mara on #5170: "dont split caps and perms. its all perms. / dont include
the now empty tool groups / nothing set -> default / also add perms to
agent creation screen".
- hive-sh4re: one `Permission` enum (messaging, meta, inbox, execution,
web_tools, manage_root_agent) replaces `ToolGroup` and `Capability`;
`lifecycle`/`forge` are gone. `Permission::default_for` is the default
for an agent the swarm sets nothing for.
- The record is `{ "permissions": [...] }`. Missing key, unset field or
no successful read yet = default; `[]` = none; a failed read after a
good one keeps the last value.
- hive-agent reads its own key every 10s and builds each turn's --tools,
--allowedTools and MCP config (rewritten before every turn) from it;
the subagent daemon reads it on each start/continue. Agents get a
read-only grant on their own key.
- hive-c0re restarts an agent only when its manage_root_agent changes.
The import now merges meta/capabilities.json and meta/tool-groups.json
into one list per agent and deletes both; the "import pending, don't
read" decision is `ImportOutcome::read_allowed`, table-tested.
- swarm-controller: `GET /api/permissions` (names + default) and an
optional `permissions` on `POST /api/agents`, stored before the job is
queued. swarm-ui's create-agent form gets a permissions field.
- Deleted: HIVE_TOOL_GROUPS and its forward to the subagent daemon,
tool_groups.rs, ruth's tool-group seed, the permissions rebuild job
(PermPayload/WritePermFile/perm_change), the dashboard permissions tab
and its stale-entries panel.
Part of #5170.
The crate README rewrite was unrolled at eval time: one sed block per
crate, each carrying one -e expression per other crate. The installPhase
string grew with the square of the crate count, and at 40 crates
(d5de1e494 added swarm-claude-login) it reached 131708 bytes. Linux
caps a single environment variable at 128 KiB, so exec of the builder
failed with "Argument list too long" and every consumer of
reference-docs failed with it, the website repo included.
The rewrite is now a shell loop over $members at build time, building
the same sed expressions per crate. The phase text no longer depends on
the crate count. Output is byte-identical to the old form at 6aab2ebb6
(39 crates, the last commit where it built).
Closes#5321
swarm-bao-grafana-controller-token logs in to the store with Grafana's
leaf, like its three Grafana siblings, and glue-bao-readers-store-order.nix
already orders it after the store's container and PKI unit. The
services-switch case that pins that ordering did not list it, so dropping
it from the glue would have passed. It is now in the roster, and the count
of readers rendered off the store's host goes from 7 to 8: the unit exists
wherever Grafana does.
credentials.md gets the row for its store path, beside the controller's
forge token.
swarm-bao-grafana-controller-token, on the host that runs Grafana, logs in
to Grafana's API over its socket as the built-in admin (the password
swarm-bao-grafana-admin minted, #5138) and keeps a `swarm-controller`
service account that is an enabled Viewer. It mints a token for that
account and writes it to bao at
swarm/controller/swarm-controller/grafana/token under Grafana's leaf. A
ten-minute timer runs it again. The unit keeps a stored token Grafana
accepts. If Grafana refuses the stored token with 401, or bao holds
none, the unit deletes every token of the account and mints a new one.
Grafana's grant gains create/read/update on that leaf, and the
controller's gains read.
swarm-controller serves GET /api/alerts from Grafana's
/api/prometheus/grafana/api/v1/alerts. It reads the token from bao,
keeps it in memory, and re-reads bao once on a 401. The HTTP client has
5s connect and 15s request timeouts. Any failure is a 503 that names its
cause. swarm-ui gets an /alerts page listing them, built the same way as
the hives page.
This is option (c) on #5129, the operator's choice.
A new swarm service, `swarm-claude-login`, in its own container on the host
that sets `deploy.claude-login.enable` (defaulted on by `allSwarmServices`
where the host has the minter's store leaf, like the review classifier).
- swarm-ui: an agent card showing "login needed" gets a "log in" button.
Its dialog starts the login, shows the URL claude printed, and takes the
pasted code.
- swarm-controller: `POST/DELETE /api/agents/{name}/claude-login` and
`POST /api/agents/{name}/claude-login/code`, behind the swarm UI's
authelia-gated `/api/`, relay the steps to the minter as requests on
`$SWARM.claude-login.request`.
- swarm-claude-login: runs `claude auth login` over piped stdio with HOME
and CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR in a per-login scratch dir, scrapes the first
https URL, writes the code to stdin, and stores the `.credentials.json`
at `swarm/agents/<agent>/claude-credentials` with a KV v2 write, a new
version over any earlier one. The scratch dir goes on every exit path; a
login waits 15 minutes for its code.
- hive-agent: while parked in `wait_for_login`, reads that leaf every 30 s
under the agent's own cert and installs it only when its KV version is
newer than the one recorded in `<harness>/claude-credentials-version`.
An equal or older version is never put back, because claude rotates the
refresh token and the stored copy is stale after the first refresh.
- swarm-secret-client: `claude_login` paths and `SecretStore::read_versioned`.
- Credentials: a `claude-login` store leaf minted by glue-bao-tls, a
`swarm-claude-login` policy (create/update on
`swarm/agents/+/claude-credentials`, read on its own queue client
secret), an authelia machine client, and a `--claude-login-client`
grant in the queue's auth-callout responder. The unit runs as a static
system user.
The hive's own web-UI login is unchanged.
Refs #5268
The granting units (granterPolicyUnit's 17, swarm-bao-granter-role,
swarm-bao-controller-policy, swarm-bao-agent-pki) and swarm-bao-nats-tls
copy store-retry's restart budget by hand, are Type=oneshot, and set no
TimeoutStartSec, so systemd gives each attempt no start timeout. A store
that accepts a connection and never answers leaves the attempt running
forever: Restart=on-failure never fires, units ordered after it wait, and
swarm-bao-nats-tls's daily timer starts a unit that is still activating.
Each now sets TimeoutStartSec: 60 for the granting units and the
granter's role, 2min for controller-policy (it may generate the services
root), 5min for agent-pki and nats-tls (each may wait on a blocking
restart of a server in a container). module-eval-bao-grants and
module-eval-nats-tls assert the bound is finite.
The restart budget itself is unchanged; that is #5305.
Closes#5306
swarm-services-cert, swarm-services-cert-renew and hive-tls-resign are
oneshots, which systemd gives no start timeout, and the root-only
`ca/pem` curl set no connect or total timeout. A store that accepted the
connection and never answered held the attempt forever: no failure, so
no store-retry restart, and a hung renew unit swallowed every later
timer tick.
The curl now gives up after 10s to connect and 30s overall. Each unit
gets a TimeoutStartSec: 20min for the services-leaf pair (the script
waits up to 10min on its lock), 10min for the gateway leaf. The
`--no-block` comment no longer cites a TimeoutStartSec that did not
exist.
module-eval-hive-tls gains a case pinning both.
Closes#5303
The metrics vhost forwarded the store's read API (query, series, labels,
export, vmui, ...) with no credential, so anything that could reach
metrics.<swarm> could read every hive's and agent's metrics. mara ruled on
checked by an auth_request responder, and operators use their authelia
session.
- swarm-metrics-auth (new crate): auth_request responder on the metrics
store's host. Compares the presented bearer, in constant time, with the
one stored at swarm/services/<grafana client id>/metrics/bearer, read
under its own bao leaf and cached for 60s. Static user, the post-#5264
swarm-logs-auth unit shape.
- swarm-bao-grafana-metrics-bearer: on Grafana's host, creates that bearer
in bao if absent (create without update, Grafana's existing leaf) and
writes "Bearer <value>" into the container; the datasource sends it as
its Authorization header via $__file{}.
- The vhost: read locations take auth_request through a map (a bearer goes
to swarm-metrics-auth, anything else to authelia, no login redirect);
vmui takes an authelia session with the login redirect; forceSSL like
the logs vhost. The authelia subrequest location is renamed from
/__metrics_push_authz to /__metrics_authelia since it now serves reads.
- Authelia: the collector keeps every path; everyone else is refused the
collector's push and /metrics paths; group admins is admitted to the
rest; then deny.
- bao: a swarm-metrics-auth cert role and policy (read on the one leaf),
its leaf minted by glue-bao-tls, the CN reserved as a hive name, and
Grafana's grant gains create on the bearer leaf.
Fixes#3596
network.md listed matrix among the shared-netns containers and the
private-netns list named only agents and the CI runner; it now says
every privateNetwork container keeps its own firewall. The authelia
module no longer calls the matrix container shared, and the hive-c0re
comment on having no homeserver fallback no longer names port 8008.
Part of #4815.
tuwunel bound `0.0.0.0:<httpPort>` in the host netns, so the homeserver
port was open on every host address, and the gateway proxied to it on
host loopback.
The container now sets `privateNetwork = true` and hangs off the hive
bridge with a DHCP lease, the same attach the CI runner, builder and
review classifier use (resolvconf on, `networking.nameservers` the bridge
IP). tuwunel listens only on `/run/hive-matrix/tuwunel.sock`, a host
directory (root:nginx 0770) bind-mounted into the container; its primary
group is nginx's gid and the socket is 0660. The gateway's `/_matrix/`
location proxies to the socket.
The static resolv.conf goes: it existed because resolvconf's host
tracking came up empty in the shared netns.
`swarm.matrix.httpPort` and `{swarm,deploy}.matrix.openFirewall` are
removed with a message: there is no host port to choose or open. The
`.well-known/matrix/*` fallback to `<hive>:<httpPort>` is dropped with
them; it only rendered with `gatewayHost = null`, which the homeserver's
SSO assertion already rejects.
Part of #4815.
`swarm-bao-pki` was a `RemainAfterExit` oneshot. Once active, nothing
re-ran it: a switch restarts it only when its definition changes, and a
`Requires=`/`Wants=` on an active unit is satisfied without running it.
On muede-lpt2 the 10:57Z switch that added the builder line did change
the unit, so switch-to-configuration stopped it in its stop phase. A
start of `container@swarm-bao` 4 s later (before the daemon-reload at
10:57:35Z) pulled it back in through `swarm-bao-certs` with the OLD
definition, which had no builder line: 48 ms, nothing missing. The start
phase then found it active and did nothing. The 20:14Z switch that
enabled the builder left the unit unchanged, so it was never re-run, and
`container@swarm-builder` crash-looped on the absent `builder.pem`.
The unit now goes inactive after each run. Every switch starts
`multi-user.target`, which runs it again post-reload with the current
definition, and every unit that wants or requires it runs it on its own
start. Each line is idempotent on presence, so an existing leaf is never
re-signed.
The three consumers started from `machines.target` rather than
`multi-user.target` also want it, since `After=` alone does not order
against a job in another transaction: the builder's and the review
classifier's containers (nspawn `--load-credential`) and
`swarm-nats-auth-secrets` (pulled in by the queue's container).
Fixes#5284
builder.nix's bare, servicesHere and natsHere were exact copies of
shared.bareWithController, swarm-services-switch's swarmServicesHere and
nats-authelia's natsOldPath. The last two move into shared.nix; each file
rebinds them under its local name, so no case changes.
The socket is wanted by sockets.target and nothing orders the wireguard
unit before it, so the mesh address can be missing at bind time
(EADDRNOTAVAIL) and the receiver never listens. FreeBind lets the bind
succeed regardless, and also covers the interface coming back after a flap.
Also assert the mesh address is not a wildcard, which the comment above the
socket already claimed, and cover the rendered socket in a module-eval case.
Job-level timeout-minutes is parsed but not enforced by this runner; only
the runner's jobTimeout bounds a job. Also fixes the devshell coverage
comment, the shellcheck job comment, an option description citing a script
that is not in the repo, and comment file pointers that resolve to nothing.
The queue's metrics were scraped over loopback from the exporter, declared
only where the queue and the collector share a host, so a collector on any
other host had no job for it. Its target is now declared on every host as
`https://<swarm.nats.domain>/metrics`, and the queue's host gets a gateway
vhost on that name serving `= /metrics` from the exporter behind the
collector's auth subrequest (`/__nats_metrics_authz`, the forge's shape).
Every other path there is 403; the monitoring endpoint is never proxied.
The rules derived from `publishedScrapeTargets` admit the collector's
client and deny every other subject. The loopback entry, and with it
`glue-otel-scrape-targets.nix`, is gone.
In self-signed mode the vhost serves the queue's own `swarm-nats` leaf
(issued for exactly that name, `server_flag` set), copied 0640
root:nginx by `swarm-nats-gateway-cert`; until the leaf exists that unit
writes a throwaway pair, so nginx never starts on a missing file. The
name stays out of `swarm.serviceDomains`, so a host whose only swarm
service is the queue fronts no services name and its gateway neither
waits for nor needs the swarm-services leaf: no services-issuer pair has
to be placed on it. With ACME or an operator cert the vhost uses the
gateway's own TLS, as every other name does.
The queue's host now enables the gateway (`mkDefault`), as every other
swarm service's host does.
Fixes#5205
deploy.builder.enable defaults on under deploy.allSwarmServices (mkDefault),
where the host has the builder's store identity pair, as for the review
classifier. An explicit false still wins.
Grafana's own metrics were scraped over loopback through the
`grafana-metrics` nginx vhost, declared only where grafana and the
collector share a host, so a collector on any other host had no job for
it. Its target is now declared on every host as
`https://<swarm.grafana.domain>/metrics`, next to the other published
targets, and grafana's vhost serves `= /metrics` behind the collector's
auth subrequest (`/__grafana_metrics_authz`, the forge's shape). The
rules derived from `publishedScrapeTargets` admit the collector's client
there and deny every other subject.
The loopback scrape is gone with the vhost that served it and its
`swarm.grafana.metricsPort` option, so a single host still scrapes
grafana once, now by name. A config that sets that option now fails
evaluation with "option does not exist".
On the published vhost `/metrics` was answered with 403 for everyone.
It now answers the collector's token, and a plain session gets authelia's
`deny`. The design note that ruled the published vhost out for scraping
predates the collector's credential; it is replaced by the location's
own comment and a line on `swarm.grafana.domain`.
Part of #5205
Two comments said authelia's rule requires `group:operators`. The group
is `admins` (`operatorGroup` in swarm-authelia.nix), and the rule is now
an `operatorsOnly` pair.
The apex's `operatorsOnly` pair was guarded on
`deploy.swarm-controller.enable`, which is true only on the host that
runs the controller and with it the swarm UI's vhost. When authelia runs
on another host, that vhost still asks it, but the authelia host
rendered no rule for the apex at all, so every session reached the
swarm UI and its `/api/` through `default_policy = one_factor`.
The pair now renders whenever the swarm domain is set, like the bao UI's
pair. No vhost on a host that doesn't serve the apex asks about it, so
the extra rules there are inert. authelia 4.39.20's `validate-config`
accepts them on an authelia-only host's rendered access_control.
module-eval-swarm-otel-identity gains a case on the existing
`autheliaOnly` fixture (authelia without the controller): the apex has
exactly the allow+deny pair, the rule list is closed, and an account in
no group is refused `/api/agents` while `group:admins` passes.
Fixes#5120
authelia takes the first matching rule, and a rule with a `subject` does
not match a subject outside it. The swarm domain's and the bao UI's
`group:admins` rules had nothing after them, so an account in no group
skipped them and landed on `default_policy = one_factor`: any
authenticated account reached the swarm UI, its `/api/` (by cookie or by
bearer) and the bao UI.
Each of the two group rules is now an `operatorsOnly` pair: the group
allow, then a subject-less `deny` for the same domain, the shape
`collectorOnly` already gives the collector's metrics rules.
`default_policy` stays `one_factor`, which the forge and chat rely on.
module-eval-swarm-otel-identity gains two cases on `allLocal`: an
account in no group is refused the swarm domain (four paths) and the bao
UI while `group:admins` passes and the forge stays open; and a
predicate, `autheliaSubjectRulesClosed` in lib.nix, holds over the
rendered list: every subject-scoped allow is closed by a later
subject-less `deny` on its domain with no subject-less allow in between,
and nothing follows a domain-wide `deny` on its domain.
Fixes#5120
The socket scheme needs VictoriaMetrics 1.153.0 or later: older builds
create the socket 0600 whatever the umask, so nginx could not connect
and every consumer would get 502 with the module evaluating clean.
deploy.victoriametrics.package is an operator option, so an assertion
now refuses an older one, naming the option and the reason.
Turning DynamicUser off moves the state directory from
/var/lib/private/victoriametrics (behind a /var/lib/victoriametrics
symlink) to a plain /var/lib/victoriametrics. A oneshot ordered before
the store moves the old directory there and chowns it to the static
user when the plain path is the old symlink, empty, or missing, and does
nothing once the private directory is gone. Without it the persistent
container's history depends on systemd's own DynamicUser-off migration.
Refs #4815
The metrics store's container gets privateNetwork = true with no
interface but loopback. VictoriaMetrics listens on
unix:/run/swarm-victoriametrics/victoriametrics.sock, a host directory
(root:nginx 0770) bind-mounted into the container, and every vhost
location that forwarded to 127.0.0.1:8428 now forwards to that socket.
The store runs as a static user whose primary group is nginx's gid,
with UMask 0007, so the socket it creates is 0770 group nginx. This
relies on VictoriaMetrics >= 1.153.0 honouring the umask (the locked
nixpkgs ships 1.153.0). nixpkgs' readiness loop curls a TCP URL, so
postStart is replaced with the same loop over --unix-socket.
swarm.victoriametrics.port is removed (nothing binds it any more), with
a mkRemovedOptionModule entry, and dropped from swarm-otel's host
port-collision assertion. The container's resolver unit is dropped:
there is no interface to reach the bridge resolver through, and the
store resolves no names.
The collector scrape, the collector push and Grafana's datasource
already reach the store by its published domain, so they are unchanged.
Refs #4815

DynamicUser implies PrivateTmp=disconnected (systemd.exec(5)), a tmpfs
of the unit's own rather than a private directory reachable from the
host namespace. The explicit setting now matches what the unit ran
with before it moved to a static user.
Refs #5235
With DynamicUser=true and RuntimeDirectoryPreserve=yes, systemd creates
the unit's runtime directory under /run/private/ (0700 root:root) and
symlinks /run/swarm-logs-auth to it (systemd.exec(5),
RuntimeDirectoryPreserve=). nginx runs as the unprivileged nginx user, so
its connect() to /run/swarm-logs-auth/auth.sock failed with EACCES, the
auth subrequest ended in a 502, and auth_request answered every agent
bearer on /select/logsql/ with a 500.
The unit now runs as a static swarm-logs-auth system user and group, the
shape swarm-controller already uses for its 0751 + Preserve socket dir.
RestrictSUIDSGID and RemoveIPC, which DynamicUser implied and the unit
did not set itself, are set explicitly.
module-eval-core-toggle gains a case that fails when any unit creating
the runtime directory of a unix: upstream of nginx combines DynamicUser
with RuntimeDirectoryPreserve. docs/process/gotchas.md records the trap.
Fixes#5235
The runtime list was exported but only its type was used, so the type is
now written out. The form's pure logic (draft, checks, request body,
change detection) gets tests under node's built-in runner, run by the
existing swarm-ui check.
The daemon's two-minute refresh compared the store's linked account
names with the names it booted with. A secondary that was named but did
not come up - no token at bring-up, a token the homeserver rejected
(M_UNKNOWN_TOKEN), or a homeserver still down after the ~52 s boot
retries - kept its name in the set, so nothing ever noticed it again:
it stayed down until the daemon restarted for some other reason, and
an operator re-linking a rejected account changed no name.
Each such secondary is now tried again on the same two-minute period,
one per tick, after one refresh and then doubling waits capped at
sixteen minutes. One that comes up joins the registry (now behind a
lock) and its sync loop joins the running set; the primary and the
other accounts are not restarted. The store is still only read.
The startup todo wipe moves out of bring_up_account to run once before
any sync loop: run per account, a late secondary would have cleared the
todos the running accounts' sweeps had already deduped.
Part of #5017 (slice M).
VictoriaLogs' own metrics were scraped over loopback, declared only on
the host running the store, so a collector on any other host had no job
for it. Its target is now declared on every host as
`https://<swarm.victorialogs.domain>/metrics`, next to forgejo's and
authelia's, and the store's vhost serves `= /metrics` behind a bare
`auth_request` to authelia. The rules derived from
`publishedScrapeTargets` admit the collector's client there and deny every
other subject. The loopback entry is gone, so a single host still scrapes
the store once, now by name.
On that vhost `/metrics` was reachable through the `/` location by any
authelia session. The exact-match location now takes it, so a session
gets a `deny` on `/metrics` and nothing else on the name changes.
Part of #5205
No access rule covered the push route on `metrics.<swarm>`, so a request
there fell to `default_policy = one_factor`: any logged-in session cookie
for the swarm could write samples into VictoriaMetrics.
The name now gets two rules with no `resources`: the collector's client
at `one_factor`, then `deny`. Only the push route and `/metrics` on that
vhost send an authelia subrequest (the read API, Grafana's datasource
included, is served with no check), and the collector is the one caller
of both, so a domain-wide pair covers them with no path or query regex
to slip past. It replaces the per-path `/metrics` pair the published
target would otherwise derive for that name. Both rules sit ahead of the
apex and store-UI rules, and authelia matches `domain` exactly, so they
shadow no other name.
Authelia 4.39.20, read from source: a rule with no `domain` wildcard
matches with `strings.EqualFold` (access_control_domain.go), an empty
`resources` or `subject` list matches everything (access_control_rule.go),
and the first matching rule wins (authorizer.go).
Fixes#5218
The store's own /metrics was scraped over loopback, declared under
deploy.victoriametrics.enable, so a collector on another host never had
a job for it. Declare it as a published target on every host instead,
keyed on swarm.victoriametrics.domain, and serve it on the metrics vhost
behind the existing authz subrequest. Authelia's per-target rules (one
collector rule, then deny) now cover it too.
The loopback entry goes, so a single-host swarm scrapes the store once.
`swarmctl login` (and any `--swarm` verb) on a controller host failed TLS
with `UnknownIssuer` against the swarm's own gateway: its leaf chains to
the store's `pki` root, which no system store holds, and the only way
through was `--ca-file`/`SWARMCTL_CA_FILE` by hand.
The host's swarmctl wrapper now sets `SSL_CERT_FILE` to the bundle the
swarm-controller daemon already trusts (`/run/swarm-controller-ca/
trust-bundle.pem`: system CAs plus the swarm's root), when the gateway is
self-signed. swarmctl's reqwest/rustls resolves roots the same way the
daemon's does, so this is the path the daemon uses to reach the same
gateway. `--set` rather than a default, since a nix shell exports its own
`SSL_CERT_FILE`.
Pointing `SWARMCTL_CA_FILE` at the bundle instead would not work (#5243):
`--ca-file` adds each certificate as a root and fails the whole client on
one it can't parse.
Hosts without the controller (an operator laptop) still need `--ca-file`.
Refs #5239Fixes#5243
#5215 moved authelia's scrape to `publishedScrapeTargets` and removed
its loopback entry from the authelia module. It was rebased at merge
onto c06aa78b6, which had already moved that loopback entry into
glue-otel-scrape-targets.nix, so the entry survived there. Every host
running authelia and the collector, `singleHostSwarm` included, then
failed swarm-otel.nix's job-name assertion.
The glue now declares only grafana and nats. forge-placement's case
that pinned authelia on loopback now pins its absence, and
swarm-otel-identity gains a case reading the assertion itself on the
single-host fixture, since the option-level case cannot fail a
rebuild the way the assertion does.
Fixes#5247
Authelia 4.39.20 matches `resources` against the cleaned path plus
`?<query>` (authorization/types.go:94 NewObject, utils/url.go:11-34
URLPathFullClean), while nginx's `= /metrics` serves the request whatever
its query. `^/metrics$` therefore missed `/metrics?x=1`: both the collector
rule and the trailing `deny` were skipped and a plain session reached
`default_policy = one_factor`. The pattern is now `^<path>([?].*)?$` for
every published target.
Forgejo strips trailing slashes before routing (routers/common/
middleware.go stripSlashesMiddleware) and serves metrics without a token
when none is configured, so `forge.<swarm>/metrics/` reached its metrics
through the ungated `/` location. The forge vhost now answers
`= /metrics/` with 404; nginx merges slashes and decodes `%2F` before
matching, so that also covers `/metrics//` and `/metrics%2F`.
Part of #5205
Authelia's metrics were scraped over loopback, declared only on a host
running both authelia and the collector, so a split deploy collected none.
Its target is now declared on every host as
`https://<swarm.authelia.domain>/metrics`, next to forgejo's, and authelia's
vhost serves `= /metrics` behind the same collector auth subrequest as the
forge's. The loopback entry is gone, so a single host still scrapes
authelia once, now by name.
The forge-only `metricsRule` becomes `metricsRules`, derived from every
`publishedScrapeTargets` entry. Each target gets the collector-scoped
`one_factor` rule followed by an unconditional `deny`. The `deny` is
needed because authelia 4.39 skips a rule whose `subject` does not
match and moves on. With nothing after the collector rule, any other
authenticated session reached `default_policy = one_factor` and was
admitted. That was already true of the forge's `/metrics`, and this
change closes it there too.
Part of #5205
The wg-hive allowedTCPPorts rule gated on deploy.wireguard.enable was a
cross-service toggle read in swarm-nats.nix; it now lives in
glue-nats-wireguard.nix under the same condition and value.
`swarmctl login --swarm X` failed with "unexpected argument", and
`login --help` listed no `--swarm`: the flag was only accepted before the
verb. `--swarm` and `--ca-file` are now global, so they parse on either side
of the subcommand and show in every subcommand's help.
`--swarm` / `SWARMCTL_SWARM` accept a bare domain and prepend `https://`.
A value with a scheme is parsed as before, so `http://` is still refused.
On a swarm-controller host, the swarmctl wrapper sets
`SWARMCTL_LOGIN_DEFAULT_SWARM=https://<swarm.domain>` (`--set-default`).
Only `login` reads it, after `--swarm` and `SWARMCTL_SWARM`. The wrapper
does not set `SWARMCTL_SWARM`: that would send every socket verb (agent
create, schedule, inference, forge) through the gateway and make each need
a login. Other verbs resolve exactly as before.
No CA file is wired. The only CA material the module names is the
controller's assembled trust bundle (system CAs plus the hive anchor).
`--ca-file` hands every certificate in it to rustls-platform-verifier as
an extra root, and that fails the whole client on any one it cannot
parse, so pointing it at the system CAs is a risk nothing here can test.
The controller daemon trusts the same CA through `SSL_CERT_FILE`, which
skips unparsable certificates; using that for swarmctl is left open.
Machines that are not swarm-controller hosts (an operator laptop) get no
default; that case waits on an answer in the issue.
Fixes#5239
The swarm settings gain `runtime` (`api-key`, the default, or `acp`) and
an `acp` provider record: an https base URL, the provider's model, and
its prices per million tokens. A PUT now changes only the fields its
body names, so the settings form that sends model, effort and limit
leaves the runtime alone; `null` clears `effort` or `acp`. The body stays
strict, and the stored document keeps #5192's lenient read.
The controller sends the runtime in each run request. On `acp` the
classifier runs one prompt on a new `opencode acp` session per
classification through hive-runtime's AcpRuntime, in a scratch
directory, with a config rendered from the settings. opencode runs
`read` and other tools without asking, so OPENCODE_PERMISSION
{"*":"deny"} takes every tool away from the model, and a deny-all policy
refuses any request on top. The title call, which resends the prompt,
is turned off. The deadline cancels the turn, and a turn that does not
end within 15s of that is dropped, which also covers an agent stuck
before its prompt. The answer is the final assistant text, as ACP has
no result event.
The provider key is read per run from
swarm/services/review-classifier/acp-provider, which the bao UI's
admins login may create and update, and reaches opencode through
AcpRuntime::with_provider_key and the trampoline's allowlist.
Each ACP classification's cost is computed from the configured prices
and the reported tokens, and added to
hyperhive.review_classifier.cost.usage labelled repo, pr, model and
currency.
Part of #5096
The hive collector's `settings` was `{ extensions.file_storage = …; … }
// lib.optionalAttrs senderAuth { extensions.oauth2client/swarm = …; }`.
`//` is shallow, so whenever senderAuth held (every valid hive config)
the right-hand `extensions` replaced the left one and `file_storage`
vanished, while `service.extensions` still listed it. `otelcol validate`
then failed the config.yaml build:
Error: service::extensions: references extension "file_storage" which is not configured
Broken by 02831fb5e (PR #5178), which added `extensions.file_storage`
to the left-hand attrset; the `//` block for the auth extension predates
it (cb787997bd). Both extensions now live in one `extensions` attrset.
module-eval-hive-otel gains a case that every name in
`service.extensions` is defined under `extensions`; it evaluates false
on the parent commit and true here.
Fixes#5240
argus's review on #5177: the git credential helper answered every `get`,
so a config PR's own flake inputs could have git send the builder's forge
token to any host. The helper is now configured under
`credential.<forge-url>.helper` and itself answers only an https request
whose host is the forge's; a test runs it as git does and checks that
other hosts, http and non-get operations get nothing.
Builds are bounded: every `build_agent` node needs the one `builder` jobq
resource, so one runs at a time and the rest wait pending, and a newer
head cancels its PR's pending build (a running one finishes and writes on
its own commit). The builder also holds a one-permit semaphore around each
build.
`builder` and `review-classifier`, the forge logins swarm-controller owns,
join nix/reserved-names.nix, with a test tying the list to both constants.
The builder is now opt-in like the CI runner: `allSwarmServices` no longer
turns it on, since it runs unreviewed config PRs through the host's nix
daemon. mara had not answered atlas's question on the PR.
A new `swarm-builder` service, in its own container on the host that sets
`deploy.builder.enable` (defaulted on by `allSwarmServices` where the host
has the builder's store leaf, like the review classifier).
When an `agent-configs/<agent>` PR is opened, reopened or synchronized,
swarm-controller queues a `build_agent` jobq node. The node sets a
`swarm-builder` commit status to pending on the PR head, sends
`{agent, rev, pr}` to the builder over NATS request-reply
(`$SWARM.builder.build`), and writes success (store path), failure (last
line nix printed) or error (no builder / no reply) on the head. The node
fails when the build does, so the Jobs page matches the PR.
The builder builds nix/builder/check-flake's `check` with every input
overridden: hyperhive and nixpkgs to the host's own
`c0re.hyperhiveFlake`/`c0re.nixpkgsFlake` (what a hive there renders into
its meta flake), and the agent to the PR head on the forge. Evaluation is
pure and runs in the container; builds go to the host nix daemon as an
untrusted client. The private config repo is fetched with the token of a
new read-only `builder` forge account (in the `hives` team), which the
controller mints into `swarm/services/builder/forge/token`; git gets it
from a credential helper reading the child's environment, so it is in no
argument or URL.
Credentials: a `builder` store leaf minted by glue-bao-tls on the store
host, a `swarm-builder` reader policy (forge token + its own OIDC client
secret), an authelia machine client, and a `--builder-client` grant in the
queue's auth-callout responder. The controller gains a grant on the token
path and the secret publisher a deny on it.
This is the agent-config build check atlas scoped on #5081 (slice 3):
nothing is pushed to a cache, nothing is written to KV, and a red status
gates no deploy. The check composes agent-base + the config without the
values a hive adds (CA, docs, claude-code path, ports, input follows), so
it can disagree with a hive's own build.
All agents on a host reach the gateway from one address and share one
limit_req budget; a host boot is one cache miss per agent at once.
Defaults go from 5r/s burst 20 to 50r/s burst 500. The module-eval case
reads the option values.
Any request on logs.<swarm> carrying a well-formed swarm-agent bearer
made swarm-logs-auth do a bao cert login and KV read before it could
refuse, with no cap on the rate.
nginx now applies limit_req (zone swarm_logs_agent_auth, keyed by
client address, 5r/s burst 20 nodelay by default) on the internal
location that forwards to swarm-logs-auth, answering 403 when over,
since auth_request passes through only 401/403 and swarm-logs retries
a 401. The authelia path and the query location carry no limit.
swarm-logs-auth remembers bearers it has granted, keyed by SHA-256 of
the bearer, for --verdict-ttl seconds (deploy.victorialogs.authVerdictTtl,
60 by default), holding at most 4096 and evicting the oldest. Denials
are never remembered. A replaced or deleted queue secret therefore
keeps working at the log store for up to the TTL after its last check.
Closes#5190
The publisher's `enable` default read `deploy.authelia.enable` from the
publisher's own module (swarm-secret-publisher.nix). It now defaults to
`false`, and glue-secret-publisher-authelia.nix sets it `mkDefault true`
wherever authelia runs, so the effective value is unchanged. The option
loses its `defaultText`, and its description names the glue.
The `deploy.authelia.enable` read in `active` stays: every file the unit
copies is under authelia's `hostClientSecretDir`, so it is a requirement
of the unit, not a co-location toggle.
Part of #3742.
The forgejo entry in `swarm.otel.publishedScrapeTargets` was declared
under `deploy.forgejo.enable`, so it existed only in the forge host's
evaluation. Its two readers evaluate elsewhere: the collector renders
its prometheus jobs from its own host's list, and authelia registers
the collector client's audience from its own host's list. With the
forge, the collector and authelia on different hosts, the collector
had no forgejo job and authelia would have refused its token.
Declare the entry unconditionally in swarm-otel-service.nix, keyed on
`swarm.forge.domain`, which every host evaluates identically. A swarm
with no forge scrapes a name that answers nothing and shows a failing
job, the same trade the collector and grafana OIDC clients already make.
Single-host render is unchanged: the entry already existed there.
