Comments, docs and the hive-c0re README no longer say the hive renders, locks or pushes a meta flake. core/meta is the legacy permission-seed repo that meta::remove_permission_files still commits to; builds come from internal/meta (meta_rev.rs). Docs note that a start of a stale stopped agent can fail until the swarm's update pins the config.
A hive builds only from internal/meta, so a TriggerDeploy after a failed UpdateMeta could only fail its build. Both DAGs that queue an update (merged config PR, agent create) now gate the deploy with after_ok: the update shows Failed and the deploy Skipped.
The hive no longer renders, locks or commits a meta flake. A rebuild's
MetaSync node picks the internal/meta commit and records it with the
hyperhive and config pins it holds; Prebuild, Swap and Create build from it,
and a head that does not pin the agent's current config fails the build
naming the agent. hive-priv's meta_rev is required.
Removed: meta.rs sync/lock/render, the manual-rebuild relock, the boot
sweep's hyperhive bump (MetaLock), the update-meta-inputs form and its
panel, MetaWindow, the hive's hyperhive_rev setting.
Kept: agent_set::refresh holds what sync_agents also did (topology.json, the
gateway's agent-socket map and nginx include), called from spawn, destroy,
rebuild and the migration.
The boot reconcile and the stale-start upgrade compare the agent's marker
with the hyperhive pin of internal/meta; the dashboard's deployed chip reads
the config marker a successful build writes.
Removes the HiveCopy hand-off: hive-c0re no longer writes each agent's
entry from swarm-agent-permissions.json into its runtime dir as
swarm-permissions.json, and the harness and subagent daemon no longer
read it. hive-c0re keeps the file as its own last read of the swarm for
the manage_root_agent mounts. Also removes permissions_import::pending(),
its only caller being the hand-off. No nix provisioned the copy, so no
nix option is removed and no tombstone is needed.
Rule after this change: until an agent's first successful read of its
key it holds no permissions (no execution, so no bash), and a subagent it
starts holds the same. After a read a set key wins, [] holds none and an
unset key is the default. A failed read keeps the last value, so an
unreachable queue at start keeps the agent closed until a read succeeds.
The harness logs once at warn that it starts closed.
Fixes#5315
on deploy, hive-c0re takes the internal/meta head for an archetype agent only
when the head lists that same archetype, and for a custom agent only when the
head lists it as custom, so a switch between the two, or to another archetype,
builds from the hive's own flake until the swarm commits the new flake.
the record location is described in the same docs paragraph.
A rebuild's MetaSync resolves the head of the swarm's internal/meta once and
records it; the prebuild and the swap build that flake instead of the hive's
own, and a first deploy does the same in Create. hive-priv takes the commit as
a validated meta_rev on UpdateContainer and CreateContainer and builds from its
own forge URL (HIVE_PRIV_FORGE_URL).
The head is used only when its flake lists the agent at the config commit the
forge's main is at; otherwise, and when the repo has no commit or this hive has
no core token file for nix's git, the hive renders locally as before.
hive-c0re's and hive-priv's gitconfig now share the forge credential helper and
rewrite the forge's https URLs to http, which hive-priv lacked.
HIVE_AGENT_NATS_URL now reaches each container in its hive facts, from
the host's deploy.hive-controller.queue.agentNatsUrl, instead of being
rendered into the meta flake. The agent option
services.hyperhive.agent.queue.natsUrl is removed; the harness unit
imports the queue credential whenever the token endpoint is set.
On deploy every agent rebuilds once (the rendered flake loses the
address), and the harness reads the address from the facts file
hive-priv writes before each start.
Refs #4857
The three values that differ per host (deploy.hive-controller.dashboardPort,
claudeCodePackage and otel.extraResourceAttributes) no longer go into the
meta flake. hive-priv writes them into the container's
/etc/hyperhive-hive-facts with the hive name and domain, and the agent
reads them at boot:
- HIVE_DASHBOARD_PORT reaches every unit through the hive-facts generator;
the web UI still defaults to 7000 without it.
- `claude` on PATH is a wrapper that runs HYPERHIVE_CLAUDE_CODE_PATH's
claude when it is there, and the container's own claude-code otherwise.
The host's serve.json keeps gc-rooting the pinned build.
- OTEL_RESOURCE_ATTRIBUTES moves out of the units' Environment= into a
boot-time generator, which appends HYPERHIVE_OTEL_EXTRA_RESOURCE_ATTRIBUTES.
The agent options services.hyperhive.agent.claudeCodePath (now a removed
option) and otel.extraResourceAttributes go; only the meta render set them.
render_flake takes no HiveEnv any more, so the memory-cap render test and
render_hive_flake_at, which only existed to vary HiveEnv into the render,
go with it.
Refs #4857
sync_agents returned early whenever the rendered flake.nix matched disk.
A sync stopped after writing flake.nix but before its commit therefore
never re-locked or committed. The early return now also requires that
flake.nix and flake.lock have nothing uncommitted; otherwise the normal
lock+commit path runs and logs that it is resuming.
no behaviour change: a pure move of items and tests into new modules, plus
visibility edits (pub(crate)) and path updates in sibling modules that named
crate-root items. same routes, same OpenAPI, 561 tests before and after.
why: #5470, new features stop landing in one 6.4k-line file by default.
files outside swarm-controller/src: docs/agent-lifecycle/agent-roster.md,
swarm-ui JobsPage.tsx and AgentsPage.tsx, nix/host-modules/swarm-controller.nix
and swarm-grafana.nix hold comments that named main.rs for items that moved.
docs/swarm/README.md gets the routes, the revision, the apply semantics
and the stopped-agent behaviour; the persistence doc points there from
the AGENTS.md entry. The swarm-controller, swarm-controller-api and
swarmctl READMEs and the repo map in AGENTS.md list the new bodies and
routes. docs/tools/swarmctl-cli.md is regenerated for
`swarmctl agent agents-md`, whose help text loses two passive phrasings
vale flags.
Claude Code (>= 2.1.277) and opencode both read AGENTS.md, but Claude
Code reads it only when no CLAUDE.md exists in its cwd or above. So
this is a plain rename with no CLAUDE.md stub left behind.
- hive-agent/src/agents_md_migrate.rs: new. At harness start, before
the first turn, renames state/CLAUDE.md to state/AGENTS.md when only
the former exists; logs an error naming both paths when both exist
and touches neither; does nothing otherwise. Idempotent.
- hive-agent/src/main.rs: calls it in serve_main; checkpoint prompt
and a comment name AGENTS.md.
- hive-agent/src/claude_md_watch.rs: the size watch reads AGENTS.md;
todo text, doc comments and tests follow. Module name, todo
subsystem key ("claude_md") and metric name
(hyperhive.agent.claude_md.lines) are unchanged so existing todo
rows and dashboard history carry over.
- hive-agent/src/turn.rs, hive-agent/prompts/system.md: prompts tell
the agent its file is AGENTS.md.
- hive-agent/src/{otel_turn_metrics,stats}.rs,
frontend/packages/agent/src/stats.js, hive-subagent-mcp/src/*.rs:
comments and a tool parameter description naming the agent's file.
- nix/host-modules/swarm-grafana/dashboards/agents.json: panel title
and description.
- claude-plugins skills claude-subagents, state-hygiene: they mean the
agent's own state file.
- CLAUDE.md -> AGENTS.md at the repo root; docs/crates/README.md link
(checked by check-doc-refs.sh), hive-c0re/README.md,
.prettierignore and the nix/sources.nix comment follow.
- docs/: every prose mention of the agent's file; persistence.md
documents the boot-time rename, claude-invocation.md the shadowing.
Fixes#5509
The hive reads the agent-archetype key when it provisions and rebuilds an
agent and keeps it in swarm-agent-archetypes.json. For an archetype agent
the meta flake has no agent-<name> input and mkAgent imports
hyperhive.hyperhiveArchetypes.<name>.module; provisioning, rebuilds, the
meta-input cascade, a deploy's rev and the startup migration skip the
config repos. The harness gets HIVE_ARCHETYPE and the system prompt says
the agent has no config repo. The create form sends the picked archetype.
Adds the android-dev built-in.
Refs #5386
Delete nix/templates/ruth.nix, the ruth nixosConfiguration, module and
toplevel, the hive-c0re managerToplevel option, and the meta flake's
isManager switch with lifecycle::MANAGER_NAME. Every agent, ruth
included, now builds from nix/templates/agent.nix. The template's only
content beyond agent.nix was docs.enable = mkDefault true; docs.enable
is off by default for every agent and ruth's own agent.nix turns it on.
Refs #5377
Permission::default_for and hive-sh4re's MANAGER_AGENT are gone: every
agent with no permissions key holds Permission::DEFAULT, ruth included.
The agent-name parameters that only fed default_for go with it
(permissions::effective, HiveCopy::before_read/after_read and their
callers).
swarm-controller seeds the grant ruth held by name: at start, a declared
ruth whose permissions are unset gets DEFAULT plus manage_root_agent
written into her key, once, logged. A set key is never touched. It is a
one-shot to delete once every swarm has passed it.
The swarm UI setup assistant opens the create form with
manage_root_agent checked, so a new ruth is created with the grant.
permissions_import no longer adds ruth to the import or splits her
default. Docs and help text no longer say ruth holds the grant by
default; swarmctl-cli.md regenerated.
start_manager bound the same path register_agent binds. The migrate branch, hive-priv-sock::MANAGER_NAME and MANAGER_CONTAINER were no-ops or dead. The send allow-list docs promised a manager exemption the code never had. Tests that used ruth as the manager fixture use plain names.
ruth is created from the swarm dashboard like any agent. An existing ruth container starts at boot through the boot reconcile, like every other agent. A definition of services.hyperhive.ruthless now fails evaluation with a removal message.
Until its first successful read of its key, the harness read its
permissions as the default set, `execution` included. So did the
subagent daemon. An agent the operator had narrowed ran wider than
granted after every restart while the queue was unreachable, and in the
gap before the first 10 s poll. During the meta-repo import, every
non-ruth key is still unset, and the agent read that as the default too,
for as long as the import stayed pending.
mara picked option (a) on #5293: "a, removal of the old path as a follow
up in 1w".
hive-c0re now writes each agent's entry from
swarm-agent-permissions.json into the agent's runtime dir as
swarm-permissions.json (/run/hive in the container), together with
whether the import is still pending. It writes the file at every start
(write_dropins) and after every 30 s pass of the permissions worker. The
harness and the subagent daemon hold that stored list until their own
first read succeeds. While the import is pending, an unset key keeps
the stored list rather than reverting it to the default. A queue that
is down never blocks a start: the agent runs on the stored grant.
The decision lives in swarm_queue_client::agent_permissions::HiveCopy,
shared by both readers.
Part of #5170.
mara on #5170: "dont split caps and perms. its all perms. / dont include
the now empty tool groups / nothing set -> default / also add perms to
agent creation screen".
- hive-sh4re: one `Permission` enum (messaging, meta, inbox, execution,
web_tools, manage_root_agent) replaces `ToolGroup` and `Capability`;
`lifecycle`/`forge` are gone. `Permission::default_for` is the default
for an agent the swarm sets nothing for.
- The record is `{ "permissions": [...] }`. Missing key, unset field or
no successful read yet = default; `[]` = none; a failed read after a
good one keeps the last value.
- hive-agent reads its own key every 10s and builds each turn's --tools,
--allowedTools and MCP config (rewritten before every turn) from it;
the subagent daemon reads it on each start/continue. Agents get a
read-only grant on their own key.
- hive-c0re restarts an agent only when its manage_root_agent changes.
The import now merges meta/capabilities.json and meta/tool-groups.json
into one list per agent and deletes both; the "import pending, don't
read" decision is `ImportOutcome::read_allowed`, table-tested.
- swarm-controller: `GET /api/permissions` (names + default) and an
optional `permissions` on `POST /api/agents`, stored before the job is
queued. swarm-ui's create-agent form gets a permissions field.
- Deleted: HIVE_TOOL_GROUPS and its forward to the subagent daemon,
tool_groups.rs, ruth's tool-group seed, the permissions rebuild job
(PermPayload/WritePermFile/perm_change), the dashboard permissions tab
and its stale-entries panel.
Part of #5170.
An agent's capabilities move from the hive's meta repo
(`meta/capabilities.json`, injected as `HIVE_CAPABILITIES`) into the
`capabilities` field of its key in a new `agent-permissions` KV bucket,
which swarm-controller alone writes.
- swarm-queue-client: `agent_permissions` (bucket, key, `AgentPermissions`,
direct-get read, the import subject and its wire types).
- swarm-controller: creates the bucket at start; `GET|PUT|DELETE
/api/agents/{name}/permissions` (deny_unknown_fields and unknown
capability ⇒ 422, duplicate ⇒ 400, agent must be declared by a hive);
answers each hive's one-shot import, writing a key only where there is
none and only for agents that hive's wanted state declares.
- swarmctl: `agent permissions get|set|clear`.
- swarm-nats-auth: a hive reads every key of the bucket and sends its
import on its own subject; the controller subscribes to the imports and
may answer them (`responses`).
- hive-c0re: reads each of its agents' keys every 30s into
/var/lib/hyperhive/swarm-agent-permissions.json and restarts an agent,
gracefully, when its capabilities change. Unset is the compiled-in
default (ruth: manage_root_agent; everyone else: none). A failed read
keeps the stored value. On first boot it seeds that file from
meta/capabilities.json, sends the grants to the controller, and deletes
the file once the controller answers.
Deleted: the capabilities.json reader/writer, `HIVE_CAPABILITIES` in the
rendered meta flake, ruth's capability seed, the capabilities half of the
permissions rebuild job (`PermPayload::Capabilities`/`Combined`), the
dashboard's capabilities table and `capabilities_changed` event, and the
now-unused `Capability::description`.
Part of #5170.
The hive no longer sets an agent's CPU or memory cap: caps come from the swarm, else the hive-wide defaults. The container load tab was the only hive UI that set them, and its figures are already exported as OTEL metrics, so with the tab gone nothing wrote meta/resource-limits.json.
Removed: the file's reader and writer, the `hivectl agent set-limits` verb with its host-socket request, the `GET /api/container-resources` and `POST /api/resource-limits/{name}` dashboard endpoints, and the `cpu_quota`/`memory_max` fields of the container view that only the tab read. A leftover resource-limits.json is ignored.
Three follow-ups to argus's review of #5237:
- A down secondary's retry runs `restore` under RESTORE_TIMEOUT (2 min).
Tries run one per tick on one future, so a restore that never resolved
held back every other down account's retries for good; a try that
outlasts the timeout now counts as a failure like any other.
- `client::build_and_restore` warns about a rejected token only for the
primary, which exits right after. For a secondary it logs at debug: the
retry loop already warns once per outage (`DownAccounts::failed` is news
on the first failure and on a changed reason, and an account that came
up starts afresh), so the extra warn repeated on every try.
- `a_secondary_that_comes_up_late_does_not_wipe_the_todos` runs the late
bring-up in a child process of the test binary with HIVE_AGENT_SOCKET
pointed at the test's listener. In-process the variable was unset, so a
wipe placed back in the bring-up path was a no-op and the test passed.
New tests: a_second_rejection_in_a_row_does_not_warn_again (captured logs, alone
in a child process since tracing caches callsite interest process-wide;
a stub whoami answering M_UNKNOWN_TOKEN, the real build_and_restore),
a_failure_after_the_account_came_up_is_news_again, and
an_account_whose_restore_hangs_does_not_hold_back_the_others (paused time).
Audit follow-ups on the secondary-account retry.
The accounts snapshot is written by the heartbeat task and, now, by the
retry loop. Both used one fixed tmp path, so concurrent writers could
clobber it or fail the rename. Each write now names its own tmp file
(pid + counter); a test hammers it from four threads.
A permanently bad secondary logged three warnings per attempt, every 16
minutes, for as long as the daemon ran. DownAccounts::failed now reports
whether a failure is news (first, or a different reason from the last);
only that is a warning, repeats are debug. The two per-attempt warnings
in client.rs and credential.rs are covered by that line, which names the
reason, so the store-token one drops to debug.
The comments in client.rs and a credential.rs test, and persistence.md,
still described the old skip-until-restart behaviour or implied that a
store-listed account without a credential is retried here; that case is
handled by the linked-name set changing, not by this loop.
The daemon's two-minute refresh compared the store's linked account
names with the names it booted with. A secondary that was named but did
not come up - no token at bring-up, a token the homeserver rejected
(M_UNKNOWN_TOKEN), or a homeserver still down after the ~52 s boot
retries - kept its name in the set, so nothing ever noticed it again:
it stayed down until the daemon restarted for some other reason, and
an operator re-linking a rejected account changed no name.
Each such secondary is now tried again on the same two-minute period,
one per tick, after one refresh and then doubling waits capped at
sixteen minutes. One that comes up joins the registry (now behind a
lock) and its sync loop joins the running set; the primary and the
other accounts are not restarted. The store is still only read.
The startup todo wipe moves out of bring_up_account to run once before
any sync loop: run per account, a late secondary would have cleared the
todos the running accounts' sweeps had already deduped.
Part of #5017 (slice M).
An agent's matrix encryption keys lived only in its local crypto store, so
`destroy --purge` or a primary-account token reset lost every encrypted
room's history with no way back (#5022).
swarm-controller now mints a random passphrase (32 bytes from the kernel's
CSPRNG, base64url) for every account listed under each agent's `matrix/`
directory, at `swarm/agents/<agent>/matrix-recovery/<account>`, in a
five-minute pass. The write is a cas=0 create after a read; a path that
holds anything is never replaced, and a create that loses a race counts as
done. The controller's existing `data/swarm/agents/*` grant covers the
write and the agent's own `agents/<agent>/*` read grant covers the read, so
no policy changes.
hive-matrix-daemon reads the passphrase when it brings an account up, after
cross-signing: with no backup on the homeserver it enables recovery with it
(backup + secret storage); with one there it recovers, which imports the
backup key and the self-signing key, and room keys then download through
`BackupDownloadStrategy::OneShot`. No passphrase yet logs at INFO and the
account comes up without backup; any failure logs WARN and never stops the
daemon.
Recovery runs after `ensure_cross_signing`, not before: on a new account
cross-signing must exist locally for `enable` to export it into secret
storage, and on an existing identity `bootstrap_cross_signing_if_needed` is
a no-op, leaving `recover` to import and sign.
Part of #5022 (S1+S2, with the S4 docs).
Scheduled prompts live at swarm level (swarm-controller's
/api/schedules, `swarmctl schedule`, the swarm UI's /schedules page).
The hive dashboard's SCH3DUL3S tab only listed the rows left in
hive-c0re's `scheduled_prompts` table so operators could copy them
over; the operator confirmed everything is migrated.
Removed:
- the SCH3DUL3S tab, its pane, schedules.js, its CSS (including the
`.rqe-source*` rules, whose only emitter was schedules.js) and the
hub tile's "schedules" entry
- hive-c0re's GET /api/schedules and the `scheduled_prompts` store
(with its v1 column migration and test)
- hive-sh4re's `schedule` wire types, which only that route used
- docs describing the tab, the route and the two tables
The rebuild-queue cancel route that shared the module moves to
dashboard/rebuild_queue.rs under an OpenAPI tag of its own.
The two sqlite tables are not dropped: nothing opens them any more,
and persistence.md says they can be dropped by hand.
Closes#4916
Every 30 seconds `workers::swarm_limits` reads the `agent-limits` key of
each agent this hive has and stores the result in
swarm-resource-limits.json, where the drop-in, the heap ceiling and the
dashboard read it. A cap therefore follows its agent to whichever hive
runs it.
Each value goes through the hive's own validate_cpu_quota /
validate_memory_max before it is stored, since hive-priv renders it
verbatim into the container's drop-in, and one bad value refuses the whole
set (argus on #4268, carried over from the wanted-state consumer this
replaces). A failed read, or a bucket that does not answer, leaves the
stored caps as they are; three failures in a row raise a banner.
swarm-nats-auth grants every hive `$JS.API.DIRECT.GET.KV_agent-limits.>`:
read-only, and every agent's key, not just the hive's own. Scoping it to
the hive's agents would need a roster in the auth responder, which
policy.rs argues against. mara chose this on #4268 (c95293); narrowing it
is a possible low-priority follow-up, not planned. A test pins that the
grant reads every key, writes none, and reaches no other bucket.
Contributes to #3865.
The cap file was removed for a cap of `infinity` or a RAM percentage,
so the boot check warned on every start of such an agent, for a
legitimate config. The file is now written on every start:
- a size: its byte count, as before;
- `infinity`: the literal `infinity`. The generators set no JSC heap
ceiling and no subagent MemoryHigh=, and the boot check is quiet;
- a percentage: resolved on the host the way systemd resolves
MemoryMax=N% for the container@ unit. That is permyriad (at most two
decimals, at most 100%) of sysconf(_SC_PHYS_PAGES) *
sysconf(_SC_PAGESIZE), rounded down to a page;
- a value systemd ignores (zero, over 100%, more than two decimals,
unparseable) leaves the unit uncapped, so it is `infinity`.
The file is missing only when hive-c0re can't tell the cap: the
limits file and the kept drop-in are both unreadable, or a percentage
meets an unknown host memory size. The boot check now warns only for
a missing file or a first line that is neither a byte count nor
`infinity`.
Part of #5081 (slice S0-2).
An agent's memory cap was rendered into its flake (`memoryMaxBytes` →
`services.hyperhive.agent.claudeMemoryMaxBytes`), so the closure depended
on it and a changed cap reached the JSC heap ceiling and the subagent
`MemoryHigh=` only after a rebuild.
hive-c0re now writes the effective `MemoryMax=` in bytes to the agent's
runtime dir (`/run/hive/memory-max-bytes` inside) in `write_dropins`,
from the same value the drop-in gets. The file is removed for
`infinity` or a RAM percentage, and left alone when the drop-in is kept.
Inside the container, `nix/agent-modules/memory-cap.nix` reads it at
boot: an environment generator sets `BUN_JSC_forceRAMSize` (75%) for
every unit and `machinectl shell`, `/etc/set-environment` exports it in
login shells, and a unit generator writes `MemoryHigh=` (2/3) as a
drop-in for `hive-subagent-daemon`.
The render drops `memoryMaxBytes`, the agent option is removed (both
spellings fail eval with a removal message), and
`effective_memory_bytes_from` goes with its only caller.
Part of #5081 (slice S0-2).
Agents reach the operator over matrix now (#5115). A `send` to
`operator` is refused, by the broker and by the MCP allow-list check,
with an error that names the matrix MCP tools. The dashboard's Y3R C4LL
tab goes with it: the operator inbox, `GET /api/operator-inbox`,
`Broker::unread_for_recipient`, and the browser notifications that only
ever fired on operator-bound messages.
The harness no longer posts turn failures and plugin-install failures
to the operator inbox. Both are already logged at warn; a new Grafana
rule, `hh-agent-turn-failed`, fires per agent on the harness's
`turn failed` line.
Dashboard-to-agent messaging (op-send, the agent web UI's message box,
mark-all-read for agent inboxes) is unchanged.
Decisions per mara on #5115: q1 a, q2 a plus a grafana alert, q3 keep
dashboard-to-agent messaging and leave swarm-level code alone.
A build_logs row is opened with finished_at NULL and closed only by the
process that runs the build. If hive-c0re stopped in between, the row stayed
open for good: the dashboard listed it with no status, its log stream never
sent `done`, and the retention sweep, which skips open rows, never deleted it.
Coordinator::open now closes every open row as `fail` and appends a line
saying hive-c0re stopped. It runs before this process starts any build, and
only there: BuildLogs::open itself leaves rows alone so a second opener can't
close another process's live rows.
mara on #5034: "effort shares /models fate". The per-agent web UI no
longer sets effort: the `/effort` slash command, the effort picker,
`POST /api/effort`, `Bus::set_effort`, the `hyperhive-effort` writer,
`EFFORT_LEVELS`/`is_valid_effort` and the ACP effort-list payload are
gone, and `lib/modelEffort.ts` with them. The effort chip is
display-only and shows its source (`effort_source` in `/api/state`);
on ACP it stays hidden while the session offers no effort level.
The read side is unchanged: with no swarm value an agent runs an
existing `hyperhive-effort` file, else its agent.nix effort, else
medium. Existing files are not touched.
Refs #5034
The per-agent web UI no longer sets the model: the `/model` slash
command, the model picker, `POST /api/model`, `Bus::set_model` and the
`hyperhive-model` writer are gone. The model chip is display-only and
shows where the model comes from (`model_source` in `/api/state`). The
model is set on the swarm (swarm UI agents page, `swarmctl agent
inference set`).
The read side is unchanged: with no swarm value an agent runs its
agent.nix model, else an existing `hyperhive-model` file, else haiku.
Existing files are not touched.
With the picker gone, its model list goes too: `available_models` in
`/api/state`, the ACP model-list filter, and the harness's global
`HIVE_AVAILABLE_MODELS`. The subagent daemon keeps its own
`HIVE_AVAILABLE_MODELS` from mcp.nix, and the `availableModels`
assertion stays.
`/effort` (command, picker, route, file) is unchanged.

config-changes.md § Meta flake, hive-c0re nix comments and the meta.rs/exec.rs
doc comments still described the declared agent-<n> input as a forge-hosted
git+http repo; meta.rs renders git+file://<applied>.
advance_applied_main refused every rev that does not descend from
applied/main, including an ancestor of it. Ancestors arrive in normal
operation: swarm-controller queues each merge's TriggerDeploy as an
independent node with no resource or edge between them and spawns each
runnable node on its own task, so two merges of one agent can publish in
either order; the meta-update cascade fast-forwards applied/main to the
forge's main on its own; and the webhook handler does not dedup a
redelivered merge event. Since a refusal now logs at ERROR and fires the
`hh-config-rev-refused` alert, each of those would page as a refusal.
An ancestor is now RevAdvance::Superseded, logged at info, nothing queued.
Only a rev that has diverged (neither descendant nor ancestor) is refused.
Refs #4851
A deploy request whose rev hive-c0re refuses (fetch failed, or the rev
does not descend from applied/main) no longer tries to comment on the PR
that merged it. Off the forge host that attempt always failed with "forge
core token absent". The refusal now logs at ERROR, message unchanged, and
the new `hh-config-rev-refused` Grafana rule fires on it.
Deleted with the posting: actions::post_rev_deploy_failure_to_pr, the
whole forge/pr_comment.rs (config_repo, merged_pr_for_commit,
post_pr_comment), and ReaderToken::value, whose only caller was
merged_pr_for_commit.

priv_client::list_containers now waits at most 30s (LIST_WAIT) for
hive-priv's `nixos-container list`, via the existing `within` helper. Its
periodic callers (crash_watch, agent_sockets, swarm_agent_status, wanted,
mcp_sockets, swarm_status via container_view) already treat an Err as a
skipped cycle, so a hung listing no longer stops their loops for good.
lifecycle::is_running / unit_state run `systemctl is-active` with
kill_on_drop and a 10s timeout (IS_ACTIVE_TIMEOUT); a timeout warns and
reads as not-running / UnitState::Other, the same as a systemctl that
could not be spawned. The new lifecycle::running_state returns None for
that case, and crash_watch keeps the agent's previous observation on None
so a hung systemctl is neither reported as a crash nor as a recovery.
`call` itself and every mutating op (start/stop/destroy/send-snapshot/
daemon-reload) stay unbounded.
Closes#5061
The reseed bail text, the `ensure_all` doc, the forge module doc and a
rebuild comment still described hive-c0re mirroring the applied config to
`agent-configs/<name>`. State what the code does now; scope the
config-changes doc to swarm-created agents and say what a legacy agent
whose repo has no `main` gets.
Refs #4851
Per the operator's ruling on #4851 (option (a)): the hive holds no
write identity on the forge, so the `push_config` mirror of an applied
repo's tags and `main` to `agent-configs/<name>` is removed, along with
its `run_config_push` helper and its call in `sync_agent`.
Docs and comments that described the mirror now say that forge `main`
advances only by an operator's merge.
Refs #4851
Agents keep git worktrees and cargo target dirs under /home/<agent>,
which lives in the container rootfs and is deleted on destroy. They
can't move them under state/, because a claude started there walks up
into state/CLAUDE.md and takes on the agent's identity.
Add a per-agent work/ dir next to state/ on the host
(/var/lib/hyperhive/agents/<n>/work), bind-mounted RW at
/agents/<n>/work. hive-c0re creates it in ensure_state_dir and in
set_nspawn_flags (the rebuild path reaches only the latter), the
agent's activation chowns it to the agent user like state/ and
harness/, and measure_agent_disk counts it. destroy never touches the
agent root, so work/ survives it; purge removes the whole root, so
work/ goes with it.
