738dd1c95b swarm-controller: split main.rs into jobq, routes and startup modules
no behaviour change: a pure move of items and tests into new modules, plus
visibility edits (pub(crate)) and path updates in sibling modules that named
crate-root items. same routes, same OpenAPI, 561 tests before and after.

why: #5470, new features stop landing in one 6.4k-line file by default.

files outside swarm-controller/src: docs/agent-lifecycle/agent-roster.md,
swarm-ui JobsPage.tsx and AgentsPage.tsx, nix/host-modules/swarm-controller.nix
and swarm-grafana.nix hold comments that named main.rs for items that moved.

b68a8ef290 swarm-authelia: run the secret publisher and a journal forwarder inside the container
swarm-secret-publish and its path unit now run inside authelia's container,
beside the mint, and read each client secret at the path authelia writes it.
The host unit and host path unit, which read the secrets through the
container's root on the host, are gone, and so is
deploy.authelia.hostClientSecretDir, which only they read. The publisher keeps
its store identity, the secret-publisher leaf. The host hands the leaf and the
store's CA into the container as nspawn system credentials, and the unit loads
them; where this host mints the leaf, the container waits for swarm-bao-pki.
Authelia does not wait for the publisher, which retries every 30 seconds while
the store is down.

The container also runs the journal forwarder the other service containers
run, pushing to a receiver of its own on the swarm collector (serviceProducers
swarm-authelia) as a new machine OIDC client (swarm.authelia.otel.clientId)
that authelia registers for itself and the publisher carries to the store. The
fetch unit reads it back under the publisher's leaf, also handed to it as a
system credential, so the swarm-secret-publisher policy gains read on that one
leaf; its stanza keeps create and update, which the exact path would otherwise
take from the services/* prefix. Without the leaf the forwarder is off.

The container drops --link-journal=host, and the host collector stops reading
it. The services' "nothing at <path>" errors name the publisher in authelia's
container.

141be16c6d hive-forge: the controller-token mint writes straight to the store, and the on-disk token goes
`forgejo-swarm-controller-account`, in the forge's container, now puts
the swarm-controller's forge token into the swarm secret store itself,
under the forge publisher's leaf. The container already receives that
leaf as nspawn system credentials for its journal forwarder; the mint
loads the same three. The token reaches bao on stdin (`value=-`) and
the forge's API through a header file, never as an argument, and never
touches disk.

The mint's guard is a marker holding the published token's name, at
/var/lib/forgejo/swarm-controller-token-name, written last: after the
put, and after every other `swarm-controller-boot-*` token of the
account is revoked through forgejo's admin API, authenticated as the
new token. So a put that failed, or a marker lost while the store kept
an older token, leaves no live token behind once a mint completes. The
mint logs in to the store and checks that the account is a site admin
before it mints, so a store that is down or an account the admin API
would refuse mints nothing on each retry. Failures retry under
store-retry; forgejo does not wait for the mint. No bao read and no
grant change: the forge publisher keeps create/update on the token.

Removed: the host's `swarm-bao-forge-publisher` service and path unit,
which read the token file through the container's root, and their
entries in the store and policy ordering glue. The forge publisher's
policy unit stays; `swarm-bao-forge-oidc` still uses the leaf.

On deploy, an existing forge host has no marker, so the mint runs once:
it mints a new token, publishes it, revokes the old one, and deletes
the old /var/lib/forgejo/swarm-controller-token. The controller's next
forge call gets a 401, re-reads the store and carries on.

92559af8e7 gateway: serve the hive dashboard on <hive>.hives.<swarm> behind authelia, drop htpasswd
The dashboard, its API, the swagger UI and the agent routes move to their
own vhost, `swarm.dashboardDomain` = `<hive>.hives.<swarm.domain>`, under
the swarm domain so authelia's session cookie reaches it. `/`, `/api/` and
`/api/docs/` ask authelia through `auth_request`, and authelia's
`operatorsOnly` rule for each hive's dashboard name lets only the admins
group in. The hive domain keeps matrix discovery and redirects every other
path to the new name.

The name rides as a SAN on the hive's own gateway leaf: the per-hive bao
role allows it, and hive-tls asks for it and checks coverage.

HTTP Basic auth is gone: the htpasswd writer and its test, the
`hivectl gateway` verbs and host-socket requests, the `gateway.auth`
options (now a removed-option error), the unauthorized page and the bcrypt
dependency. tmpfiles deletes a leftover gateway.htpasswd, which held
bcrypt hashes at 0644.

c0re hands out dashboard and agent URLs on the new name
(HYPERHIVE_DASHBOARD_DOMAIN), and the swarm controller's hive roster
carries each hive's dashboard name for the swarm UI's hive list.

7d09776742 swarm UI: an alerts page, read by the controller with a Viewer Grafana token from bao
swarm-bao-grafana-controller-token, on the host that runs Grafana, logs in
to Grafana's API over its socket as the built-in admin (the password
swarm-bao-grafana-admin minted, #5138) and keeps a `swarm-controller`
service account that is an enabled Viewer. It mints a token for that
account and writes it to bao at
swarm/controller/swarm-controller/grafana/token under Grafana's leaf. A
ten-minute timer runs it again. The unit keeps a stored token Grafana
accepts. If Grafana refuses the stored token with 401, or bao holds
none, the unit deletes every token of the account and mints a new one.
Grafana's grant gains create/read/update on that leaf, and the
controller's gains read.

swarm-controller serves GET /api/alerts from Grafana's
/api/prometheus/grafana/api/v1/alerts. It reads the token from bao,
keeps it in memory, and re-reads bao once on a 401. The HTTP client has
5s connect and 15s request timeouts. Any failure is a 503 that names its
cause. swarm-ui gets an /alerts page listing them, built the same way as
the hives page.

This is option (c) on #5129, the operator's choice.

7d24feaf25 swarmctl: on a controller host, trust the swarm's root without SWARMCTL_CA_FILE
`swarmctl login` (and any `--swarm` verb) on a controller host failed TLS
with `UnknownIssuer` against the swarm's own gateway: its leaf chains to
the store's `pki` root, which no system store holds, and the only way
through was `--ca-file`/`SWARMCTL_CA_FILE` by hand.

The host's swarmctl wrapper now sets `SSL_CERT_FILE` to the bundle the
swarm-controller daemon already trusts (`/run/swarm-controller-ca/
trust-bundle.pem`: system CAs plus the swarm's root), when the gateway is
self-signed. swarmctl's reqwest/rustls resolves roots the same way the
daemon's does, so this is the path the daemon uses to reach the same
gateway. `--set` rather than a default, since a nix shell exports its own
`SSL_CERT_FILE`.

Pointing `SWARMCTL_CA_FILE` at the bundle instead would not work (#5243):
`--ca-file` adds each certificate as a root and fails the whole client on
one it can't parse.

Hosts without the controller (an operator laptop) still need `--ca-file`.

7d95973d83 swarmctl: --swarm works after the subcommand, takes a bare domain, and login defaults to the host's swarm
`swarmctl login --swarm X` failed with "unexpected argument", and
`login --help` listed no `--swarm`: the flag was only accepted before the
verb. `--swarm` and `--ca-file` are now global, so they parse on either side
of the subcommand and show in every subcommand's help.

`--swarm` / `SWARMCTL_SWARM` accept a bare domain and prepend `https://`.
A value with a scheme is parsed as before, so `http://` is still refused.

On a swarm-controller host, the swarmctl wrapper sets
`SWARMCTL_LOGIN_DEFAULT_SWARM=https://<swarm.domain>` (`--set-default`).
Only `login` reads it, after `--swarm` and `SWARMCTL_SWARM`. The wrapper
does not set `SWARMCTL_SWARM`: that would send every socket verb (agent
create, schedule, inference, forge) through the gateway and make each need
a login. Other verbs resolve exactly as before.

No CA file is wired. The only CA material the module names is the
controller's assembled trust bundle (system CAs plus the hive anchor).
`--ca-file` hands every certificate in it to rustls-platform-verifier as
an extra root, and that fails the whole client on any one it cannot
parse, so pointing it at the system CAs is a risk nothing here can test.
The controller daemon trusts the same CA through `SSL_CERT_FILE`, which
skips unparsable certificates; using that for swarmctl is left open.

Machines that are not swarm-controller hosts (an operator laptop) get no
default; that case waits on an answer in the issue.

f9954b91b4 nix: run swarm-ui wherever swarm-controller runs
Remove deploy.swarm-ui.enable. Every reader (the swarm-ui vhost, the
authelia operator rule for the swarm apex, hive-network's
anyServiceEnabled) now reads deploy.swarm-controller.enable, and the
controller's webhook public URL is gated on the swarm domain alone,
since the vhost it names exists wherever the daemon does.

Both spellings of the old switch (deploy.swarm-ui.enable and the
already-renamed swarm.ui.enable) become mkRemovedOptionModule entries,
so a host that still sets either fails evaluation with a message
naming the controller toggle instead of silently changing.

Ruling (mara, #3742): "swarm-ui always runs wherever controller runs".

597fdebaf3 swarm-bao-forge-publisher starts on the deploy that adds it
The publisher was wanted only by container@hive-forge.service. A switch
starts a new unit only through the targets that want it, and the container
is already running, so the deploy that introduced the publisher left it dead
until the next container restart or boot; the path unit cannot help, because
the mint's only-once guard never rewrites the file.

- The publisher is also wanted by multi-user.target, like swarm-secret-publish.
- A token file that is not there yet exits 0 instead of waiting 120s and
failing: the path unit runs the publisher when the mint writes it, so a
switch with the forge container down does not fail. TimeoutStartSec is 60.
- swarm-controller loses its After= on the publisher: a switch issues the two
jobs separately, so it ordered nothing there, and the background re-read
  covers the gap.
- The controller's background re-read logs at info once the backoff is
capped, one line per five minutes, so a forge host that never got its
publisher leaf stays visible; earlier retries stay at debug.

c45f7a5330 swarm-controller gains forge access when the token arrives, without a restart
A controller that started before the forge's host had published its token
ran without forge access until someone restarted it: on a split-host first
deploy that is a manual step. Now the forge client lives in a slot that is
filled once (`Late<T>`, an `Arc<OnceLock<T>>`):

- `forge::enable` tries the store once at start. On failure it logs once and
re-reads in the background with backoff (30s doubling to a 5-minute cap,
no log per retry), fills the slot and logs once when the token is there.
- The forge passes (#5014's per-hive token mint among them), the config-PR
poll and the webhook registration start from that moment, through
  `start_forge`'s callback.
- Job nodes and HTTP handlers read the slot when they run, so they answer
"no forge" before and work after.

A token replaced in the store after the slot is filled still reaches the
controller with its next restart. The round-1 change that shared
`queue_identity::fetch_with_retry` is reverted; nothing else uses it.

121c4678aa swarm-controller reads its forge token from the store, not a host file
The controller's forge token never entered bao: the forge minted it in its
container, hive-forge-swarm-controller-token copied it to a host file, and the
controller LoadCredential'ed that file. forgeTokenFile defaulted to that path
only where the forge ran, so a controller on any other host had no forge
access unless an operator copied the file by hand.

Now the forge's host publishes it and the controller reads it:

- swarm-bao-forge-publisher (replaces hive-forge-swarm-controller-token)
waits for the in-container token, logs in with its own forge-publisher leaf
and writes it to swarm/controller/swarm-controller/forge/token. It runs on
every forge container start, the old unit's trigger.
- New principal swarm-forge-publisher: leaf minted by glue-bao-tls.nix,
policy create/update on that one path, written by
swarm-bao-forge-publisher-policy, CN reserved as a hive name.
- The controller policy gains read on that path. swarm-controller reads it
at start under its own certificate with the OIDC secret's retry, and runs
without forge access if it still cannot.
- forgeTokenFile, its LoadCredential and the forgeEnv gate are gone;
SWARM_CONTROLLER_FORGE_URL is always set. hostSwarmControllerTokenFile is
removed, and a tmpfiles rule deletes the old host copy on the forge host.

The in-container file stays: the mint unit's only-once guard reads it, and
it is the publisher's source.

93f1a76ea7 swarm CA: retire the host-held root CA, the store holds the only anchor
The secret store's pki root issues every hive's gateway leaf and the
swarm's service names, so the root swarm-ca.service generated on the
host anchors nothing and its key is a secret outside the store.

- swarm-ca.nix is gone: swarm-ca.service, root.pem and root-key.pem,
  and the swarm.ca.{autoConfigure,stateDir,validityDays} options. A
definition of any of them fails evaluation with a removal message
  (swarm-ca-removed.nix), and a tmpfiles rule deletes /var/lib/swarm-ca
on every host. singleHostSwarm no longer sets a swarm.* option.
- hive-tls-ca drops the $root slot: trust-bundle.pem holds the store's
pki root and a hive CA's public ca.pem/ca-previous.pem only.
- hivectl peer-config no longer prints the scp line for the swarm root;
the store's pki root is the one step.
- The gateway's cert import no longer stands a hive leaf or a throwaway
in for a missing swarm-services leaf where it Requires= the issuing
unit: it fails, naming swarm-services-cert.service. The stand-in stays
where the gateway does not wait (no swarm name, or the store's UI
only, whose passthrough must start with the store sealed).

Comments and docs that named swarm-ca.nix, swarm.ca.* or the host root
now name the store's pki root.

962c1548eb swarm-controller: revoke matrix admin from former operators
The operator admin sync now also takes homeserver admin away. It records
each user id it sends `make-user-admin` for in
`operator-matrix-admins.json` under the controller's state directory
(written to a temporary file and renamed over it; a missing file is an
empty set). On each pass, a recorded account that is no longer in
authelia's `admins` group but is still joined to `#admins:<server>` is
sent `!admin users force-leave-room <user> <admin room id>` as `@swarm`,
over the same `/_matrix` path the grant uses. Leaving that room is what
ends tuwunel admin.

It never revokes an admin it didn't grant, `@swarm`, tuwunel's server
user (`@conduit:<server>`), an agent's account (the store's
`hive-agent-*` cert roles, the same roster the agent account mint uses),
or anyone in the new `services.hyperhive.swarm.matrix.adminSync.ignoreUsers`
list. That list reaches the daemon as
`SWARM_CONTROLLER_MATRIX_ADMIN_SYNC_IGNORE_USERS`. It also never sends a
revoke that would leave `#admins` with no member besides `@swarm` and the
server user.

A revoke is sent at most once per account per controller process, like a
grant. A recorded account that is out of both the group and the room is
dropped from the file.

962da3b784 swarm: OIDC clients registered wherever authelia runs; nats + matrix secrets from bao
The three client registrations move into glue-{controller,nats,matrix}-oidc-client.nix,
gated only on deploy.authelia.enable and reading their ids from swarm.* options,
so the host running authelia registers every one of them whichever host runs
the service. The matrix callback is a new read-only swarm.matrix.sso.redirectUri,
read by both the homeserver's config and its client entry.

swarm-secret-publish now also publishes the queue's and the homeserver's minted
secrets to swarm/services/<id>/oidc/client. The queue host reads its responder's
secret there with swarm-bao-nats-auth-oidc under the responder's own leaf
(swarm-nats-auth role gains that one read path), and the homeserver's host with
swarm-bao-matrix-oidc under matrix-ctl's leaf (swarm-matrix-ctl role gains its
one read path). The host-file copies are gone: swarm-nats-auth-secrets now
delivers only the callout seeds and the store identity, and
hive-matrix-oidc-secret is removed. A fetch unit whose leaf is unset still
renders and fails naming the option pair.

6b1e825c0a swarm-otel: ship the whole host journal, drop user sessions after it
The swarm collector's journald receiver read only the units listed in
`services.hyperhive.swarm.otel.journaldUnits`. A unit nobody listed
never reached the store, and a misspelt entry shipped nothing without
an error. The list existed to keep an operator's desktop session out of
a store every swarm operator can read, but the receiver can only match
positively, so the only way to express "not user sessions" was to name
every service instead.

The receiver now reads the whole host journal, and a new
`filter/exclude-user-sessions` processor in the `logs/<swarm>` pipeline
drops records whose `_SYSTEMD_SLICE` is `user-<uid>.slice` (session
scopes and `user@<uid>.service`). The per-hive `logs/<hive>` pipelines
carry agent-container journals only and get no filter.

`journaldUnits` is removed with `mkRemovedOptionModule`, together with
its non-empty assertion and the entry each host module added. The four
module-eval membership checks go with it, replaced by one structural
case in swarm-otel-core.

e94406cdb9 swarm-controller: read the queue client secret from the store, drop the file
Some checks were skipped
public bin cache / build + push to preem:grid (push) Has been skipped
The controller's OIDC client secret (client `swarm-controller`, used for
the queue connection, the auth-bridge bearer and the OTLP push) came from
an operator-placed file, `deploy.swarm-controller.queue.clientSecretFile`,
handed in by `LoadCredential=`.

Now `swarm-secret-publish`, which already copies authelia's minted OIDC
secrets into the store, also publishes this one, to
`swarm/controller/swarm-controller/oidc/client`. That path sits under
`controller/`, which no hive's policy reads. The controller reads it once
at start with its existing store certificate and holds it in memory, as
`swarm_queue_client::ClientSecret::Value`. If the store is down, it
retries for about a minute and then fails the start, so `Restart=` tries
again.

Policy delta: the controller gets `read` on that leaf, and the publisher
gets `create`/`update` on that leaf.

Removed: the `queue.clientSecretFile` option (both spellings, now removed
options with a message), its singleHostSwarm default, the credential and
placeholder, and the path watcher plus its restart oneshot. A controller
without a store identity is now an eval error, because it has no other
way to get the secret.

6170e74a31 swarm-bao: agent certificates issued by a store-generated agent CA
An agent's store identity was signed in swarm-controller's memory by a CA
a controller-host unit generated on disk, and the listener never trusted
that CA. Agent leaves now come from the store itself: a `pki-agents` PKI
mount whose root openbao generates internally, so the agent CA's key
never exists outside the store.

- swarm-bao-agent-pki (new, store host, as the bao granter): enables and
tunes the mount, generates the root once (guarded on an empty issuer
list, no replace branch), upserts the `swarm-agent` role (client
certificates named `hive-agent-*` only, 90 days), caches the CA at
/var/lib/swarm-bao-tls/agent-ca.pem and composes the listener bundle.
- The listener's tls_client_ca_file is a new listener-client-ca.pem
(client-ca.pem, then the agent CA). Host cert-auth roles still pin
client-ca.pem, so an agent leaf satisfies no host role. swarm-bao-certs
composes the same bundle before openbao starts.
- openbao reads tls_client_ca_file only at start, so when the bundle
changed after openbao started, swarm-bao-agent-pki restarts
openbao.service in the container; under `seal = "shamir"` it prints
the step instead. Once swarm-bao-certs has a cached CA, later boots
start openbao with it and do not restart.
- The controller policy gains exactly `update` on
pki-agents/issue/swarm-agent. mint_and_verify now asks that role for
the leaf (the store generates the key), writes the agent's cert-auth
role pinning the issuing CA bao returned, and writes the agent's
policy as render_agent alone: the hive-shared queue credential stanza
  is gone.
- deploy.bao.agentPkiRoleName (must start `swarm-`, asserted with the
other pki role names); swarm-controller gets
  SWARM_CONTROLLER_AGENT_PKI_MOUNT/_ROLE from the deploy.bao options.

Deleted: swarm-controller-agent-ca and its options (agentCaFile,
agentCaKeyFile), env, LoadCredential entries and assertion;
agent_identity's Authority, rcgen signing and validity window; the
rcgen and time dependencies of swarm-controller (rcgen leaves the
workspace); policy::render_agent_with_queue and its tests. The CN-prefix
assertion policy.rs said was owed is not: agent and host roles pin
different CAs.

Migration is re-creating each agent after deploy; that overwrites the
stale role and policy.

3202cde704 nix: gate hive-c0re on deploy.hive-controller.enable, drop hyperhive.enable
`services.hyperhive.enable` and `services.hyperhive.c0re.enable` are gone.
One switch, `services.hyperhive.deploy.hive-controller.enable` (default
false, as the old toggle was), now gates hive-c0re and hive-priv. Both old
paths are `mkRenamedOptionModule` shims in deploy.nix, so a host config
that still sets either evaluates as before and gets a rename warning.

Every other read of the old toggle is resolved, including the 29 made
through the `hyperhiveCfg`/`hiveCfg` aliases:

- Dropped: each swarm service and its glue keeps only its own deploy
toggle (authelia, bao and its PKI glue, grafana, victorialogs,
victoriametrics, the secret publisher, swarm-ca, the OIDC client rows,
  the controller/nats/matrix-ctl/publisher/services-issuer identities),
the forge, and the `domain` deprecation warning.
- To deploy.hive-controller.enable: the queue-agent credential reader and
its assertion, which feed hive-c0re and write under its state dir, plus
their policy-order entry; the network identity assertions; hive-tls's
  two writes into hive-c0re's environment.
- hive-tls runs where the gateway runs self-signed
  (`gateway.enable && useSelfSigned`), not on every host.
- The matrix appservice-token reader and its assertion stay on
`deploy.matrix.enable` plus their client-identity checks. They read
deploy.matrix's token file and registration script; their deploy.bao
inputs are the client-half options a hive sets to read a store it does
not run, so gating on deploy.bao.enable would drop the tested
  remote-reader case.
- The `hiveName` assertion moves from hive-network.nix to hyperhive.nix
and fires wherever the hive, the store or the homeserver runs: each
turns the name into an identifier with no fallback.

On a host with `deploy.allSwarmServices` and no hive, the documented
services-host recipe, authelia, bao, grafana, victorialogs,
victoriametrics, the OIDC client rows and the hive CA now render; before,
the old toggle being off left them out.

20419ccd41 swarm-controller: own the swarm-wide forge objects; hive-c0re stops creating them
The orgs agent-configs/internal/agents (plus mirror owners), the
operators team in agents and agent-configs, the pull-mirrors,
internal/docs, internal/knowledge (public, README-seeded) and the
agent-configs org avatar are one set per forge. hive-c0re ensured them in
its boot sweep, as the core admin, and only on the hive co-located with
the forge container.

swarm-controller now reconciles them at start and every 5 minutes
(forge/objects.rs: observe -> pure plan -> apply). A failed object logs
a warn line plus a pass summary and is retried next tick. create_repo
ensures the agent-configs org and its operators team first, so a config
repo's merge gate never depends on the periodic pass having run.

hive-c0re drops ensure_org, SEEDED_ORGS, ensure_mirrors/ensure_mirror_repo,
ensure_operators_team, ensure_shared_docs_repo, ensure_knowledge_repo/
set_repo_public, seed_readme, ensure_config_org_avatar and the one-shot
knowledge::remove_webhook cleanup, with their now-unused helpers.

nix: the mirror list moves from the hive-c0re unit
(HYPERHIVE_FORGE_MIRRORS) to the swarm-controller unit
(SWARM_CONTROLLER_FORGE_MIRRORS), with an eval warning when mirrors are
declared on a host that runs no controller. c0re.orgAvatarPng is renamed
to deploy.swarm-controller.configOrgAvatarPng.

2776e121e5 swarm-controller: mint each agent's matrix account with the swarm's token
A `MintAgentMatrixAccount` node creates the agent's account on the swarm's
homeserver with the swarm appservice token, stores its token at
`swarm/agents/<agent>/matrix/main`, and reads it back with whoami before
reporting success. It is a root of agent creation, `after_any` into the
deploy, and a five-minute backfill over every agent with a store identity
queues the same node — the shape of the forge-token mint.

The decision reads the stored token back rather than only checking that one
is stored: the swarm and a hive both pin the device `hyperhive-<agent>`, so
each login replaces the other's token. A failed read plans nothing, so an
outage never rotates every agent's token.

`matrixHomeserverUrl` now defaults to the swarm's `chat.` vhost, since the
mint is what consults it.

978164dc53 nix: run the forge on one host per swarm (deploy.forgejo.enable)
Every hive with hyperhive enabled ran its own hive-forge container, and
its gateway answered forge.<swarm> with its own bridge IP, so on a
multi-host swarm each hive talked to its own forge.

deploy.forgejo.enable defaults to false and allSwarmServices sets it with
mkDefault, like authelia and bao; singleHostSwarm gets it through that.
The forge's OIDC client moves to a glue module gated on authelia, so a
split authelia/forge swarm still registers it. CI now requires the forge
on the same host, and the controller's forgeTokenFile defaults to null

a5259146dc swarm: default every queue URL to the queue's name on every hive
A remote hive dialled nothing until an operator copied the queue's URL
into it, though the URL is the same string everywhere. statusPublish.natsUrl,
queue.agentNatsUrl and controller.queue.natsUrl now default to
tls://<swarm.nats.domain>:<port> unconditionally.

The statusPublish assertion treated a URL without a secret as a half
config. With the URL a default on every hive, only the secret claims
publishing: the assertion now refuses a secret without a URL or token
endpoint, and hive-c0re's status environment is gated on the secret too,
so a hive without one publishes nothing instead of reading a missing
credential.

1d261b3fed swarm-nats: give the queue a name, a bao-issued leaf, and require TLS
The queue listened in plaintext on 4222, reached by bridge IP or loopback,
and nothing in-tree opened it to another hive. It now has a name, serves a
certificate for that name alone, and refuses clients that do not speak TLS.

- `swarm.nats.domain`, default `nats.<swarm.domain>`, a sibling name like
  `swarm.bao.domain`. The queue host answers it via `gateway.localNames`;
every other hive resolves it through the operator's DNS, as for bao.
- `pki/roles/swarm-nats` allows that one name (bare domain, no subdomains,
IPs or localhost, server flag). A `swarm-nats` cert-auth role and policy
may only `update` `pki/issue/swarm-nats`, written by
`swarm-bao-nats-tls-policy`. The login leaf is minted by glue-bao-tls and
paired by glue-nats-bao-identity. `deploy.bao.natsCommonName` is reserved
  as a hive name.
- `swarm-bao-nats-tls` issues the leaf into a directory bound read-only into
the container, restarts nats when it rotates, and re-runs daily.
It joins glue-bao-readers-policy-order, so it is ordered after its policy
unit (`after` and `wants`, never `requires`) where the store is on the
same host. The policy unit joins the store's journald list.
- nats gets `tls {}`, with the key via `LoadCredential`, and no
`allow_non_tls`. `validateConfig` is now off in every mode, because the
build-time check loads a leaf that only exists at runtime.
- 4222 is also open on `wg-hive` when the host is on the mesh, never
  host-wide.
- `statusPublish.natsUrl`, `queue.agentNatsUrl`, the controller's URL under
`singleHostSwarm`, and the auth responder all dial
`tls://<swarm.nats.domain>:<port>`. swarm-queue-client hands its CA file
to the NATS connection too, so hive-c0re and the controller trust the
  leaf's root.
- docs/swarm/README.md: the queue URL and the one DNS record a multi-host
  swarm needs.

module-eval-nats-tls pins the role, the policy, the served leaf, the
firewall, the ordering, and a scan of every `*_NATS_URL` and the
responder's URL across the host and its containers.

Review response on #4620: not having SSO is not a supported

explaining why SSO is always present is redundant once the type says
so.

- swarm.authelia.url drops types.nullOr.
- Every consumer's null-arm is gone: two option defaults
  (swarm-controller's and swarm's own statusPublish.tokenEndpoint)
that produced an empty/null placeholder when the URL was null now
unconditionally compute the real derived URL. Five now-dead
  "assertion = ... != null" guards (swarm-authelia's bridge,
  swarm-grafana, swarm-otel, swarm-nats, hive-forge, hive-matrix) are
removed as unreachable — in every case the same URL was already
interpolated unconditionally a few lines below the guard.
- grafanaNoSso, the module-eval fixture whose sole purpose was
exercising the now-unsupported no-IdP refusal, is removed along
with its dedicated test case; swarm.authelia.url = null is a type
error now, not a value that reaches that assertion.
- docs/swarm/services.md: cut the clause about setting the option to
null and the sentence explaining why the URL is co-location-
independent — both redundant now that the type enforces it.

ce3b3d9467 nix: drop the central-toggle conjunct from four compound gates
`services.hyperhive.enable` is going away (Refs #4500). These four blocks
ANDed it with a second condition that was already the load-bearing one:
the bridge-firewall hole asks whether an operator named any
`network.exposeHostPorts`, and the three swarm-level services ask their
own `deploy.*.enable`, each of which defaults false (swarm-ui derives
from the controller's toggle, a sibling deployment decision) and none of
which is derived from the hive toggle. So dropping the conjunct turns
nothing on by itself — the remaining condition still decides.

The way that claim fails is by something becoming unconditional, so
module-eval gets absence arms for all four, each asserted on a host with
the hive ON and on one with it OFF, plus the two controls that make the
absences mean something.

The swarm-controller arm is probed by the credential oneshot and by the
daemon's `ExecStart` rather than by the unit name: hive-tls defines an
environment key on that name, which leaves an inert fragment behind on
any hive with a CA whether or not the controller runs there.

676c45bc93 swarm: mint, publish and login-verify an agent's store identity at create
`swarm/agents/<agent>/bao-mtls` did not exist, and neither did any
per-agent identity at the secret store: `policy::agent_object_name`,
`render_agent` and `render_agent_with_queue` had been written and never
called outside their own tests. An agent's only "per-agent" secret today
is read under the HIVE's certificate, through a wide grant on
`swarm/agents/*` — so "per-agent" was presentational.

The swarm now mints the certificate, so no hive ever needs the capability
to mint one. `swarm-controller` is the service that does it: it already
logs in to the store, and its existing grant already covers exactly the
three objects written here (`create/update` on
`secret/data/swarm/agents/*`, `sys/policies/acl/hive-*` and
`auth/cert/certs/hive-*`). No new bao grant, and nothing co-located — a
cert-auth role pins its authority by value, per role, so the controller
issues from its own CA on its own host and pins that CA in the role it
writes. No existing role changes.

The mint node does not report success on a write. After publishing it
connects again, with the leaf it just issued and under the role it just
wrote, and reads the path back — so the policy, the role, the common name
and the leaf are exercised in production on every agent creation. A
certificate this code mints that the role this code writes will not accept
turns the job node red at creation time instead of surfacing later as an
agent container that cannot start.

`TriggerDeploy` gains an `after_any` edge on the mint, not `after_ok`: a
hive cannot pass down a certificate the swarm has not published, but a
host with no authority configured must still create agents exactly as it
does today.

The private key is generated in memory and never written to disk on the
controller — `SecretStore::connect_with_identity` takes the PEM the minter
is already holding, so nothing is written out purely to be logged in with.

30fa54cbc6 feat(swarmctl): add agent create, queueing the swarm-controller creation DAG
`swarmctl agent create <name> --hive <hive>` POSTs `/api/agents` to
swarm-controller over the daemon's unix socket and prints the queued
job's node id.

It deliberately does not wait. The endpoint queues a DAG whose last node
*publishes* a deploy message; the hive's `hive-c0re` then converges on
its own clock, out of the controller's sight. So even a fully settled
graph would not mean the agent is up, and there is nothing this CLI
could wait for that would let it claim otherwise. Printing the id is
exactly what the response says and all of what it says.

Transport is a bare hyper HTTP/1.1 client handshaked onto a tokio
`UnixStream` via `hyper_util::rt::TokioIo` — the same crate family
`hivectl/src/watch.rs` and `hive-agent/src/web_ui/proxy.rs` already use,
all of it already workspace-pinned. The request/response shapes are a
local mirror rather than a shared crate: the controller's own types are
private to its binary and this crate does not link it, the same
separation `hivectl` keeps from `hive-c0re`.

Errors are reduced to one actionable line — the controller answers
RFC 9457 problem+json, so an unknown `--hive` reaches the operator as
the roster of hives that would have worked rather than a body dump.
Response `warnings` are printed when non-empty.

The nix module wraps the binary with `SWARM_CONTROLLER_SOCKET`, read
from the same `socketPath` the daemon binds.

7f9e65e923 swarm-controller: hand the daemon the authority hives are issued from
Creating a hive's cert-auth role means writing the authority into the role
by value -- the store matches a presented certificate against the role's own
copy -- and nothing gave this daemon that file.

Named separately from deploy.bao.clientCaFile rather than read off it: that
option is the store's, saying which readers the store trusts on the host
that runs it, while a controller runs anywhere. The glue module supplies it
where the two are co-located, which is the same split baoClientCertFile
already makes against the hive reader's leaf.

Gated on the identity as well as the CA. Without a leaf there is nothing to
write a role with, so the file would reach a daemon that cannot act on it.

The module-eval arm needed a fixture of its own: a deployment that
self-signs both ends points clientCaFile and serverCaFile at one file, so on
the existing fixture the two authorities are the same string and wiring
either into the other's slot passes. controllerTwoCas is where they differ.

0d88ca5e7f swarm-controller: accept an agent's external matrix account and put it in the store
The swarm UI had nowhere to POST an external matrix account to: this daemon
had no matrix-account code at all and no `swarm-secret-client` dependency, so
the last leg of #3726 — a credential reaching an agent — had no entry point.

`PUT /api/hives/{hive}/agents/{agent}/matrix-accounts/{account}` writes the
credential to the store under the agent's own path and publishes a
`CredentialNotice` on that hive's credential subject. All three path names are
load-bearing: agent + account locate the secret, hive routes the notice. The
account is a path segment rather than a body field so that splitting the 1:1
account-to-agent mapping later is a new route, not a changed payload.

Store first, notify second, and the order cannot be swapped: a notice that
overtakes its own write reaches a hive that reads nothing, and the hive
deliberately does not retry. The publish is followed by a flush for the reason
`publish_deploy` flushes — `publish` hands the message to the connection's
write buffer and returns, so the response could otherwise outrun the notice it
reports as sent.

The store client is built per request rather than held in `AppState`, matching
what the hive side does inside `deliver`: a login that expires is not worth
caching for a route this cold.

`swarm_hive` is `declaration_target`'s two name checks, extracted so this
handler makes them identically rather than in a second copy free to drift.
`declaration_target` still tests the writer first, so a deployment with no
queue answers 503 whatever the caller spelled.

## The nix half

#4081 minted the controller's leaf and gave it `baoClientCertFile` /
`baoClientKeyFile`, deliberately stopping there — the leaf is minted whether or
not a controller runs on that host. Nothing consumed those options, so the
identity never reached the process. Measured before writing: `git grep
baoClientCertFile` returned 5 sites and zero consumers, against a control
(`tokenEndpoint`, 4 hits in the same file) proving the search can see
consumption where it exists.

The unit now gets `BAO_ADDR` / `BAO_CLIENT_CERT` / `BAO_CLIENT_KEY` /
`BAO_CACERT` and the matching `LoadCredential` entries, following
`hive-c0re/environment.nix`'s `%d` credential shape.

The gate is `deploy.swarm-controller.baoClientCertFile`, NOT
`deploy.bao.clientCertFile`. The latter is the hive reader's identity and its
policy scopes a hive's own secrets; wiring it here would evaluate, deploy, and
fail only when the daemon tried to write an agent's credential.

Two `module-eval` arms cover exactly that. The presence arm asserts the
`LoadCredential` *source path* (`…:/var/lib/swarm-bao-pki/controller.pem`) and
not just the `%d` name, because a `%d`-only assertion passes while the daemon
holds the wrong policy. The absence arm (`controllerNoStore`) is what makes the
presence arm mean anything.

`RestrictAddressFamilies` already covers the store client; its own comment asks
for the family to be added with the client, and AF_INET/AF_INET6 are present.

a5dc62cecd bao: make the controller's CN an option, and give it cert options of its own
Two halves of one interface that currently exists in one file only.

The CN was a `let` binding in swarm-bao.nix. Whatever mints the
controller's leaf has to spell it identically, and that lives in another
file, so a literal in one place is an interface with no name. It becomes
`deploy.bao.controllerCommonName` -- under bao because it is a property
of the role this module writes, not a credential belonging to the
controller.

The certificate gets `deploy.swarm-controller.baoClientCertFile` /
`baoClientKeyFile` rather than reusing `deploy.bao.clientCertFile`. That
one means "this host as a reader" and carries the hive's name, while the
controller's policy lets it create roles for every hive; one certificate
serving both would hand that power to whatever else reads the store
here.

Both default to null. The glue that mints the leaf sets them with
`mkDefault`, the same way glue-bao-tls.nix already supplies the reader's
paths -- so the controller module names no path of bao's, and deleting
the glue leaves a controller that takes operator-provided ones.

Nothing reads the new options yet; the minting half is the next commit.
`module-eval`'s derivation is unchanged, which is the honest result for
a change that adds options without altering any asserted value -- it
proves the tree still evaluates, not that anything behaves differently.

cc82badd56 swarm: move the controller's two packages to deploy
`package` (the daemon build) and `swarmctlPackage` (the operator CLI
installed beside it) are host decisions, so they join the
`deploy.swarm-controller` block that already holds `enable`, the socket
path and the three local-disk credentials.

⚠️ The target namespace is spelled out in the shim comment because
getting it wrong here does not fail. `deploy.hive-controller` also
exists — it is hive-c0re's, carrying `tls.*` and `statusPublish.*`, and
is referenced from four modules. A rename pointing at it would land on
a live, unrelated option and evaluate cleanly. The module already warned
about this above its own deploy block; the warning now sits next to the
entries it governs too.

`swarm-ui.nix`'s package description cited `swarm.controller.package` as
the precedent for "wired from flake.nix rather than defaulted to pkgs".
That was true when written and stops being true here, so it moves with
it — it lives in a module this slice already finished, which is exactly
where a per-module sweep stops looking.

These were the last two `services.hyperhive.swarm.*` writers in
flake.nix; that file now has none.

Riding along, and not a defect fix: `controllerOldPath` spelled `enable`
the NEW way while every other entry used the old one, so six of the
seven controller shims were exercised and the seventh was not. It is
named for testing old paths, so it now uses the old path throughout.
Unlike the nats fixture there was no comment claiming otherwise — this
is coverage the fixture was already shaped to provide.

889a46729b swarm: move both authelia packages to deploy
`package` (which authelia build runs in the container) and
`bridgePackage` (which `swarm-authelia-bridge` build writes the users
file) are both host decisions, so they join the `deploy.authelia` block
that already holds `enable`, `usersFile` and the two host-side paths.

Six readers, and one of them is why this commit touches a second module:
`swarm-controller.nix` reads `autheliaCfg.package` for
`SWARMCTL_AUTHELIA_BIN`. A per-module sweep never sees that — it is a
cross-reference between two movers, and whichever landed second would
have inherited a dangling alias. The alias itself stays: it still has
three live uses for `url` and `bridgeUrl`.

Two comments needed real edits rather than a rename:

- The `deploy.authelia` header said "all three of these are the same
kind of thing — a filesystem path". It is five options now and two
are packages, so the sentence distinguishes the builds from the
paths, and keeps "a hive that does not run it has nothing at any of
those paths" scoped to the paths it is true of.
- `module-eval.nix` said "Only `usersFile` has a rename entry",
explaining that authelia's other slice-7 movers are `readOnly` and a
rename module cannot contribute a definition to those. That reasoning
is worth keeping, but the claim stopped being true one line above the
  two entries this commit adds.

The fixture gains both old paths; no new case. `autheliaOldPath`'s
existing arms already fail the eval if either shim goes missing.

9c09653603 deploy: move authelia's three host paths out of swarm.authelia
`usersFile`, `hostClientSecretDir` and `hostUsersFile` are filesystem
paths that only exist on the machine running the `swarm-authelia`
container. A hive that does not run it has nothing at any of them, so
they fail the swarm-wide test the namespace's header states.

`usersFile` is a path *inside* the container and still belongs on the
deploy side: a path's scope is the scope of the filesystem it names, and
that filesystem is this host's container root.

The two `host*` options are `readOnly` and derived, so nothing can set
them through the rename shims — those serve readers. The shims are still
required: `mkRenamedOptionModule` is what keeps an out-of-tree module
reading the old path resolving at all.

Seven reads went through an alias rather than a full path
(`autheliaCfg.hostClientSecretDir` in five modules, `.hostUsersFile` in a
sixth, `swarmCfg.authelia.hostClientSecretDir` in a seventh). Every one
of those files already binds `deployCfg`, so the repoint needed no new
alias. Four more sites were prose, including one in `docs/`, which no
grep restricted to `nix/` would have found.

b7c5067f79 deploy: move the controller's socket and credentials out of swarm.controller
`swarm.*` is what a hive needs to be a *client* of the swarm. For the
controller that is the quick-links it publishes, the client id it is
registered under, how stale a snapshot may read, and its packages. Where
its socket lives and where the three credentials it reads sit are
decisions of the machine running it, so socketPath, forgeTokenFile,
authBridgeUrl and queue.clientSecretFile move to
`deploy.swarm-controller.*`.

⚠️ `deploy.swarm-controller`, not `deploy.hive-controller`. Both exist on
main — the latter is hive-c0re's namespace, where `tls.*` lives — and a
definition on the wrong one lands on a live unrelated option instead of
failing. The shim table is anchored on both sides for that reason.

`queue.clientSecretFile` is a nested field, not a top-level option: it
moves out of `queue` and leaves natsUrl and tokenEndpoint behind, so the
far side needs `deploy.swarm-controller.queue.clientSecretFile`. That is
the `forge.sso` split shape, applied again rather than reinvented — the
endpoints a client dials are swarm-wide, the secret beside them is a path
on one host.

local-defaults.nix set that secret from INSIDE
`config.services.hyperhive.swarm = { ... }`, where a bare `controller.`
prefix means `swarm.controller`. Left there it would still resolve —
through the rename — and warn on every evaluation of a single-host swarm,
which is the same defect an earlier slice fixed for the matrix module. It
moves out into its own `deploy` statement beside the controller's
`enable`. `queue.natsUrl` stays bare: it is a stayer.

swarm-ui.nix read `socketPath` through its own `controllerCfg` alias.
With that repointed the binding had no reader left, so it goes. Unlike
the dead `natsCfg` an earlier slice removed, this one was live until this
commit — the move orphaned it. `deployCfg` was already bound there.

Prose that named a moved option by its full path is requalified: the
assertion message for the queue secret (operator-facing, and inside
`config` where an options-block sweep would miss it) and
`swarm-controller/README.md`'s socket-path line. Left bare on purpose:
`docs/swarm/README.md` and the README's own "never point `socketPath` at
a directory that carries anything else" both name the FEATURE, not a
path.

module-eval configures a hive through all four OLD paths and asserts a
rendered effect for EACH of them — the unit's socket env, its auth-bridge
env, and both credential paths in `LoadCredential`. Asserting all four
rather than one means a rename that resolves but stops reaching the
module is caught per-option, not only where a single assertion happens to
look.
