policy create/update on that one path, written by
swarm-bao-forge-publisher-policy, CN reserved as a hive name.
- The controller policy gains read on that path. swarm-controller reads it
at start under its own certificate with the OIDC secret's retry, and runs
without forge access if it still cannot.
- forgeTokenFile, its LoadCredential and the forgeEnv gate are gone;
SWARM_CONTROLLER_FORGE_URL is always set. hostSwarmControllerTokenFile is
removed, and a tmpfiles rule deletes the old host copy on the forge host.
The in-container file stays: the mint unit's only-once guard reads it, and
it is the publisher's source.
Refs #4998
The CI runner was a hive deploy module: hive-ci.nix ran it beside the
forge, and hive-c0re registered it through the forge's admin API with
the `core` token, writing the registration token through hive-priv. It
could only run on the forge's host, and it kept an admin-scoped forge
token on a hive.
Now the runner is a swarm service:
- swarm-ci-runner.nix runs it in a `swarm-ci-runner` container on the
host that sets deploy.ci-runner.enable, reaching the forge by name.
It needs neither the forge nor a hive there.
- swarm-controller reads the forge's runner registration token with its
own admin token and writes it to swarm/services/ci-runner/
registration-token whenever it differs from what it last wrote. Its
grant on that path is create/update only.
- The runner's own leaf (CN swarm-ci-runner, role and policy of the same
name) reads that one path. swarm-bao-ci-runner.service fetches it into
the runner's EnvironmentFile and restarts the runner on a change.
- A pre-start step removes .runner when the daemon's journal since its
last start holds Forgejo's "unregistered runner" refusal (the daemon
exits 1 when its startup Declare gets it), or when .runner names
another forge address; upstream's pre-start step then registers again.
Removed from the hive side: hive-ci.nix and deploy.forgejo.ci.*,
forge/ci_runner.rs, PrivRequest::RegisterCiRunner and its handler and
ReadWritePaths entry, InfraContainer::Ci with hivectl's --ci and the
dashboard's hive-ci journal entry, HYPERHIVE_FORGE_CI_ENABLED, and
read:admin,write:admin from CORE_TOKEN_SCOPES: nothing else in hive-c0re
calls /api/v1/admin/*. The old ci options, under both swarm.forge.ci and
deploy.forgejo.ci, now fail evaluation naming deploy.ci-runner.
The forge's half of the old ci.enable, the actions/checkout mirror and
DEFAULT_ACTIONS_URL = self, is deploy.forgejo.actionsFromSelf.
Closes#4954
The shared `hive` fixture turned `deploy.hive-controller.enable` on for
every eval test. It is now off by default; `hiveWithController` turns it
on, and the fixtures whose claims read the hive tier (hive-c0re, the
queue-agent credential, the hive leaf, `deploy.hive-controller.*`, or an
absence that is only meaningful with a hive present) use it.
glue-nats-auth-bao-identity.nix still read the renamed
`services.hyperhive.enable`, which printed the "Obsolete option" trace
six times per CI run. The term is dropped: the pairing is gated on the
queue and the minted PKI, as its sibling glue-nats-bao-identity.nix is.
- swarm.serviceDomains lists every swarm service name on every host. The
store's issuing role is built from it, so the store now admits a leaf
for grafana, metrics, otel, logs, the bao UI and the apex whichever host
runs the store. Each gateway's own leaf stays narrowed by
localServiceDomains.
- swarm.matrix.apiUrl defaults to http://<swarm.matrix.gatewayHost>
(null when gatewayHost is null) instead of loopback on the matrix host.
- The authelia vhost proxies /bridge/ to swarm-authelia-bridge with the
prefix stripped, and deploy.swarm-controller.authBridgeUrl defaults to
${swarm.authelia.url}/bridge on every host. swarm.authelia.bridgeUrl is
removed.
- swarm-authelia-bridge admits only swarm-controller's OIDC client on
every request (403 for any other active token), configured by
SWARM_AUTHELIA_BRIDGE_CONTROLLER_CLIENT_ID (renamed from
..._OPERATOR_READER_CLIENT_ID, which gated ListOperators alone).
- swarm.peerHives is removed; swarm-wireguard.nix filters this host's own
hive out of swarm.hives itself.
Closes#4933
The forge always sits behind the gateway, so `deploy.forgejo.behindGateway`
(and its `swarm.forge.behindGateway` rename alias) is removed and its
true-branch behaviour is now unconditional within `deploy.forgejo.enable`:
https ROOT_URL on the gateway's httpsPort, the forge vhost and local DNS
name, the swarm-ui quick link, the published metrics scrape target, forgejo
metrics, the authelia `/metrics` rule, and `publicUrl` defaulting to
`https://<forge.domain>`.
Removed with it: the direct-port `http://<domain>:<httpPort>/` ROOT_URL
branch, the hive-ci assertion that the option is true, the core-toggle
cases that only exercised the false branch (the services-leaf case reads
`bare`, which never enabled the forge either). `hivectl open forge` now
points at `swarm.forge.publicUrl`, which can still be set to null.

The swarm.domain assertion in hive-network.nix fired on every host that
imported the module, so a host that enables nothing failed eval. It now
fires only when one of the hyperhive service switches is on (every
deploy.*.enable that runs something, gateway, gateway.dns, network,
otel, snapshotStore). The requirement itself is unchanged: any host that
runs a hyperhive service still needs swarm.domain.
The core-toggle module-eval suite gains a case: a missing swarm.domain is
refused on a hive and on a swarm-service-only host, and a host enabling
nothing passes every assertion.

The controller's OIDC client secret (client `swarm-controller`, used for
the queue connection, the auth-bridge bearer and the OTLP push) came from
an operator-placed file, `deploy.swarm-controller.queue.clientSecretFile`,
handed in by `LoadCredential=`.
Now `swarm-secret-publish`, which already copies authelia's minted OIDC
secrets into the store, also publishes this one, to
`swarm/controller/swarm-controller/oidc/client`. That path sits under
`controller/`, which no hive's policy reads. The controller reads it once
at start with its existing store certificate and holds it in memory, as
`swarm_queue_client::ClientSecret::Value`. If the store is down, it
retries for about a minute and then fails the start, so `Restart=` tries
again.
Policy delta: the controller gets `read` on that leaf, and the publisher
gets `create`/`update` on that leaf.
Removed: the `queue.clientSecretFile` option (both spellings, now removed
options with a message), its singleHostSwarm default, the credential and
placeholder, and the path watcher plus its restart oneshot. A controller
without a store identity is now an eval error, because it has no other
way to get the secret.
`checks.module-eval-core-toggle` is red on main: "a gateway's services
leaf asks for only the swarm names that host fronts" read its leaf
request off `bare`, on the premise that `bare` fronts forge. That was
true where the property was written, before 978164dc (#4705) defaulted
`deploy.forgejo.enable` to false. The two merged in sequence, and on main
`bare` renders only the `_` and `h1.t.local` vhosts, so its
`localServiceDomains` is [] and the script carries `alt_names=''`,
never `alt_names=forge.t.local`.
The narrowing itself is right: a host that runs no forge fronts no
swarm name and asks for no services leaf. Only the fixture was stale.
The property now reads a hive with `deploy.forgejo.enable = true`,
whose request is `common_name=forge.t.local alt_names=forge.t.local`
while `auth.t.local` stays in the swarm-wide set.
The renewal timer from 0649673e is not involved: the check's derivation
is identical at 0649673e and at its parent, and ed2ec52f replayed onto
978164dc^ holds while replayed onto 978164dc it fails.

`services.hyperhive.enable` and `services.hyperhive.c0re.enable` are gone.
One switch, `services.hyperhive.deploy.hive-controller.enable` (default
false, as the old toggle was), now gates hive-c0re and hive-priv. Both old
paths are `mkRenamedOptionModule` shims in deploy.nix, so a host config
that still sets either evaluates as before and gets a rename warning.
Every other read of the old toggle is resolved, including the 29 made
through the `hyperhiveCfg`/`hiveCfg` aliases:
- Dropped: each swarm service and its glue keeps only its own deploy
toggle (authelia, bao and its PKI glue, grafana, victorialogs,
victoriametrics, the secret publisher, swarm-ca, the OIDC client rows,
the controller/nats/matrix-ctl/publisher/services-issuer identities),
the forge, and the `domain` deprecation warning.
- To deploy.hive-controller.enable: the queue-agent credential reader and
its assertion, which feed hive-c0re and write under its state dir, plus
their policy-order entry; the network identity assertions; hive-tls's
two writes into hive-c0re's environment.
- hive-tls runs where the gateway runs self-signed
(`gateway.enable && useSelfSigned`), not on every host.
- The matrix appservice-token reader and its assertion stay on
`deploy.matrix.enable` plus their client-identity checks. They read
deploy.matrix's token file and registration script; their deploy.bao
inputs are the client-half options a hive sets to read a store it does
not run, so gating on deploy.bao.enable would drop the tested
remote-reader case.
- The `hiveName` assertion moves from hive-network.nix to hyperhive.nix
and fires wherever the hive, the store or the homeserver runs: each
turns the name into an identifier with no fallback.
On a host with `deploy.allSwarmServices` and no hive, the documented
services-host recipe, authelia, bao, grafana, victorialogs,
victoriametrics, the OIDC client rows and the hive CA now render; before,
the old toggle being off left them out.

Every gateway asked the store's `pki/issue/swarm-services` for the whole
swarm's service set, so a private key on any gateway host could serve a
valid certificate for services that host does not front and never has.
`swarm.localServiceDomains` derives the per-host subset by filtering
`swarm.serviceDomains` against the vhosts this host actually renders —
the deploy flags those vhosts are already guarded on, read once rather
than copied into a second filter. The leaf request and the coverage
guard that decides whether to re-issue both read it, so they cannot
disagree about which names the leaf owes.
The sub-CA's name constraint and the role's `allowed_domains` stay the
swarm-wide set: every host's subset is inside it, and narrowing the
constraint per host would turn one signing into N.
Every hive with hyperhive enabled ran its own hive-forge container, and
its gateway answered forge.<swarm> with its own bridge IP, so on a
multi-host swarm each hive talked to its own forge.
deploy.forgejo.enable defaults to false and allSwarmServices sets it with
mkDefault, like authelia and bao; singleHostSwarm gets it through that.
The forge's OIDC client moves to a glue module gated on authelia, so a
split authelia/forge swarm still registers it. CI now requires the forge
on the same host, and the controller's forgeTokenFile defaults to null
where the forge is not.

Refs #3782
A remote hive dialled nothing until an operator copied the queue's URL
into it, though the URL is the same string everywhere. statusPublish.natsUrl,
queue.agentNatsUrl and controller.queue.natsUrl now default to
tls://<swarm.nats.domain>:<port> unconditionally.
The statusPublish assertion treated a URL without a secret as a half
config. With the URL a default on every hive, only the secret claims
publishing: the assertion now refuses a secret without a URL or token
endpoint, and hive-c0re's status environment is gated on the secret too,
so a hive without one publishes nothing instead of reading a missing
credential.
The queue listened in plaintext on 4222, reached by bridge IP or loopback,
and nothing in-tree opened it to another hive. It now has a name, serves a
certificate for that name alone, and refuses clients that do not speak TLS.
- `swarm.nats.domain`, default `nats.<swarm.domain>`, a sibling name like
`swarm.bao.domain`. The queue host answers it via `gateway.localNames`;
every other hive resolves it through the operator's DNS, as for bao.
- `pki/roles/swarm-nats` allows that one name (bare domain, no subdomains,
IPs or localhost, server flag). A `swarm-nats` cert-auth role and policy
may only `update` `pki/issue/swarm-nats`, written by
`swarm-bao-nats-tls-policy`. The login leaf is minted by glue-bao-tls and
paired by glue-nats-bao-identity. `deploy.bao.natsCommonName` is reserved
as a hive name.
- `swarm-bao-nats-tls` issues the leaf into a directory bound read-only into
the container, restarts nats when it rotates, and re-runs daily.
It joins glue-bao-readers-policy-order, so it is ordered after its policy
unit (`after` and `wants`, never `requires`) where the store is on the
same host. The policy unit joins the store's journald list.
- nats gets `tls {}`, with the key via `LoadCredential`, and no
`allow_non_tls`. `validateConfig` is now off in every mode, because the
build-time check loads a leaf that only exists at runtime.
- 4222 is also open on `wg-hive` when the host is on the mesh, never
host-wide.
- `statusPublish.natsUrl`, `queue.agentNatsUrl`, the controller's URL under
`singleHostSwarm`, and the auth responder all dial
`tls://<swarm.nats.domain>:<port>`. swarm-queue-client hands its CA file
to the NATS connection too, so hive-c0re and the controller trust the
leaf's root.
- docs/swarm/README.md: the queue URL and the one DNS record a multi-host
swarm needs.
module-eval-nats-tls pins the role, the policy, the served leaf, the
firewall, the ordering, and a scan of every `*_NATS_URL` and the
responder's URL across the host and its containers.

The single module-eval derivation forced ~62 full nixosSystem
fixtures live at once to compute its cases list: 10.6GB peak RSS /
5m25s to evaluate, by far the dominant cost in nix flake check.
Splits it into 21 independent checks.module-eval-* derivations
(1-7 fixtures each) sharing builders/helpers via module-eval/lib.nix,
so no single derivation needs more than a handful of fixtures live
at once. A few cases spanning two clusters carry a small duplicated
fixture rather than threading shared state through lib.nix.
