Distinguish RecvError::Lagged from Closed in the build-log stream
loop: Lagged continues (next recv delivers the full accumulated delta
via saved cursors), Closed returns (shutdown path).
Clear pre.textContent and reset cursor lengths in es.onerror when
readyState is CONNECTING so auto-reconnect doesn't double-append the
replay from cursor=0.
Backend (hive-c0re):
- build_logs.rs: add tokio::sync::broadcast::Sender<i64> to BuildLogs;
append() and finish() notify subscribers after each sqlite write.
Add BuildLogProgress struct and get_progress(id, stdout_cursor,
stderr_cursor) for incremental delta reads.
- dashboard.rs: two new endpoints —
GET /api/build-logs/id/{id}/stream SSE; streams BuildLogFrame
{stdout_append, stderr_append, status?, done} deltas until the
build finishes or the browser disconnects. Backed by an mpsc
channel task that watches the per-build broadcast notifications.
GET /api/build-logs/id/{id}/raw text/plain download with
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename build-log-{agent}-{id}.txt
Frontend (dashboard):
- tabs.js: running builds (status === null) connect an EventSource to
/stream and append lines live; "live" badge pulses amber while active,
flips to ok/fail on done. Finished builds still use the JSON fetch path.
Collapsing a running panel closes the EventSource; re-expanding
reconnects. Adds a "⬇ raw" download link to every expanded row.
- dashboard.css: .build-logs-dl inline download link; .build-logs-live
live pulse @keyframes animation.
Docs: web-ui.md updated for all three new endpoints + behaviour.
Damocles's backend (c41bf1b) landed HYPERHIVE_HIVE_NAME / _SWARM_NAME
env vars and identity.rs accessors. This commit wires them into the two
web surfaces:
hive-c0re/dashboard.rs:
StateSnapshot gains `hive_name` + `swarm_name` (Option<String>),
populated from the env vars the c0re NixOS module injects.
hive-ag3nt/web_ui.rs:
Per-agent StateSnapshot gains the same two fields, populated from
crate::identity::hive_name() / swarm_name().
Dashboard frontend (index.html + tabs.js):
A `<p class="banner-thin" id="hive-identity">` sits above the tab
strip in the chrome. refreshState() populates it with "swarm / hive"
(or just "hive") when the fields are non-null, and updates
document.title to "<swarm>/<hive> // h1ve-c0re". No change to
chrome when both fields are null (backward compat).
Per-agent frontend (index.html + app.js + agent.css):
A hidden `.agent-hive-label` span under the title row shows the
swarm/hive label once setHeader() receives non-null names.
document.title is updated to "<label> // <hive_name>" when hive_name
is set, enabling browser-tab disambiguation when multiple hives are
open in parallel. Styled as a small uppercase purple-dim sub-label.
Wires the Phase 1 sqlite store into the dashboard HTTP layer so the
frontend can surface full build logs without hitting journald.
Two new read endpoints:
- GET /api/build-logs/{agent}?limit=N — Vec<BuildLogHeader> JSON,
newest first, default limit 10, server-side cap at 50.
- GET /api/build-logs/id/{id} — BuildLogFull JSON (header +
stdout + stderr), HTTP 404 on vacuum-reaped / unknown ids.
Agent-name validated ([a-z0-9_-], 1-63 chars) before the sqlite call.
Both handlers reach coord.build_logs (Arc<BuildLogs>) introduced in
the Phase 1 commit. Docs updated in docs/web-ui.md.
When `services.hyperhive.gateway.enable` is on (default), the c0re
NixOS module now sets `HIVE_GATEWAY_ENABLED=1` on the service env.
`/api/state` exposes the flag as `gateway_enabled`; the SW4RM tab's
container-row renderer flips three link sites (primary agent-name
link, favicon fetch, `container`-kind nav-strip links) from the
legacy `http://<host>:<port>/` direct TCP shape to same-origin
`/agent/<name>/` URLs — the gateway proxies them to the per-agent
harness via `agent-ports.json` or `agent-sockets.json` (#784 / #815).
Gateway-off deploys keep the direct TCP fallback so local-dev /
operator opt-out keeps working.
`forge`-kind nav-strip links still resolve against `:3000` (separate
sub-domain transition, tracked by `forge.behindGateway`);
`external`-kind links are already absolute.
Mirrors the `HIVE_MATRIX_GUI_ENABLED` env→snapshot-flag pattern.
Docs updated: `docs/web-ui.md::Container row` + new
`docs/gateway.md::Dashboard link shape` section.
mara on #638: in the dashboard's inputs section, `nixpkgs` appeared
under an `agent-*` path instead of `hyperhive/nixpkgs` where the
operator expects it.
Root cause (post-#632 follows refactor):
- meta's top-level `nixpkgs.follows = "hyperhive/nixpkgs"` is a
`follows` chain, rendered in `flake.lock` as an array — the
`String` extractor in `walk_meta_inputs` correctly skips it (can't
`nix flake update` a follows alias).
- That left the root-level recursion to find `nixpkgs` only through
some other input's subtree.
- Recursion order was the BTreeMap's alphabetical key order, so
`agent-z` (or any agent starting with a letter before `h`) got
walked first and claimed `nixpkgs` at `agent-z/nixpkgs`. Hyperhive's
subsequent walk skipped `nixpkgs` (already visited).
Fix: sort `to_recurse` so hyperhive's subtree is descended first,
matching the same "hyperhive first, then alpha" priority
`read_meta_inputs` already uses for the final output ordering. Now
`nixpkgs` is claimed under `hyperhive/nixpkgs` regardless of which
agents the operator has spawned.
Added regression test covering the exact post-#632 lock shape
(`["hyperhive", "nixpkgs"]` follows array at root, agent-z
alphabetically before hyperhive). Asserts the emitted path is
`hyperhive/nixpkgs` and that `agent-z/nixpkgs` is NOT emitted (the
spanning-tree visited set guarantees one claim per node).
Closes#638.
The naersk → crane swap in the parent commit flips clippy from
silently passing to actually failing on `-D warnings` (naersk's
`mode = "clippy"` mangled the `--` separator so the deny never took
effect). This commit clears the surfaced lints so the workspace
builds clean under the new enforcement — every fix is mechanical and
preserves behaviour. Tests still pass (160 across the workspace).
Auto-fixes via `cargo clippy --fix`:
- `doc_markdown` (19 sites): bare identifiers in doc comments
wrapped in backticks
- `format_in_format_args`, `explicit_into_iter_loop`,
`redundant_closure_for_method_calls`, `useless_conversion`, and
a few more — mechanical rewrites of the kind cargo can apply
safely.
Hand-fixed:
- `match_same_arms` (forge_notify::is_atx_heading): two arms returning
`true` collapsed into a single `matches!` pattern.
- `cast_sign_loss` + `format_push_string` (mcp.rs status formatter):
guarded `i64 → u64` through `u64::try_from(…).unwrap_or(0)` (status
timestamps are always positive in practice; clamp the skew edge to
0) and swapped `out.push_str(&format!(…))` for `write!` into the
buffer with an infallible-writer `let _ =`.
- `doc_lazy_continuation` in turn.rs + manager_server.rs + sh4re/lib.rs:
doc paragraphs that the markdown parser was treating as list-item
continuations got either a separating blank line or a `/`-for-`+`
word swap so the parser stops seeing a list.
- `unused_async` (manager_server::handle_request_schedule_prompt):
function has no `.await`; dropped the `async` and its `.await` call
site.
- `needless_pass_by_value` (scheduled_prompts::submit): take
`&NewSchedule` instead of moving the struct in; updated two prod
callers and eight test sites to pass references.
- `type_complexity` (approvals::mark_cancelled): hoisted the
7-tuple SELECT row shape into a `type CancelLookupRow = (…);` alias.
Allow-with-reason for intentional patterns:
- `option_option` (6 sites across dashboard / scheduled_prompts /
manager_server): `Option<Option<T>>` carries three-state PATCH
semantics (missing key = leave alone, `Some(None)` = clear,
`Some(Some(v))` = set). Collapsing to `Option<T>` loses the
"clear" state.
- `dead_code` (rebuild_queue::QueueKind::Destroy /
QueueSource::CrashRecover; topology::parent_of / default_seed):
wire-shape variants + API surfaces kept for the upcoming features
(#361 follow-ups, future `Destroy` queue routing, crash-recovery
path). Allowed at the variant / function level with the rationale
in `reason = "…"`.
- `too_many_lines` on three specific call-sites: a 117-line
exhaustive-variant test (dashboard_events::kind_tag_matches_…),
the meta-flake string template renderer
(meta::render_flake_with_lookup), and the notification poll loop
(forge_notify::poll_once) — splitting any of them would just hide
the contiguous shape they exist to keep visible.
`nix flake check` formatting target is still broken on main itself
(pre-existing nixfmt drift across ~28 files unrelated to this PR);
left alone here so the scope stays "crane port + lints the port
exposed" and the operator's review doesn't have to triage drive-by
nixfmt churn.
#446 (agent selection + bulk actions) already merged, which
removed the per-card R3ST4RT/ST0P/etc buttons entirely. So the
frontend half of the original #445 (lift the c.is_manager gate
around the per-card stop button) is now redundant — there ARE
no per-card buttons left, and the selection bar's ST0P button is
already manager-aware.
What remains and what this commit ships: the host-side guard in
`dashboard.rs::post_kill` that rejects stop on the manager with
"kill: refusing to stop the manager". Removed.
Rationale: hive-c0re owns the dashboard server, so stopping the
manager has no dashboard disruption. Per-agent approvals submitted
by other sub-agents still process through the host-side approval
queue without the manager up, and operator-driven meta-input
updates work from the dashboard either way. The MCP-surface
self-kill guard in `manager_server.rs::ManagerRequest::Kill` stays
in place: a manager calling Kill on its own container is
self-suicide mid-call, not a legitimate operator action; the
guard prevents that footgun.
Destroy / purge guards (`actions.rs:578` — "refusing to destroy
the manager") stay in place; mara's ask was specifically about
stop, and destroying the manager is a much bigger blast radius.
Phase 4 of #273 — the actual switch. Both axum routers now serve
their static surface via `tower_http::services::ServeDir` mounted
as a fallback service, reading the dist path from `HIVE_STATIC_DIR`
(set by Phase 3's NixOS module wiring).
Deletes:
- `hive-c0re/assets/{index.html, app.js, dashboard.css}`
- `hive-ag3nt/assets/{index.html, app.js, agent.css, stats.html,
stats.js, screen.html}`
- The whole `hive-fr0nt/` crate (workspace member dropped, both
hive-c0re and hive-ag3nt drop their `hive-fr0nt.workspace = true`
dep). Its contents now live as `@hive/shared` under
`frontend/packages/shared/`.
Rust changes:
- `hive-c0re/src/dashboard.rs`: remove `serve_index`, `serve_css`,
`serve_app_js`, `serve_shared_js`, `serve_marked_js`,
`serve_favicon` (all six `include_str!` handlers); replace their
routes with a single `.fallback_service(ServeDir::new(static_dir))`
on the router. Fail closed (anyhow::bail) if `HIVE_STATIC_DIR` is
unset or not a directory at startup.
- `hive-ag3nt/src/web_ui.rs`: remove `serve_index`, `serve_css`,
`serve_app_js`, `serve_shared_js`, `serve_marked_js`,
`serve_stats`, `serve_stats_js`, `serve_screen`; same
`fallback_service` pattern. `serve_icon` stays (consumes
`/etc/hyperhive/icon.svg` + `branding/hyperhive.svg` fallback,
neither of which lives under the frontend dist).
- `AgentLink` URLs for stats/screen switched from `/stats` / `/screen`
to `/stats.html` / `/screen.html` since ServeDir doesn't auto-
append the extension and the on-disk filename is the natural URL
post-cutover.
- `Cargo.toml` (workspace): drop `hive-fr0nt` member + workspace
dep, add `tower-http = { version = "0.6", features = ["fs"] }`.
- `hive-c0re/Cargo.toml` + `hive-ag3nt/Cargo.toml`: drop the
`hive-fr0nt.workspace = true` dep, add `tower-http.workspace =
true`.
Docs updated:
- `CLAUDE.md`: file map reflects `frontend/` (was `hive-fr0nt/` +
`assets/`) and the ServeDir/HIVE_STATIC_DIR shape.
- `docs/web-ui.md` 'Shape (shared by both)' section: describes the
ServeDir fallback + bundled-by-esbuild surface, no more
`include_str!` references.
- `docs/terminal-rendering.md`: src paths point at
`frontend/packages/{agent,shared}/src/`; marked is the npm dep,
not vendored UMD.
Validation:
- `cargo check --workspace` — clean (5 warnings, all pre-existing
in `rebuild_queue.rs`, none on changed files).
- `cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets` — clean (11 warnings,
same pre-existing source).
- `cd frontend && npm run build` from the prior commit's lockfile
produces the dist directories the new routers consume:
dashboard: `dist/{index.html, static/{app.js, dashboard.css}}`
agent: `dist/{index.html, stats.html, screen.html,
static/{app.js, stats.js, agent.css}}`
(favicon.svg lands in dashboard/ during the nix build —
`nix/frontend.nix` install phase copies `branding/hyperhive.svg`
there, since it's outside the npm tree.)
Refs #273.
dashboard.rs had the same 12-attempt cap shape as the per-agent
bind_with_retry. Apply the same fix — retry forever with the 2s-capped
backoff, WARN early then INFO once we're clearly stuck on a stale
socket, INFO on success when we did have to retry. Mirrors the
agent change in this PR.
The previous take put a shared NavLink wire type in hive-sh4re and
duplicated the link-building logic across crates. Per @mara on #326:
that doesn't fit the eventual frontend/backend split goal (#273).
The agent backend is the natural source of truth for what links its
own page exposes; hive-c0re just passes the list through to the
dashboard.
* hive-ag3nt/src/web_ui.rs: agent_links now also serves the
config-repo link + reads agent-declared dashboardLinks extras
from {state_dir}/hyperhive-dashboard-links.json. AgentLink gains a
kind enum (Container | Forge | External) so the frontend can build
the right href no matter which surface is rendering. The host
header is no longer used — URLs are paths for Container/Forge,
absolute for External.
* hive-c0re/src/dashboard.rs: new GET /api/agent/{name}/links route,
a same-origin proxy that fetches the agent's /api/state and
forwards just the links field. No shared wire type — hive-c0re
treats the payload as opaque JSON (serde_json::Value). All failure
modes degrade to an empty list so the dashboard still renders.
* hive-c0re/assets/app.js: container card head row gets an async-
populated icon-only nav strip from the proxy. The hardcoded stats
link, the standalone config-repo trigger, and the extras block are
gone. The deployed:<sha> chip stays — the agent harness can't know
its own deployed sha, so this chip is how the operator sees what's
live alongside the agent's (root-only) config link.
* hive-ag3nt/assets/app.js: agent page meta-links rendered via
el() / textContent (DOM build) so agent-declared icon / label / url
strings never reach innerHTML. kind-based href resolution mirrors
the dashboard side.
* docs/web-ui.md: dashboard + per-agent sections updated for the new
architecture.
Closes#262.
Remove the depth-2 cap in walk_meta_inputs so every fetched input
at every depth is surfaced, not just two levels (issue #275). The
uncapped walk needs a guard: a visited-node set makes it a spanning
tree — each fetched node walked once, at its shallowest path — so
shared subtrees don't re-walk and a cycle can't recurse forever.
A two-pass walk (claim a node's direct inputs before descending)
keeps shallow inputs at a shallow path.
Frontend: renderMetaInputs indents each row by its slash-path depth
and shows the leaf segment (full path on hover), plus a select-all /
select-none control so a long input list isn't ticked box by box.
post_meta_update returns 200 immediately and runs the nix flake
update + agent-rebuild ripple in a background task, so the META
INPUTS panel looked idle for the whole multi-minute window (#259).
Track in-flight runs with a Coordinator atomic counter, exposed via
an RAII MetaUpdateGuard held across run_meta_update. Surface it as
the meta_update_running snapshot field plus a MetaUpdateRunning SSE
event (flipped only when the count crosses 0, so concurrent runs
flip the flag once). The panel shows a pulsing in-progress banner
and disables the update button while a run is active.
Follow-up to #188. Two additions to the side-panel file preview:
- Markdown files get a rendered/plain tabbed view (was: always
rendered, no way to see source) — same tab pattern as SVG.
- Raster images (png/jpg/gif/webp/bmp/ico/avif) render as an
<img>. /api/state-file previously from_utf8_lossy-stringified
every file and served text/plain, which corrupts binary; it
now serves image files as raw bytes with their real
content-type (over-cap images are rejected, not truncated —
a clipped binary is corrupt).
buildSvgPanel generalised to buildTabbedPreview, shared by SVG +
markdown. .svg-host/.svg-render renamed .preview-host/.img-preview
since they now back images + md too.
closes#192
The main dashboard had no favicon — PR #145 added them to the
per-agent pages but missed hive-c0re's index. Serve branding/
hyperhive.svg at /favicon.svg and declare it in the index head.
The dashboard represents the whole hive, so it uses the project
mark (per-agent pages keep their own configurable /icon).
closes#173
- MessageEvent and DashboardEvent Sent/Delivered now carry id and in_reply_to
- broker.send() includes last_insert_rowid in the emitted event
- recent_all() and recv_batch() include id and in_reply_to from the DB
- deliver_reminders_batch() tracks per-row rowids within the transaction
- dashboard message flow: reply rows are indented with a border-left and a
clickable '↳ reply' tag that scroll-jumps + briefly highlights the parent
- per-agent inbox: reply messages get a '↳ reply ·' prefix and indent
