d2a550e685 feat(#3255): hives stop owning the knowledge webhook, and clean up their own
A webhook has exactly one target URL, so every hive registering one
against the shared internal/knowledge repository was last-writer-wins
rather than idempotent: all but the most recent silently stopped
receiving deliveries. The swarm controller holds the single registration
and now addresses an event to each hive over the queue instead.

This is a migration, not a deletion. Not registering any more fixes
nothing on a hive that has already run — the hook it created persists on
the forge, so the contention would survive on exactly the deployments
that have it while fresh installs looked fixed. The hive that created a
hook removes it.

It removes only its OWN, matched on the full URL rather than the
/webhook/knowledge suffix. A hook with that suffix and a different base
belongs to another hive, possibly one not yet upgraded, and deleting it
would break that hive's knowledge sync until it caught up. Reaping a
neighbour's registration is the behaviour being removed here; doing it
while fixing it would only invert the direction.

The predecessor did reap by suffix, to clear loopback hooks left by an
older single-hive layout. That was safe when a hive was alone on its
forge and is not safe now. The hive-side registrars also acted as reapers
of hooks under their own path, which is why the swarm hook lives under
/webhook/forge/; removing this registrar removes that reaper too.
Intended, and stated because no reviewer would infer it from the diff.

The receive endpoint goes with it. A live HMAC-verified
/webhook/knowledge that nothing can legitimately reach would tell the
next reader that this is how a hive learns about knowledge changes.

Docs move in the same commit: docs/swarm/README.md said two hooks exist
per swarm-wide repo and neither should be deleted, which is now true for
agent-configs and wrong for internal/knowledge — a half-correct
description being worse than an uncorrected one.

3b9c004a0c fix(c0re): name the remote and branch on the knowledge pull
A bare `git pull --ff-only` merges whatever `branch.<current>.merge`
lists. A clone carrying more than one such entry aborts with "Cannot
fast-forward to multiple branches", which takes /knowledge out for every
agent on the hive - and the daemon neither writes that config nor can
see it, so the call worked only for as long as it happened to stay
clean.

Reproduced against two throwaway bare repos: duplicate merge entries
give that exact fatal, exit 128. A detached HEAD gives a different
error, and a missing tracking config does not reproduce at all - the
clone of an empty repo does write the tracking entry, so my first
explanation was wrong.

Naming origin and main makes the pull independent of local branch
config: a stray entry degrades to "the pull did not pick it up" instead
of breaking the shared mount. Does not explain how a second entry
appeared; nothing in this tree writes branch config.

e15c499a31 fix(#3245): resolve the remaining intra-doc links in hive-c0re
Takes the crate from 26 rustdoc warnings to 1, on top of the ten in the
previous commit.

argus's review findings:
- agent_sockets.rs: [`write`] was still ambiguous (function vs macro).
  The previous change narrowed the qualifier and left the ambiguity;
  [`write()`] is what resolves it.
- forge/users.rs <hex> and stats/container_stats.rs <name>: unclosed
  HTML tags in prose, now backticked.

The rest of the crate, so the count actually reaches zero:
- job_queue/mod.rs: Queue::graph_snapshot -> JobQueue::graph_snapshot
  (there is no Queue type), and super::scheduler -> scheduler (mod.rs
  *is* job_queue, so super:: pointed outside it)
- job_queue/resource.rs: NodeKind -> super::model::NodeKind
- matrix.rs: password_path(name) -> password_path; and
  forge::provision_user_token -> crate::forge::provision_user_token.
  Note the path has no `users` segment: forge/mod.rs declares `mod
  users` private and re-exports it, so the canonical path comes from the
  re-export rather than the directory tree.
- socket_server/lifecycle_handlers.rs: InfraContainer ->
  hive_priv_sock::InfraContainer
- stats/otel_metrics.rs: crate::meta::otel_config is a private fn no
  path can name from another module, so it becomes prose
- main.rs: redundant explicit link target dropped

coordinator.rs:405 (CrashWatchGuard) is deliberately untouched: #3244
deletes that doc block, so fixing it here would conflict with an open PR
and repair a symbol that is about to stop existing.

6338939657 refactor(#2916): destroy submits a DAG instead of an imperative teardown
Destroy was a straight-line async fn with no queue node behind it, so
nothing in the graph could answer "is this container going down on
purpose?". That gap is why an imperative crash-watch suppression guard
existed: an RAII handle held for the operation's duration, a second way
to say what every other lifecycle op already says through its node.

Reuse the existing Stop node rather than teaching a new node to stop
things:

    Stop -> DestroyContainer -> (PurgeState) -> DestroyBookkeeping

Stop already declares takes_container_down honestly, so the suppression
is now derived from the graph like every other op's. It also turns the
precondition into an edge: DestroyContainer runs only under a completed
Stop, so it operates on an already-stopped container and carries
takes_container_down = false permanently. A container still alive at
that point is a real bug and stays loud instead of being absorbed by a
flag -- which matters because a wrong true silently swallows a crash
while a wrong false only costs a spurious event.

Removes suppress_crash_watch, CrashWatchSuppression, crash_suppressed,
crash_watch_suppressed and NO_NODE_LABEL. The migration call sites went
with the obsolete startup migrations, so destroy was the last caller and
intent now has exactly one home.

destroy() becomes a submit-and-return, matching every sibling endpoint
(rebuild, kill, restart, start, pause, resume) -- it was the only
lifecycle op that awaited its work. The container rescan moves into the
bookkeeping tail, so ContainerRemoved now arrives after the 200 rather
than before it.

Also drops an orphaned doc-comment in coordinator.rs: two stacked blocks
where only the second described crash_suppressed, the first documenting
a field that no longer exists. Removing the field would have re-pointed
it at recent_transient.

98d895cf9e docs(gateway): describe what is, not what changed
Per review: docs represent current state. Every "used to" / "no longer"
clause this branch introduced is gone — including the History section in
network.md, which was a whole subsection about a sync mechanism that
doesn't exist.

Where the removed clause was carrying a real constraint, the constraint
stays and is stated in the present tense instead of as a delta: nothing
narrows what the gateway's nginx can reach except the directory
permissions in front of a socket, and nothing bounds `ReloadGatewayNginx`
except the hard-coded unit name. Those read as rules now rather than as
the story of how they came to be rules.

07852cabc1 feat(3088): move the gateway's nginx + dnsmasq onto the host
The gateway's nginx + dnsmasq no longer run in their own nspawn container.
`nix/host-modules/hive-gateway/default.nix` loses the
`containers.hive-gateway` wrapper and everything that existed only to punch
holes in it: `privateNetwork = false`, `CAP_NET_ADMIN`, five bind mounts,
its own `stateVersion`, `networking.firewall.enable = false`,
`networking.resolvconf.enable = false`, and the `hive-gateway-resolv`
path+service pair. 465 -> 303 lines.

The container never bought isolation here. It shared the host netns by
necessity — nginx binds the host's :80/:443, dnsmasq answers on the bridge —
so each of those settings was undoing a boundary the gateway could not
afford in the first place.

Four things made it more than a deletion, none of them visible in the nix
diff:

- The self-signed cert service also imports the hive CA leaf, so removing it
  with the container would have left nginx naming a missing cert file, which
  it refuses to load at all.
- The nginx reload is a hive-priv verb. It still needs root, but no longer
  for the reason its doc gave, and `--machine=` was both transport and
  scope — so the unit name is now hard-coded in the helper as the
  containment.
- The lifecycle verb named a container that stops existing.
- `journalctl -M hive-gateway` had no machine to enter.

Per the operator's ruling, the operator verb keeps working and agents lose
it. `InfraContainer` answered three questions that used to share an answer;
it now splits into `name()` (identity), `target()` (Container vs HostUnit),
`service_unit()` (the systemd unit), and `agent_restartable()`, which the
MCP restart path checks before the capability so the refusal cannot read as
"ask for infra_admin". `SIBLING_CONTAINERS` drops the gateway — it gates the
requests that name a container as a string — while `FromStr` still accepts
it, because that answers what a name is, not who may act on it. The
dashboard's gateway journal reads host journald filtered to `nginx.service`.

Prose was corrected where it only named a location, and re-argued where the
container was doing security work: a `0666` per-agent socket was safe
because only the gateway container had the directory bind-mounted. There is
no mount now, so the directory permissions are the whole of the access
control — the constraint holds, its mechanism doesn't.

Gate: nix fmt / clippy --all-targets -D warnings / cargo test all clean (710
tests); hivectl-cli.md regenerated from the clap tree. The nix eval was run
in both TLS shapes at this commit: every delta in the rendered
virtualHosts is one of the three intended path moves, dnsmasq settings are
byte-identical, and the absence probe flips true -> false with bindMounts
emptied.

80f16094f1 hive-sh4re: split inbox, container, journal, and schedule wire shapes into their own modules
Closes the #3110 split — lib.rs is now just the crate doc comment and
the pub mod list.

journal.rs's new doc comment fixes a pre-existing bug: the old
JournalPriority doc text in lib.rs was actually half Capability's doc
(a leftover from an earlier reorder that moved the code but not the
comment above it).

7c0d9d2379 wip(#3001): remove submit layer, rescue power ops into job_queue/power.rs
TREE IS RED ON PURPOSE — there is no compiling intermediate between
deleting submit and converting every caller. Checkpoint commit so the
work is durable; do not "fix" it by restoring submit.

Done:
- JobQueue::submit -> JobQueue::insert (no source/reason/container;
  returns the ids insert_job names).
- submit.rs deleted. Its 6 pure chain builders + 3 async *_many
  gatherers were NOT wrapper code and are rescued into
  job_queue/power.rs (templates.rs documents power ops as living
  outside it, because their shape needs a live is_running read).
- Converted: meta_inputs 1, topology 2, permissions 3, auto_update 2,
  actions 3, lifecycle_handlers 3.
- Dropped source/reason at every converted site: nothing ever read
  NodeKind::Dag's fields (only `{ .. }` matches exist), so they are
  write-only. Dead reason-only locals deleted; the boot sweep's summary
  became a tracing::info! rather than being lost.

Remaining: dashboard/lifecycle_ops 7, server.rs 7, and the test suite —
tests.rs has its own submit() helper whose u64 return is used as the
handle to navigate the inserted DAG, so those need a different way to
find nodes, not a mechanical port.

7ef0e8c788 jobq: key transient tombstones per pill, not per agent
Deletes `TransientState`, adds `transient_kind` to `TransientCleared`, and
fixes a crash misreport — three changes over the same functions.

`TransientState` was `RunningTransient` with `agent` dropped and
`takes_container_down` renamed; that rename was the only thing it did, and
its three consumers each read a disjoint subset. `transient_snapshot` now
returns `RunningTransient` directly.

`recent_transient` was keyed by agent alone and overwritten on each clear.
An agent can clear several pills in one grace window, so a `Prebuild`
(`takes_container_down = false`) landing after a `StopForUpdate` (`true`)
left the tombstone reading `false` and the crash watcher reported a
deliberate stop as a container crash. Keyed by `(agent, label)` now, with
`recent_transient_within` folding back per agent by OR — the same question
`crash_watch` asks of the active set.

`TransientCleared` gains the label for the same reason: a client holding
two open pills for one agent could not tell which one a clear referred to.

The out-of-band suppression guard has no node and so no label; it uses
`NO_NODE_LABEL`, angle-bracketed to stay out of the `NodeKind::as_str`
namespace.

684f6da78e jobq: rename the builder parameters too, not just the alias
Renaming `pub type Job` fixed the definition and left every use site
reading `b` and `job` — including `job: super::JobBuilder`, where the
parameter still asserted it was a job while its type said otherwise.
The propagation is what the issue was about, so the parameters are the
half that matters at a call site.

Two spots deliberately untouched: `auto_update`'s `sort_by(|a, b| …)`
comparator, and the prose that means the job *queue* (main.rs's
"Job-queue scheduler", scheduler.rs's "not this module's job any more",
the "grown job rejected" log).

315 tests pass unchanged.

379c9bb570 jobq: the core alias is a JobBuilder, not a Job
A JobBuilder holds pending nodes that are not in the graph yet — it is
the thing you declare into. Naming the alias Job claimed it was the work
itself, and the name propagated into every parameter derived from it
(job: super::Job in run_node read as if it carried the DAG).

Prose uses meaning the job *queue* are left alone: main.rs's "Job-queue
scheduler" comment and the docs/coordinator.md reference.

315 tests pass unchanged.

8ce265fdf0 jobq: a transient is any running node naming the agent
Per mara on #2822: status is the only test. The agent comes off the
node's own payload rather than a declared Resource::Agent edge, so the
lease-exempt kinds (Prebuild, MetaSync) that name an agent without
holding its lease now light a pill — they are work on that agent.

Dropping that test breaks the one-pill-per-agent invariant, since
lease-exemption is exactly what lets one DAG build for an agent while
another holds its lease. Everything keyed by agent alone had to follow:

- reconcile_transients keys (agent, label) via TransientSeen, so a
  second pill cannot evict the first — and cannot lose its
  takes_container_down, which the crash watcher reads at clear time.
- transient_snapshot returns a Vec per agent for the same reason. The
  collapse was silent: a Prebuild could evict a StopForUpdate and its
  deliberate_stop, making an intentional stop report as a crash.
- crash_watch asks whether ANY running node expects the container down.
- the dashboard renders one row per node instead of one per agent.

takes_container_down never reached the frontend; no wire change needed.

315 tests pass unchanged.

6899f574f6 jobq: templates swallow the DagSpec layer
DagSpec described the graph the templates were about to build, one layer
below the templates themselves. Per #2972 the templates should be that
unit, so the spec type is gone and every declarer writes onto the job
builder directly.

- delete DagSpec<F> and its hand-written Debug impl
- submit(source, reason, declare: impl FnOnce(&Job)) replaces the
  pre-built-spec signature; submit_and_emit follows
- all six templates take &Job; the Source is now the caller's to pass,
  which spawn and approval_deploy previously hardcoded while the other
  four did not
- power_dag dissolves into stop_nodes/start_nodes/restart_nodes, which
  borrow their targets instead of owning them

315 tests pass unchanged.

82ef06f445 refactor(#2949): kill Declare — a running node declares onto its own builder
A node no longer hands back a recipe for the scheduler to replay later. It
declares straight onto a builder it was given, and that builder is inserted
as part of completing the node.

Deleted: `pub type Declare`, `struct NodeOutput` (+ its hand-written `Debug`),
`JobQueue::append_subgraph`. Nothing added to `Dag` / `DagView`.

jobq gains `Scheduler::new_job()` (the only way to obtain a `JobBuilder`) and
`complete_growing(id, outcome, grown)`, which inserts under `id` and *then*
completes it, so a DAG cannot roll terminal while grown work is still pending.
`complete()` and `complete_growing()` share a private `finish()` rather than
one redirecting through the other. The DAG-gone guard lives beside the graph
now, where it cannot be skipped, instead of being a caller-side lookup.

The growth executors return data (`run_meta_lock -> (Vec<String>, RebuildOpts)`,
`run_reconcile -> Option<NodeKind>`) rather than taking the builder: a `&Job`
parameter is live for the whole function body, and `&RefCell<T>` is never
`Send`, so an async fn taking one cannot be spawned. `run_node` threads the
builder by value and hands it back.

A node can now declare work and then fail, which was previously inexpressible.
`grown` is dropped in that case — failure cancel-cascades downstream, so
inserting it would only add nodes to immediately cancel — and the log line
carries `grown_nodes` so the drop is visible.

58a9f218f2 job_queue: fix the boot sweep's lost declarations, drop the node wrapper
Two review findings on the resources-at-construction change.

argus: `workers::auto_update`'s boot sweep constructs nodes through
`templates::node` too, and it was not converted. With the kind-derived
declaration gone, its sweep `MetaLock` and its per-agent `Reconcile`
silently declared no resources at all — so a boot reconcile no longer
held the agent lease and could race another DAG's container ops, and the
sweep's meta commit could land inside another node's staged deploy
window. Nothing failed to compile: removing an implicit behaviour from a
helper is invisible at every call site that relied on it.

The declarations now live in a pure `boot_nodes`, split out of
`submit_boot_tree` so they can be exercised without a `Coordinator`.
That path is the only place job nodes are built outside `job_queue/`,
which is exactly why it had no coverage; `boot_sweep_nodes_declare_
their_own_resources` closes that, asserting against declared graph edges
rather than against the kind.

mara: `templates::node` is a redundant redirect now that it no longer
derives resources — deleted, and its 43 call sites use `Job::node`
directly. The reasoning it documented moved to the module docs of
`templates.rs` and `resource.rs`, which is where it stays true.

9c97365f8f refactor(job-queue): a job is a recipe, not a value you carry
Follows the jobq change: a builder can no longer be constructed or
inserted outside `hive_jobq`, so `DagSpec` cannot hold one. It carries a
`Declare` — `Box<dyn FnOnce(&Job) + Send>` — and the queue runs it
against a builder jobq owns, at the moment it inserts.

`NodeOutput.append_subgraph` becomes `Vec<Declare>` for the same reason,
and this is where the shape was always heading: that field's doc already
said an executor "cannot reach the queue, so it hands the declaration
back", while its type was a `Vec<Job>` the executor had built itself.
The rejected `build_nodes -> Vec<NodeSpec>` was the first version of that
escape hatch; a recipe is the last one, because there is no job-shaped
value to hand over at all.

Templates and the power-op assemblers move their owned data into the
closure and are otherwise unchanged — `rebuild_nodes`, `node` and the
tail helpers already took `&Job` and returned handles, so only each
template's outermost frame moved.

Two `Debug` impls are hand-written: a closure has nothing to show, and
its nodes do not exist until the queue runs it. `NodeOutput` reports how
many subgraphs were emitted, `DagSpec` its source and reason.

`append_subgraph`'s `is_empty()` early-return is gone — you cannot ask a
recipe whether it will declare anything without running it. It now
inserts and returns an empty id list if nothing was declared, which
takes the queue lock in a case that previously skipped it.

The two in-DAG-growth tests build `Declare`s now, so they exercise the
shape an executor actually produces rather than one only a test could
construct. 45 job-queue tests unchanged and passing.

e7c3cf5a3d refactor(job-queue): build DAGs by naming nodes, not counting them
Every template built a `Vec<NodeSpec>` whose edges and parents were
positional indices into that vector, so a shape was expressed as
arithmetic: `base + 1`, `stop_root + 2`, `sfu + 1`, and a
`reconcile_index()` helper that read the emitted vector's length to find
out where its own last node had landed. `concat_subgraphs` existed
solely to rebase one per-agent subgraph's indices onto another's.

Templates now declare into a `hive_jobq::JobBuilder` and hold the
handles they get back, so an edge names the node it waits on. The
arithmetic is gone, and with it:

- `NodeSpec` and the job-queue's own index-based `Dep`.
- `insert_group`'s index resolution — it wraps `Scheduler::insert_job`.
- `concat_subgraphs` — per-agent chains share one builder and each keeps
  its own root, so independence is structural rather than computed.
- `reconcile_index` and `dep_index`.
- `templates::validate` and its petgraph toposort. It rejected dangling
  deps and cycles; both are now unrepresentable, since a handle only
  exists for an already-declared node and every edge therefore points
  backwards. (petgraph stays in the tree for `agent_config::topology`.)

`NodeOutput.append_subgraph` becomes `Vec<Job>`: an executor cannot
reach the queue, so it hands back declarations and the scheduler inserts
them under its own lock. That is what the in-DAG growth path always
wanted — a transferable declaration, not a vector of specs.

Resource declaration is unchanged in behaviour: the `templates::node`
helper applies `NodeKind::resource_deps()` at the construction site, so
every node still declares what its kind needs. Moving that declaration
to the call sites is #2818's job; this leaves it one place to delete.

Three tests went with the guard they covered — they hand-built malformed
specs out of indices, which is the representation that made those shapes
possible. Two more now read a DAG's shape off the queue rather than out
of a spec vector, which is where it is observable. The remaining 45
job-queue tests are unchanged and still pass: lease serialization,
roll-up, cancel-cascade, in-DAG growth and per-agent concurrency all
behave as before.

44572d1e1a fix(#2911): keep the forge token out of argv
`forge_git_url` spliced `core:<token>@` between scheme and authority, and
that URL is a process argument. `/proc/<pid>/cmdline` is mode 0444 —
world-readable — so the core admin token, which provisions every agent's
forge account, was published to any local user for the lifetime of each
git child. Seven call sites built such a URL.

The credential now travels in the environment instead:
`git_command_authed` sets `http.extraHeader` via `GIT_CONFIG_*`, which
git reads exactly like a config file, and `/proc/<pid>/environ` is 0400 —
owner-only. Same credential, materially smaller audience. The remote is a
plain `http://forge/<org>/<repo>.git`, and `forge_git_url` no longer takes
a token, so the old shape cannot be rebuilt by accident.

`knowledge`'s clone was the one place a credentialed URL was stored as a
named remote — git persists the clone URL into `.git/config`, so the
token sat on disk and every later `pull` authenticated from there. That
is the case `forge::repos::push_config` documents as forbidden ("the
tokenised URL ... deliberately never stored as a named remote"). `pull`
now rewrites `origin` to the plain URL first, which also scrubs the
persisted token from existing deployments, and authenticates from the
environment when a token is available. The repo is public, so the pull
still works without one.

Three call sites also stopped spawning `Command::new("git")` directly,
so they honour the `HYPERHIVE_GIT` path the NixOS module bakes in and
the `kill_on_drop` every other git spawn gets.

The two URL-shape tests now assert the *absence* of a credential, and a
new one decodes the header back to `core:<token>` — without that, a
malformed header would leave every forge operation silently anonymous
with the other assertions still green.

e02ac1e86e refactor(#2916): drop the two obsolete startup migrations
Phase 4 (repoint every container onto `meta#<n>`) and phase 5 (rename
the `root` container to `h-root`) were marker-guarded one-shots for
layouts no live hive still has: containers are rendered onto `meta#<n>`
at creation, and the `h-` prefix has been the naming for far longer than
any deployment predates. A one-shot nobody can still trigger is dead
weight, so both are gone along with `repoint_container`,
`rename_manager_container`, `CONTAINER_TIMEOUT` and the two marker paths.

Phase 6 was not obsolete, only misplaced. Ruth's tool groups are now
seeded by `ensure_root_agent` on the one path that creates her, rather
than re-asserted on every hive-c0re boot. The skip-if-already-set guard
survives the move: a destroy+recreate under the same name must not reset
an operator's chosen group set back to MANAGER_DEFAULT.

That also settles a latent bug. Phase 4's marker check was a `return`,
not a skip, so on any hive carrying the marker phases 5 and 6 never ran
at all — the tool-group backfill, whose whole job was preventing a silent
privilege downgrade, has not executed here in a long time. Moving it to
create-time removes the question rather than answering it.

What stays is convergence: three unguarded, idempotent phases that re-run
each boot and no-op once their state is right. The module doc now names
the three categories so the next person can tell which kind they're
adding.

7f920718f2 refactor(#2815): drop the imperative transient path entirely
mara on !2910: "also remove imperative path for the things that are not
nodes yet, file follow up issue to fix that".

`TransientGuard`, the stored map and both manual set/clear are gone.
`transient_snapshot()` is derived and nothing else — destroy and
migration show no pill, because there is no node to derive one from. The
pill returns for free when they become nodes.

What those three guards were actually doing, though, was suppressing the
crash watcher, not drawing a pill. `migrate.rs` said so in its own
comment: without it, `crash_watch` fires `ContainerCrash` for every
migrated agent and the manager tries to recover containers that were
stopped on purpose. Destroy is the same — the container disappears
deliberately and nothing in the graph says so.

Deleting them outright would therefore have traded a dashboard pill for
false crash alerts on every destroy and every migration. So the
suppression survives as its own thing, `suppress_crash_watch`, with a
name that says what it is. It is still RAII, and still held for the
operation rather than stamped once, because the crash watcher's grace
window is finite and a destroy is not — a single tombstone would expire
mid-operation. The drop stamps the tombstone, covering the poll that
lands just after.

That leaves RAII in the codebase for exactly one purpose instead of two.
Untangling the pill from the suppression is what made the transient layer
deletable at all.

Follow-up issue for making destroy + migration real queue nodes to
follow; at that point this guard goes too.

Checked with clippy (`--all-targets -D warnings`), `cargo test -p
hive-c0re -p hive-jobq` (322 + 41 passed) and `nix fmt`.

d3d73b5ffb refactor(#2815): derive the transient pill from the running node
The dashboard pill was declared once per DAG at submit time, so a rebuild
reported `rebuilding` for its entire life — through the prebuild, the
stop, the swap, the tail and the reconcile. It named the intent of the
request, not what was happening.

It is now read off the nodes actually running. A node lights a pill when
it is `Running` and declares the agent's own resource. Declaring is the
test, not targeting: `Prebuild` and `MetaSync` name an agent but are
lease-exempt on purpose (the container keeps serving), so they must not
light one. It is also not the lease *owner* — `resource_state()` answers
"who holds the slot", which is a different question from "what is
running", and a descendant that borrows an ancestor's grant never
appears in that map.

`TransientKind` is gone entirely rather than being re-derived. The label
is the node's own wire tag (`NodeKind::as_str`) — the same vocabulary
`NodeView.kind` already ships, so a pill and a DAG node name an operation
identically and there is no second taxonomy to keep in step. Work with no
node behind it (destroy, migration) supplies its own literal.

`DagSpec::transient`, `Claim::transient`, `DagMeta::transient` and
`NodeKind::Dag`'s `transient` field all go with it.

## the safety half, which is deliberately not the display half

`crash_watch::is_deliberate_stop` used to match a `TransientKind` to
decide whether a vanished container was intentional or a crash. That made
a pill's display vocabulary decide an alerting question, so renaming or
adding a label would silently move the alerting boundary.

`TransientState` now carries two independent fields: `label` (rendered,
nothing branches on it) and `deliberate_stop` (read only by the crash
watcher). The producer sets the second, because the producer is the only
thing that knows — it is not recoverable from the first.

For queue work that value is `NodeKind::takes_container_down()`, and it
is emphatically not "holds a lease": `Create` and `Start` hold the
agent's lease exactly like `Stop` does, and a container dying *while
starting* is a real crash that must keep reporting as one. The default is
`false` on purpose — a wrong `false` costs a spurious crash event, a
wrong `true` swallows a real crash silently.

## known cost, accepted on the issue

A restart no longer reads `restarting`. No `NodeKind` is unique to a
restart — `restart_chain` reuses `Signal` / `StopForUpdate` / `Drain` /
`Reconcile` — because "restart" is a property of the DAG's shape, not of
any node. A restart now reads `signal` / `stop_for_update`, then the
agent returns.

`Start` / `Stop` / `PostSwap` run inside a lease-holding ancestor and
re-declare nothing, so they light no pill and the agent reads idle for
those windows. Closing that is the resources-where-constructed work
(#2818), not this change.

Checked with clippy (`--all-targets -D warnings`), `cargo test -p
hive-c0re -p hive-jobq` (321 + 40 passed) and `nix fmt`.

af2b1ce0e2 refactor(#2897): carry the meta-update inputs on the MetaLock node
Second of the `Dag` field removals, and the same shape as the first:
`DagSpec`/`NodeKind::Dag` carried an `inputs: Vec<String>` that exactly
one node ever read. Both reads live inside `run_meta_lock` — the
`meta::lock_update` call and the `meta_update_cascade_agents` fan-out —
so the list now rides `NodeKind::MetaLock` itself.

The executor stops touching `Claim` for this node entirely: its dispatch
arm already destructured `MetaLock { sweep, fanout }`, so `inputs` joins
them and the `claim` parameter, which had no other use, is gone.

Falls out of that:
- `Claim::inputs` and `DagMeta::inputs` delete.
- `dag_view`'s DAG-level projection onto the `MetaLock` node reads the
  payload instead. The wire `NodeView::inputs` is unchanged: still
  populated on the `meta_lock` node alone.
- the boot sweep names no inputs (it bumps `hyperhive` alone via
  `lock_update_hyperhive`), which the construction site now says out loud
  rather than leaving implicit in an empty DAG-level field.

Checked with clippy (`--all-targets -D warnings`), `cargo test -p
hive-c0re` (320 passed) and `nix fmt`. No option surface is touched, so
no nix-eval gate.

84aed5fb51 refactor(#2897): carry the approval id on the deploy nodes, not the Dag
`DagSpec`/`NodeKind::Dag` carried an `Option<i64>` approval id that four
deploy phases read back out through `Claim`, via a fallible helper whose
error ("approval deploy dag N has no approval_id") described a state the
type system should have forbidden. Two other templates (`spawn`,
`meta_update`) set the field for nothing: their approval is resolved by
the `ResolveApproval` tails, which already carry the id themselves.

So the id moves onto the nodes that actually need it —
`DeployWindow` / `MergeVerify` / `DeployApply` / `FinalizeDeploy` /
`DeployTail` each take an `i64`, the same way `ResolveApproval` always
has. `templates::approval_deploy` builds all of them in one place with
the value in hand, and `deploy_rebuild_nodes` takes it as a parameter so
the `FinalizeDeploy` it appends at runtime is constructed the same way.

Falls out of that:
- `deploy_approval_id` and its runtime error path delete; each executor
  takes the id from its own node payload at dispatch.
- `run_deploy_window` had nothing left to do but validate that id, so the
  node joins `Dag` on the shared no-op arm.
- `Claim::approval_id` and `DagMeta::approval_id` delete.
- `dag_view`'s DAG-level projection onto `DeployWindow` reads the payload
  instead. The wire `NodeView::approval_id` is unchanged: still set on
  the deploy root alone, so the dashboard still renders one approval link
  per DAG rather than one per phase.

No option surface is touched, so there is no nix-eval gate here; checked
with clippy (`--all-targets -D warnings`), `cargo test -p hive-c0re`
(320 passed) and `nix fmt`.

e8e6998ac5 refactor(#2756): replace the DAG terminal hook with real tail nodes
The queue carried a per-DAG `HookKind` that fired an inline side effect
from outside the graph when a container rolled up terminal. mara asked
three times why this could not be an ordinary node; the answer in the
code was a doc-comment claiming a node could not work, and it was wrong.

`DepWhen::AfterAny` already existed with two live users, and a weak edge
is satisfied by a `Cancelled` dep, so a tail node runs on success,
failure and cancel alike. What was genuinely missing was smaller than a
hook: a node had no way to learn how the work it followed ended.

So: `Claim` now carries `deps: Vec<DepOutcome>`, snapshotted at claim
time from the graph the scheduler already holds (no `hive-jobq` change).
`Claim::deps_state()` / `deps_error()` roll that up, and two new kinds
consume it — `ResolveApproval { approval_id }` and `EmitRebuilt { agent }`.
Templates append one as a group-root with `AfterAny` edges onto the DAG's
other group roots; a root's state is its subtree's roll-up, so that
covers every node without fanning out to each of them.

Deleted: `HookKind`, `DagSpec.hook`, `NodeKind::Dag.hook`, `DagMeta.hook`,
`TerminalDag`, `terminal_dag()`, `terminal_summary()`, `dag_agents()`,
`dag_rollup()`, `fire_terminal_hook()`, `run_terminal_hook()`,
`emit_rebuilt()`. `complete_node` returns `()`.

Load-bearing details:

- `JobQueue::cancel` spares tail nodes instead of cancelling the whole
  subtree, and returns `bool`. Without this a cancelled approval DAG
  would dangle its approval forever — the hazard `tests.rs` already
  named. The spared tail's deps are `Cancelled`, which satisfies its weak
  edge, so the scheduler claims it and it resolves the row as cancelled.
  `hive-jobq` anticipated exactly this: `cancel_node`'s doc already says
  to settle afterwards so "a weak-edge terminal node observing the
  cancellation" can advance.
- The existing `complete(container)` call after cancelling is kept and is
  deliberately a no-op when a tail was spared (a non-terminal child parks
  the container back in `Finishing`), so power ops still settle
  synchronously with no branch.
- `DeployTail` is NOT `is_tail()`: it does real compensating work, and a
  cancelled DAG has nothing to compensate.
- `exec::failure_reason` falls back to `first_error(dag_id)` because a
  group root that rolled up `Failed` from a child carries no error of its
  own — without it every tail-reported failure would lose its reason.
- `EmitRebuilt` is per agent, so a multi-agent DAG reports each agent's
  own outcome rather than painting all of them with the DAG roll-up.
- `ResolveApproval` is agentless: the approval row already names its
  agent, and that is also what lets one tail close a multi-agent DAG.

Transients-derived-from-running-nodes and the frontend's node-kind
strings stay out of this change; they touch iris's slice and review
better next to their own diff.

ca7146e4f0 refactor(#2756): declare the terminal hook instead of inferring it
`Template` was a DAG-level enum that three different things read back
out: `terminal_hook()` mapped it to a side effect, the retention pass
bucketed history by it, and a tracing field printed it. None of those
needed a *label* — they needed the two facts the label happened to
encode. So the enum was a lossy stand-in for intent, and every new DAG
shape had to pick the variant whose inferred behaviour matched, whether
or not the name fit (`reparent` rode `MetaUpdate` for exactly this
reason, with a 10-line comment apologising for it).

Replace the inference with a declaration: `DagSpec.hook:
Option<HookKind>`. Only the builder assembling a DAG knows why it did
so, so only the builder can say what should happen when it settles.
`run_terminal_hook` becomes a field read, and `reparent`'s apology
becomes `hook: None`.

Hook assignment is byte-identical to the old precedence rule
(`approval_id.is_some()` wins, then `Rebuild | PermChange`), checked
site by site; `meta_update` is the only builder with a variable
approval id and so the only remaining conditional.

Retention loses the per-template bucket with the enum that keyed it.
The dashboard renders one recent-builds list, so one flat newest-first
cap (`MAX_HISTORY_DAGS`) bounds it. `HISTORY_GRACE_SECS` goes too — it
existed to stop a burst of same-template DAGs evicting each other
inside one poll interval, which is not a failure mode a flat cap has.
That takes `snapshot_capped()` and the `snapshot_no_grace()` test hook
with it.

The queue is runtime-only (empty graph on boot), so the serde changes
carry no migration risk.

a5c321a1a0 feat(#2591): port hive-c0re job_queue onto the hive-jobq crate
Replace the in-tree scheduler with the domain-agnostic hive-jobq crate
(merged in #2615): parent-axis grouping + borrow/subtree-reservation
resource model + roll-up completion (State::Finishing).

Host adaptation:
- NodeSpec gains an explicit `parent` axis; templates declare grouping +
  sibling ordering directly (deps order execution, parent groups a subtree
  whose resource the descendants borrow).
- Rebuild is a nested two-root subtree: Prebuild (root, owns the build slot
  for the whole subtree, lease-exempt) -> StopForUpdate (child, owns the
  agent lease) -> Swap/PostSwap (children, borrow both); Reconcile is a
  separate top-level root (AfterAny Prebuild) so it survives the cancel-
  cascade of any failed step (recovery-start invariant) and converges to
  the persisted `wanted` on a fresh lease. This is the multi-root
  correction to the single-root-chain sketch: node0=root broke lease-
  exemption (hoisting the lease onto Prebuild) and recovery-reconcile
  (root failure cancels all children).
- Spawn / perm-change / power-ops (stop/start/restart) group-rooted the
  same way; per-agent power-op subgraphs stay independent roots so a
  multi-agent DAG runs them concurrently, each on its own lease.
- insert_group honours the explicit parent axis (no lease hoisting); the
  DAG terminal node deps AfterAny on every group root and runs once the
  whole op rolls up. Drop the old Graph::add_dep terminal wiring.

36/36 job_queue tests, full hive-c0re suite green, clippy --all-targets.

fbbd5d921c feat(#2485): remove vestigial Noop + StartupSweep residuals
Since the boot sweep (#2450) and meta-update cascade (#2476) became
single DAGs that grow subgraphs in-place, nothing constructs the old
fan-out anchors/parents anymore:

- NodeKind::Noop (the old boot_root grouping anchor) — no constructors.
- Template::StartupSweep / Source::StartupSweep (the old fan-out parent
  template + cascade-child source) — replaced by Template::Boot and
  Source::AutoUpdate/MetaUpdate respectively.

Drops the three variants + their as_str arms + the Noop executor arm, and
refreshes the stale fan-out/anchor doc comments (Boot/MetaUpdate/Source
docs, coordinator.md, dashboard.md). Frontend: the queue-kind glyph moves
from the dead startup_sweep to boot (which had none), and the dead
rqe-source-startup_sweep style is dropped.

No behaviour change — pure dead-variant removal.

edf9fd036e feat(#2453): remove DAG parent_id now that every op is one DAG
With the meta-update cascade (#2476) and startup sweep (#2450) folded
into single DAGs that grow per-agent subgraphs via append_subgraph,
nothing links parent/child DAGs anymore — parent_id is dead.

hive-c0re: drop parent_id from Dag/DagSpec (+ the DagView copy); delete
append_children and cancel_children (no callers); simplify trim_history
(no more terminal-parent-with-live-children guard — a one-big-DAG is
terminal only when its whole graph settles); drop the rebuild() parent_id
param; QueueDag returns just the polled DAG (no fan-out children to
gather). hive-sh4re: drop the DagView.parent_id wire field.

frontend: a multi-step op is one DAG now, so renderRebuildQueue drops the
childrenOf/orphans cross-DAG grouping and renders each entry flat; its
per-agent subgraphs render as nodes within the one row (split by deps).
Removed the dead rqe-child style + isChild plumbing.

Docs + the child-DAG queue tests updated/removed to match.
