cb0a66147a fix(#2172): gate CLAUDE_CODE_OTEL_DIAG_STDERR on hyperhive.otel.debug
CLAUDE_CODE_OTEL_DIAG_STDERR was always set when OTEL is enabled, making
OTEL SDK errors (e.g. 404 from a misconfigured collector endpoint) appear
in every agent's stderr unconditionally. Move it behind a new opt-in flag.

Changes:
- nix/modules/hive-c0re.nix: add services.hyperhive.otel.debug (bool,
  default false); wire to HYPERHIVE_OTEL_DEBUG env on hive-c0re unit.
- hive-c0re/src/meta.rs: add debug field to OtelConfig; read
  HYPERHIVE_OTEL_DEBUG; emit hyperhive.otel.debug = true when set.
- nix/templates/harness-base.nix: add hyperhive.otel.debug internal
  option; move CLAUDE_CODE_OTEL_DIAG_STDERR out of otelSettingsEnv into
  a debug-gated lib.optionalAttrs block.

Default behaviour: OTEL exports silently (no stderr noise). Operators
troubleshooting collector connectivity set services.hyperhive.otel.debug
= true to re-enable the diagnostic output.

edad6f863c feat(#1886): trust a peer hive's root CA hive-wide for self-signed federation
Add swarm.peers.<domain>.caCert (path to a peer hive's root CA PEM),
trusted everywhere the hive's own internal CA is — so a self-signed
peer hive can federate (matrix) and any in-hive consumer validates its
certs.

Mechanism (reuses the existing hive-CA embedding): the meta-flake
renderer embeds a LIST of CA files next to each agent's flake —
hive-ca.pem (the hive's own self-signed CA, when active) plus each peer
caCert as peer-ca-<N>.pem — and emits them all in
security.pki.certificateFiles, so every agent trusts them at build
time. The matrix container trusts the same peer CAs for federation TLS.
Nothing is installed in the host trust store; the certs live in the nix
store (no mutable host file).

- meta.rs: embedded_ca_files() = hive CA + peer CAs (from new
  HIVE_PEER_CA_PATHS env); ca_embed_state() tracks the list (content +
  add/remove); sync_agents materialises + stages the list; render emits
  the multi-entry certificateFiles. Tests cover hive-only / hive+peers
  / peers-only / none.
- hive-c0re.nix: HIVE_PEER_CA_PATHS service env (colon-joined caCerts);
  caCert / certFingerprint option docs updated to the hive-wide scope.
- hive-matrix.nix + docs/swarm.md: scope + comment updates.

certFingerprint stays the c0re-only leaf-pin path.

4f3f6522d2 feat(tls): embed hive CA into agent flakes for self-signed trust
Wire agents to trust the gateway's self-signed leaf at build time. When
the gateway runs self-signed TLS, hive-tls sets HIVE_TLS_CA_PATH in
hive-c0re's service env pointing at the host hive CA cert. The meta flake
renderer reads it and, when present, writes the public CA cert next to
flake.nix as hive-ca.pem and emits security.pki.certificateFiles so every
agent's system trust store includes the hive CA.

Build-time embedding (rather than a runtime bind-mount + bundle service)
keeps trust robust: the CA travels with the flake source, lands in the
standard NixOS trust store, and needs no per-process SSL_CERT_FILE
plumbing. Only the public CA certificate is embedded; the CA private key
never leaves the host. The cert is re-embedded and re-committed on CA
rotation even when the flake is otherwise byte-identical; when self-signed
TLS is off the embedded cert is dropped so the flake stays buildable.

Covers OpenSSL-based tools (git, curl) directly. A follow-up switches the
hive-forge reqwest client to native roots so it picks up the same store.

c27f915e47 fix(meta): forward HIVE_FORGE_URL etc. into globalEnvironment
The forwarded host env vars (HIVE_FORGE_URL, HIVE_FORGE_PUBLIC_URL,
HYPERHIVE_HIVE_DOMAIN, ...) were emitted only into the harness
service's own unit environment. Under network isolation that left the
bash-task runner, the matrix daemon, tea-login and interactive shells
without HIVE_FORGE_URL, so `hive-forge` and friends fell back to the
loopback default (localhost:3000) — unreachable from a private netns,
where the in-cluster gateway URL (forge.<domain>) is the only path.

Emit the forwarded set into systemd.globalEnvironment too, which every
unit + shell in the container inherits, so all in-container surfaces
see the same forge/matrix endpoints. The existing harness-service
forward is kept (harmless redundancy). Shared netns is unaffected (the
localhost default still works there).

Adds a regression test asserting the forwarded vars land inside the
globalEnvironment block, and the generated flake parses.

734fe88858 fix(ci): unblock nix flake check after clippy 0.1.95 bump (#1368)
The nixpkgs bump to clippy 0.1.95 / cargo 1.95.0 added + strengthened a
large batch of lints. CI denied ALL warnings (`-D warnings`) against the
`pedantic = warn` workspace lint, so the bump hard-failed `nix flake
check` workspace-wide with zero code changes — and would recur on every
future clippy bump.

Posture fix (the durable part): CI now runs
`-D warnings -A clippy::pedantic`, so the default/correctness/style lints
stay a hard gate while the "extra, opinionated" pedantic group is
advisory only (still `warn` for local `cargo clippy` via the workspace
lints table, just non-blocking in CI). `-A` rather than `-W` so the
group drop doesn't re-enable the specific pedantic lints the workspace
allows (e.g. `must_use_candidate`).

Also fixes the genuine DEFAULT/STYLE lints the bump surfaced across the
workspace (doc_lazy_continuation, collapsible_if, ptr_arg,
match_like_matches_macro, …) via `cargo clippy --fix` + manual stragglers
(`too_many_arguments` #[allow] on the host-config constructors), and
three tests that had rotted while the CI runner was offline (#1221):
- topology::top_level_agents_in_multi_root — hardcoded unsorted expected
- rebuild_queue::depends_on_evicted_dep_counts_as_resolved — needs
  MAX_HISTORY_PER_KIND newer terminals to evict, not one
- coordinator::agent_paths doctest — illustrative pseudo-code, now `ignore`

Validated: clippy + formatting + cargo-test checks all pass.

1d062d1e3e fix: route gateway nginx control through hive-priv
systemctl --machine=hive-gateway requires root (machine-bus transport
enters the container namespace). hive-c0re is unprivileged, so every
call to nginx_active_state() and gateway_systemctl() silently failed
with exit 1, causing a continuous 30s retry loop without ever
syncing nginx.

Fix:
- Move state-aware nginx logic into hive-priv ReloadGatewayNginx:
  check ActiveState, then reload/reset-start/start accordingly.
  hive-priv already runs as root and has machine-bus rights.
- Remove nginx_active_state() and gateway_systemctl() from
  gateway_nginx.rs (they were always running unprivileged, always
  failing silently).
- Make write(), reload_if_pending(), reload_gateway_nginx() async so
  they can call the async priv_client without a blocking bridge.
- Update callers in agent_sockets::spawn_poll and meta::sync_agents
  to await the now-async functions.

The priv_client::reload_gateway_nginx() call and PrivRequest::ReloadGatewayNginx
wire type already existed — the gateway_nginx module was just not using them.

db50da570a refactor(#1003): nixpkgs + nixpkgs-unstable as top-level meta inputs
Per mara's direction: both nixpkgs and nixpkgs-unstable are now
top-level meta flake inputs with explicit store-path URLs. Hyperhive
follows them rather than the other way around:

  inputs.nixpkgs.url            = "path:${pkgs.path}";
  inputs.nixpkgs-unstable.url   = "path:${nixpkgs-unstable}";
  inputs.hyperhive.url          = "...";
  inputs.hyperhive.inputs.nixpkgs.follows            = "nixpkgs";
  inputs.hyperhive.inputs.nixpkgs-unstable.follows   = "nixpkgs-unstable";

New NixOS host options (auto-set at build time, overridable):
  services.hyperhive.c0re.nixpkgsFlake
    default: "path:${pkgs.path}" — host's evaluated nixpkgs.
  services.hyperhive.c0re.nixpkgsUnstableFlake
    default: "path:${nixpkgs-unstable}" from hyperhive's flake.nix —
    the channel that carries claude-code. Operators can override to
    track a different unstable snapshot.

Legacy fallback (both args empty) preserved for backward compat.
Two new Rust tests cover the full-URL and fallback paths.

fe5a41288d feat(#1003): inject pkgs.path into meta flake as explicit nixpkgs.url
meta flake was using `nixpkgs.follows = "hyperhive/nixpkgs"` but
`hyperhive` is a store-path input, so nix resolves hyperhive's own
pinned lock rather than the host's follows-substituted version.
When an operator sets `inputs.hyperhive.inputs.nixpkgs.follows =
"nixpkgs"` in their host flake, the meta flake was silently ignoring
it and using hyperhive's pinned nixpkgs instead.

Fix: hive-c0re.nix injects `--nixpkgs-flake path:${pkgs.path}` into
the daemon's ExecStart. `pkgs` IS the host's nixpkgs when follows is
set; otherwise it's hyperhive's own pin — so the meta flake gets the
right nixpkgs in both cases. render_flake emits `nixpkgs.url = "..."`
(explicit) when nixpkgs_flake is non-empty, falling back to the old
`follows` form when empty for backward compat.

4bff450343 feat(gateway): hivectl gateway user management + fix htpasswdFile assertion
Add `hivectl gateway {create-user,delete-user,list-users}` subcommands for
managing htpasswd files used by gateway Basic auth. Pure Rust bcrypt
(cost 12, $2y$ prefix nginx accepts). No external htpasswd binary required.

Also fix the NixOS module assertion: `cfg.auth ? htpasswdFile` is always
true in the module system (declared options always exist as keys); switch
to `nullOr path; default = null` + `!= null` check so the assertion
actually fires with a useful error when enable=true but no file is set.
Guard bind-mount and nginx config against null to prevent eval errors.

Update docs/gateway.md to show hivectl commands instead of raw htpasswd.

994f53d06f fix(#978): stage roles.json in sync_agents alongside topology.json
topology::reconcile_roles writes roles.json to the meta dir, but
sync_agents never staged it. After #978 merged, roles.json showed up
as an untracked file in the meta repo (visible in `git status`) because
it followed the same pattern as topology.json and tool-groups.json but
was missed in the git add list.

Add the same conditional stage for roles.json: git add is a no-op when
the file is unchanged or absent, matching the existing pattern.

07434e8f50 gateway: hot-reload agents.conf at runtime (#869)
Replace eval-time per-agent nginx location baking with a runtime
include file. c0re writes /var/lib/hyperhive/agents.conf (nginx
location blocks, UDS or TCP per agent) on every topology change and
on the 10s marker poll. The gateway container bind-mounts
/var/lib/hyperhive/ at /run/hive-state/ and nginx includes
/run/hive-state/agents.conf. A systemd path unit inside the container
watches the file for changes and fires `nginx -s reload` on each
atomic rename from c0re — no nixos-rebuild switch needed when agents
start, stop, or flip useUnixSocket.

shape mirrors agent_ports.rs:
- BTreeMap for deterministic JSON output

- idempotent (skip rewrite when content unchanged)
- MANAGER_NAME filter (gateway routes manager via dashboard upstream,
  not /agent/<n>/)

socket_path_for(name) is pure-deterministic so a name alone resolves
to the same path the c0re writes + the harness binds via
HIVE_WEB_SOCKET (post-PR #800).

8377600f0c nix/meta: follow hyperhive's nixpkgs instead of duplicating channel pin
mara via triage on #619 (post-merge follow-up):
> "I thought all nixpkgs follow the one hyperhive was deployed
> with?! if not, thats what we should fix."

This is the fix. Flip the rendered meta flake from:

    nixpkgs.url = "github:NixOS/nixpkgs/nixos-26.05";
    nixpkgs-unstable.url = "github:NixOS/nixpkgs/nixpkgs-unstable";
    hyperhive.url = "...";
    hyperhive.inputs.nixpkgs.follows = "nixpkgs";
    hyperhive.inputs.nixpkgs-unstable.follows = "nixpkgs-unstable";

to:

    hyperhive.url = "...";
    nixpkgs.follows = "hyperhive/nixpkgs";
    nixpkgs-unstable.follows = "hyperhive/nixpkgs-unstable";

Net effect: hyperhive's `flake.nix` is the single channel-pin
authority. Operators who want to slide the whole swarm onto a
different channel do it at the host level via
`inputs.hyperhive.inputs.nixpkgs.follows = "nixpkgs"`, which makes
hyperhive's nixpkgs = the host's nixpkgs and cascades through every
agent transparently.

This is the same shape I shipped in #619 v1 (then reverted per mara
on comment 7354, then re-affirmed via triage). Going with the
re-affirmed direction.

Closes #317 invariant still satisfied — `nixpkgs` is a single
canonical name in the meta tree, just resolving through hyperhive
instead of being its own root input.

Tests:
- rename `render_flake_declares_canonical_nixpkgs` →
  `render_flake_aliases_nixpkgs_to_hyperhive`, asserts the new
  follows-form AND the absence of any literal `nixpkgs.url`
- drop `render_flake_collapses_hyperhive_nixpkgs_via_follows` (no
  separate meta-level nixpkgs to collapse anymore)

d12da84740 nix/meta: keep concrete nixpkgs.url per mara on #619
mara on #619 comment 7354:
> agent flake needs the url actually so the configuring agent
> can eval against it

Reverts the meta.rs `nixpkgs.follows = "hyperhive/nixpkgs"` shape from
this PR's earlier commit. Restores the pre-PR rendered shape with the
concrete `nixpkgs.url = "github:NixOS/nixpkgs/nixos-26.05"` baked
into meta + the `hyperhive.inputs.nixpkgs.follows = "nixpkgs"`
redirect, so a configuring agent (or manager pre-apply check) can
evaluate the rendered meta flake without having to resolve through
hyperhive first.

Net behaviour for this PR is now:
- `flake.nix` line 5 bumped 25.11 → 26.05 (kept)
- `meta.rs` literal bumped to match (channel-pin in two places stays
  acknowledged as duplication — drift fixable later if needed)
- `flake_check.rs` test fixtures bumped cosmetically (kept)
- meta.rs tests restored to assert the concrete-URL shape

3 meta tests pass via `nix develop -c cargo test`.
