hive-priv applies only the path its last RealiseClosure returned for that agent. On drift the swap and create record the pins of the commit the closure was built from.
A rebuild or create downloads the closure the swarm built and applies it; with none to deploy it fails and changes nothing. hive-priv takes a store path instead of an internal/meta commit and builds nothing.
- clone each file with FICLONE, copy the data only where that fails
- skip the salvage when the copy would leave too little free space
- hold a per-container flock and one copy at a time across containers
- run WriteNspawnFlags on the blocking pool
hive-priv copies a stopped container's root to the agent's work dir and
renames it aside before passing nspawn --ephemeral; the agent's nix state
moves to the persistent profiles bind. Adds the agent-ephemeral-rootfs vm
test and a module-eval case for the nix state redirect.
hive-c0re copies the hive's store read token to /run/hyperhive/forge-hive-token
for nix's git credential helper, and no longer mints, reads or falls back to
the core admin token. drops the core user sweep, avatar upload, webhook
cleanup and hive-priv's RunForgeAdmin.
The hive no longer renders, locks or commits a meta flake. A rebuild's
MetaSync node picks the internal/meta commit and records it with the
hyperhive and config pins it holds; Prebuild, Swap and Create build from it,
and a head that does not pin the agent's current config fails the build
naming the agent. hive-priv's meta_rev is required.
Removed: meta.rs sync/lock/render, the manual-rebuild relock, the boot
sweep's hyperhive bump (MetaLock), the update-meta-inputs form and its
panel, MetaWindow, the hive's hyperhive_rev setting.
Kept: agent_set::refresh holds what sync_agents also did (topology.json, the
gateway's agent-socket map and nginx include), called from spawn, destroy,
rebuild and the migration.
The boot reconcile and the stale-start upgrade compare the agent's marker
with the hyperhive pin of internal/meta; the dashboard's deployed chip reads
the config marker a successful build writes.
A rebuild's MetaSync resolves the head of the swarm's internal/meta once and
records it; the prebuild and the swap build that flake instead of the hive's
own, and a first deploy does the same in Create. hive-priv takes the commit as
a validated meta_rev on UpdateContainer and CreateContainer and builds from its
own forge URL (HIVE_PRIV_FORGE_URL).
The head is used only when its flake lists the agent at the config commit the
forge's main is at; otherwise, and when the repo has no commit or this hive has
no core token file for nix's git, the hive renders locally as before.
hive-c0re's and hive-priv's gitconfig now share the forge credential helper and
rewrite the forge's https URLs to http, which hive-priv lacked.
HIVE_AGENT_NATS_URL now reaches each container in its hive facts, from
the host's deploy.hive-controller.queue.agentNatsUrl, instead of being
rendered into the meta flake. The agent option
services.hyperhive.agent.queue.natsUrl is removed; the harness unit
imports the queue credential whenever the token endpoint is set.
On deploy every agent rebuilds once (the rendered flake loses the
address), and the harness reads the address from the facts file
hive-priv writes before each start.
Refs #4857
The timeout kill was sound; the test's liveness probe was not. is_dead
read /proc/<pid>/stat and counted only state Z as dead. While init reaps
a zombie, the task shows state X (EXIT_DEAD) for a few microseconds
before its /proc entry goes away. When the poll loop's first probe saw Z
and the final assert's re-probe landed in that window and saw X, the
test failed at once with "grandchild <pid> outlived the timeout". CI run
#6059 shows this: the hive-priv binary finished in 2.00s, so the 5s poll
never ran.
is_dead now counts X as well, so it is monotone (running, Z, X, gone)
and the re-probe can no longer flip it back to alive. A unit test pins
the Z/X/S/R parsing.
Stress loop: the test binary filtered to this test, 2000 runs, 32 in
parallel, with 8 busy-loop CPU hogs. Before: 4/2000 failed, all with the
CI signature (finished in ~2.01s). After: 0/2000.
The three values that differ per host (deploy.hive-controller.dashboardPort,
claudeCodePackage and otel.extraResourceAttributes) no longer go into the
meta flake. hive-priv writes them into the container's
/etc/hyperhive-hive-facts with the hive name and domain, and the agent
reads them at boot:
- HIVE_DASHBOARD_PORT reaches every unit through the hive-facts generator;
the web UI still defaults to 7000 without it.
- `claude` on PATH is a wrapper that runs HYPERHIVE_CLAUDE_CODE_PATH's
claude when it is there, and the container's own claude-code otherwise.
The host's serve.json keeps gc-rooting the pinned build.
- OTEL_RESOURCE_ATTRIBUTES moves out of the units' Environment= into a
boot-time generator, which appends HYPERHIVE_OTEL_EXTRA_RESOURCE_ATTRIBUTES.
The agent options services.hyperhive.agent.claudeCodePath (now a removed
option) and otel.extraResourceAttributes go; only the meta render set them.
render_flake takes no HiveEnv any more, so the memory-cap render test and
render_hive_flake_at, which only existed to vary HiveEnv into the render,
go with it.
Refs #4857
No behaviour change: a pure move plus pub(crate) visibility. PrivRequest,
hive-priv-sock and every validation rule are untouched; the 58 tests move
next to the code they test, unchanged.
Why (#5476): the 28 root ops shared one 4.3k-line file, so no op family
could be reviewed on its own and every new root op landed there by default.
main.rs keeps the socket loop and the dispatch table. container (lifecycle),
container_config (nspawn flags, systemd drop-ins, daemon-reload), storage
(btrfs subvolumes, quotas, snapshots, du), files (pause marker, socket dir,
legacy tmpfiles) and infra (gateway nginx, forge admin, infra containers)
each carry their own validation; shared holds the agent-name checks, the
credential-name charset and StagedFile, plus the tests' scratch helpers
(one counter crate-wide, so test dirs stay unique).
hive-priv/README.md is in the diff because it named src/main.rs as the
home of container_flake_action and now describes the module layout.
The forge and matrix containers belong to the services host, not to a
hive. hive-priv's container-name validator still accepted hive-forge and
hive-matrix for WriteNspawnFlags, WriteResourceLimits and
RemoveServiceDropin; hive-c0re only ever sends h-<agent> names there.
- hive-priv-sock/src/lib.rs: drop SIBLING_CONTAINERS, its only user was
the validator, and its test.
- hive-priv/src/main.rs: the validator accepts only h-<name> and returns
the logical name, so write_resource_limits loses its non-h- fallback;
test that all three requests refuse both names.
- hive-priv/README.md, docs/trust-boundary/security.md: the allowlist
no longer lists the forge and matrix.
Fixes#5508
The forge and matrix are swarm services; per mara's ruling on #5475
(shape a) a hive no longer starts, stops or restarts them.
- hive-priv-sock: InfraContainer keeps only Gateway; InfraTarget goes,
service_unit maps the gateway to nginx.service directly. A
ControlInfraContainer naming Forge/Matrix fails to decode.
- hive-host-sock: LifecycleScope drops forge/matrix and refuses unknown
fields, so an older hivectl's --forge is an error rather than an
all-false scope meaning everything.
- hive-c0re: scoped_infra selects only the gateway.
- hivectl: --forge/--matrix removed from stop/start/restart.
- docs: services.md says how the forge and matrix are managed;
security.md, coordinator.md and hivectl-cli.md follow.
- hive-host-sock, hivectl/power.rs: Stop and RestartScoped doc comments name the gateway (host nginx.service), not infra containers.
Part of #5081 (slice S0-1a). An agent's closure no longer depends on the
name or domain of the hive that renders it.
- hive-priv writes /etc/hyperhive-hive-facts (HYPERHIVE_HIVE_NAME,
HYPERHIVE_HIVE_DOMAIN) into the container from the same WriteNspawnFlags
call that writes /etc/hyperhive-bridge-dns. hive-c0re passes the values
from its own unit env. hive-priv refuses a value outside [A-Za-z0-9._-].
- A systemd environment generator in the agent (hive-facts.nix) loads the
file into the container manager's environment, so every unit sees it,
as with the systemd.globalEnvironment entries the render used to emit.
It also builds CLAUDE_REMOTE_CONTROL_SESSION_NAME_PREFIX
(<hive>-<agent>), which left claude's managed settings.
- meta.rs stops forwarding HYPERHIVE_HIVE_{NAME,DOMAIN} and stops setting
services.hyperhive.agent.hiveName. The option is removed (both
spellings now fail with a removal message).
- otel.nix drops the agent's hive= resource label. The swarm collector
upserts hive per authenticated receiver (swarm-otel.nix resource/<h>,
on both the metrics and logs pipelines), so stored series keep it.
The otel first hop, otel enable and the dashboard port are still baked;
they are S0-1b.
Logs live at swarm level now (VictoriaLogs, read through Grafana
Explore). The hive dashboard's own journal viewer goes, with
everything that existed only to serve it:
- frontend: /logs.html, logs.js, logs.css, the H0M3 "Logs" tile and
the per-agent menu's "journal logs ->" link. The build-log list
rules BU1LDS used from logs.css move into builds.css.
- hive-c0re: GET /api/journal/{name} and GET /api/journal-host, and
priv_client::read_container_journal.
- hive-priv / hive-priv-sock: the ReadContainerJournal request, its
JournalQuery/JournalOutput wire types and the journalctl -M executor.
- nix: hive-c0re's systemd-journal supplementary group, whose only
reader was the journal-host handler.
- docs: the L0GS section, the API entry and the security table row.
Closes#5113Closes#3819
hive-c0re waited on hive-priv's answer with no timeout, so a hung
hive-priv would stall the disk sampler indefinitely. The wait is now
hive-priv's own 10 min bound plus a minute (the bound is shared as
MEASURE_AGENT_DISK_TIMEOUT); a timeout is an error, so the agent shows
unknown.
An agent with none of state/, work/ or the rootfs has no measurable
size. hive-priv now answers with an error for it instead of a total of
0, which read as a real measurement.
The disk sampler ran `du -sxb` as the unprivileged hive-core user over
each agent's state/, work/ and container rootfs. hive-core cannot read
the rootfs or all of the agent-owned files, so `du` failed and each
failed path silently counted as 0: the dashboard showed a few MB for
agents using over 13 GB.
Add a hive-priv `MeasureAgentDisk { agent_name }` op. hive-priv
validates the name, derives the three paths itself (the request carries
no path), skips the ones that don't exist, and runs one
`du -s -x -b -c -P` as root with a 10 min timeout. A timeout, a non-zero
exit or output without a `total` line is an error.
hive-c0re calls it every 30 min instead of running `du` every 5 min:
each pass walks every agent's full tree as root on the disk the agents
work on, and the sizes move slowly. A failed measurement is cached as
None, so `disk_bytes` is null, the OTel storage.usage sample is omitted
and the dashboard shows "unknown", never 0.
`Coordinator::agent_work_dir` had no other caller and is removed.
Closes#4956
The CI runner was a hive deploy module: hive-ci.nix ran it beside the
forge, and hive-c0re registered it through the forge's admin API with
the `core` token, writing the registration token through hive-priv. It
could only run on the forge's host, and it kept an admin-scoped forge
token on a hive.
Now the runner is a swarm service:
- swarm-ci-runner.nix runs it in a `swarm-ci-runner` container on the
host that sets deploy.ci-runner.enable, reaching the forge by name.
It needs neither the forge nor a hive there.
- swarm-controller reads the forge's runner registration token with its
own admin token and writes it to swarm/services/ci-runner/
registration-token whenever it differs from what it last wrote. Its
grant on that path is create/update only.
- The runner's own leaf (CN swarm-ci-runner, role and policy of the same
name) reads that one path. swarm-bao-ci-runner.service fetches it into
the runner's EnvironmentFile and restarts the runner on a change.
- A pre-start step removes .runner when the daemon's journal since its
last start holds Forgejo's "unregistered runner" refusal (the daemon
exits 1 when its startup Declare gets it), or when .runner names
another forge address; upstream's pre-start step then registers again.
Removed from the hive side: hive-ci.nix and deploy.forgejo.ci.*,
forge/ci_runner.rs, PrivRequest::RegisterCiRunner and its handler and
ReadWritePaths entry, InfraContainer::Ci with hivectl's --ci and the
dashboard's hive-ci journal entry, HYPERHIVE_FORGE_CI_ENABLED, and
read:admin,write:admin from CORE_TOKEN_SCOPES: nothing else in hive-c0re
calls /api/v1/admin/*. The old ci options, under both swarm.forge.ci and
deploy.forgejo.ci, now fail evaluation naming deploy.ci-runner.
The forge's half of the old ci.enable, the actions/checkout mirror and
DEFAULT_ACTIONS_URL = self, is deploy.forgejo.actionsFromSelf.
Closes#4954
An operator links an agent's GitHub personal access token in the swarm UI
(LinkGithubAccountForm, "link github account" on /agents). swarm-controller's
PUT /api/hives/{hive}/agents/{agent}/github-account stores it at
swarm/agents/<agent>/github-token (swarm_secret_client::github), a flat leaf
under the agent's prefix that the agent's existing read grant already covers:
no policy change, and no list grant, since there is one token per agent.
In the agent, hive-agent-github-token (oneshot + 2-minute timer, as the agent
user, under its own store certificate, ordered before hive-github-notify)
reads that path and writes <state>/github-token, 0600 and agent-owned, the
file the gh wrapper, git credential helper and hive-github-notify already
read. It replaces the file by rename only when the bytes changed and never
deletes it: a hive-written github-token stays until a token is linked in the
swarm UI. It is installed only with a store address and
services.hyperhive.agent.github.enable.
Removed: the dashboard's CR3D3NTIALS page (credentials.html/js/css, its
build entries and H0M3 tile; GITHUB was its only tab), hive-c0re's
dashboard/matrix_accounts.rs with GET/POST /api/github-account,
priv_client::write_agent_github_token, the host socket's
SetAgentGithubToken and `hivectl github set-token`, and hive-priv's
WriteAgentGithubToken with write_agent_state_file, its only caller gone.
Docs: integrations/github.md and swarm/ui.md describe the swarm path,
swarm/credentials.md gains the store-path row, and the hive UI docs,
hivectl docs and security.md's hive-priv table drop the removed pieces.
Closes#4347
An operator now links an agent's external forge account (label, base URL,
token) in the swarm UI. swarm-controller stores it at
swarm/agents/<agent>/forge/<label>. There is no index: the store's
listing of the agent's forge/ directory is the set of accounts.
In the agent, hive-agent-forge-accounts (oneshot + 2-minute timer, as
the agent user, under its own store certificate) lists
swarm/agents/<agent>/forge/ with the `list` #4866 grants an agent on its
own metadata subtree, reads each account, and writes
<state>/forge-<label>-token and forge-<label>.json in the names and shape
hive-forge -f already reads. An empty listing (a 404, which `bao kv list
-format=json` answers with `{}` and an empty stderr) is zero accounts; a
denial or an unreachable store fails the unit. It never deletes: files
for labels not listed, including ones the hive wrote, stay as they are.
Removed: the dashboard FORGES tab (credentials.js/html section and its
CSS), hive-c0re's extra_forges.rs and its routes, priv_client's
extra-forge calls, and hive-priv's WriteAgentExtraForgeAccount /
DeleteAgentExtraForgeAccount with their helpers. The GITHUB tab and
WriteAgentGithubToken stay.
Also: persistence.md's matrix avatar note names the exit-75 restart on a
changed account listing, not the dashboard, as what brings a linked
account up.
Refs #4348
hive-matrix-daemon now learns which external matrix accounts it has from
the swarm secret store, under the agent's own certificate, and the hive
push chain for matrix is gone.
The daemon lists swarm/agents/<agent>/matrix/ (the `list` its policy
grants on its own metadata subtree), reads each account's homeserver
from its credential, and brings the accounts up with their tokens from
the store. Every two minutes it lists again and exits with 75 when the
set of linked accounts changed; the unit restarts on 75 without counting
a failure. A listed name whose credential reads as absent is skipped and
logged once. At start it removes the matrix-token-<a> /
matrix-account-<a>.json pairs a hive delivered (a sidecar marks a pair
as delivered; a declared tokenFile keeps its token).
Removed: CredentialNotice and the $SWARM.credential.* subject and NATS
grant, the controller's publish and its queue precondition on the PUT
route, hive-c0re's credential subscription arm and workers/credential.rs,
priv_client::write_agent_matrix_token, hive-priv's WriteAgentMatrixToken
and its helpers, and the daemon's state-dir account discovery.
Kept: WriteAgentGithubToken and the external-forge path
(WriteAgentExtraForgeAccount, extra_forges.rs) are untouched, and a
declared matrixAccounts tokenFile is still read when the store has no
token for that account.
Refs #4348
Its only client was hive-c0re's matrix-account-login handler, removed
earlier on this branch, so nothing sends `restart_matrix_daemon` any
more. Drops the `PrivRequest` variant, the hive-priv handler and its
`systemctl --machine=h-<agent> restart hive-matrix-daemon.service`
helper, and the row in the hive-priv op table in security.md.
`PrivRequest` is internally tagged by `op` name, so no other variant's
encoding changes. A new token file still re-fires the daemon through
its `matrix-token*` path unit.
Refs #4348
/etc/tmpfiles.d/hyperhive-agents.conf was a boot-time backstop (#2290)
that pre-created every agent's bind sources. The start preamble already
creates them for every c0re-driven start, and on this host only hive-c0re
starts agent containers. The file was also the reason the socket dir's
owner had to be declared there, which is how it spent its life at
`0777 root root` whenever the uid could not be resolved (#4742).
- hive-priv gains `EnsureAgentSocketDir { name }`, called from
`set_nspawn_flags` in every start path. It creates
`/run/hive-agent/<name>` `0751 root:root` with mkdirat relative to an
O_DIRECTORY|O_NOFOLLOW fd for the parent. An existing entry has to be a
directory (fstatat AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW); anything else is refused, and a
directory is left alone. hive-c0re's own create_dir_all went: its /run
is read-only under ProtectSystem=strict.
- The container's `hive-agent-user-migrate` activation chowns that dir to
the agent user and sets 0751, the same way it already handles state/ and
harness/. It refuses a symlink or non-directory there, since `test -d`
and chmod follow links. No host-side passwd parse, and no window where
the dir is world-writable.
- `/run/hyperhive/agents/<name>` stays created by hive-c0re itself
(`ensure_agent_runtime_dir`). It holds the `mcp.sock` that hive-c0re
binds as hive-core, so it must not become root- or agent-owned.
- The `/run/hive-agent` parent is declared in hive-priv.nix, `0755
root:root`, instead of hive-gateway's hive-core rule. hive-priv is its
only writer now, and hive-priv's ReadWritePaths needs it to exist.
- The manager start in `ensure_root_agent` now goes through
`converge_start_preamble` + `start_with_fallback`. It was a bare start,
so after a reboot the manager's bind sources existed only because of the
tmpfiles file, and its limits drop-in did not exist at all.
- Removed: `sync_tmpfiles`, `agent_uid_gid` / `parse_passwd_uid_gid`,
`priv_client::sync_agent_tmpfiles`, `AgentTmpfilesEntry`, the tmpfiles
body builder and their tests, plus the three call sites.
- Legacy: hive-priv unlinks the file at every start, ignoring ENOENT.
`SyncAgentTmpfiles` stays one release as a payload-ignoring variant that
does the same unlink and returns Ok, for an older hive-c0re.
Salvaged from #4752: the boundary.md correction that nginx only dials,
because ProtectSystem=strict makes its /run read-only.
Behaviour change: a manual `nixos-container start h-<name>` right after a
reboot, before hive-c0re has started that agent, now fails on a missing
bind source instead of starting.
Closes#4742
Every file hive-priv writes for another reader now goes through one
StagedFile: a temp with a unique dot-prefixed `.partial` name in the
destination directory, created O_EXCL|O_NOFOLLOW at its final mode
(and owner, where one is set), fsynced, renamed onto the final name
relative to a directory fd, then the directory fsynced. Dropping it
unpublished unlinks the temp.
- write_resource_limits wrote its systemd drop-in in place, so a
concurrent daemon-reload could load a truncated file.
- sync_agent_tmpfiles staged through a fixed `.tmp` name, so two
overlapping syncs shared one inode and one could publish the other's
bytes, or a mix.
- write_nspawn_flags rewrote /etc/nixos-containers/<c>.conf in place;
it now keeps the file's existing owner and mode.
- write_agent_dir_file (agent tokens, sidecars, pause marker) already
renamed, but through a fixed temp opened O_TRUNC, with no fsync.
- write_bridge_dns_marker_in truncated and wrote the marker in place;
a leaf the container planted (symlink, FIFO) is now replaced by the
rename instead of refused.
- register_ci_runner must keep writing in place (nspawn pins the
bind-mounted inode); it now creates the file 0600 when the tmpfiles
seed is missing, instead of at the umask's mode until the chmod.
nix_build_toplevel now runs nix as its own process-group leader and,
after one hour, SIGKILLs the group and fails with "timed out after
3600s". One hour is four times CI's observed cold-cache flake check.
Refs #4723
Delete ensure_user_for and mint_and_persist_agent_token, the user step
of sync_agent (the per-rebuild re-mint, #4644) and of
forge_after_first_spawn, and the hive-priv WriteAgentForgeToken request
that wrote the token into the agent's state dir. hivectl forge
create-user now refuses an agent and points at swarmctl agent
mint-forge-token. mint_token, ensure_user_exists and TOKEN_SCOPES stay:
provision_user_token and the core bootstrap still call them.
Refs #3782
The comment above the bail! named the gap itself: stderr went through
redact_secret_line, but args.join(" ") did not. hive-c0re passes a
live --password value as an argument on user create and
change-password, so any non-zero forgejo admin exit put the plaintext
password in the error string, and from there into hive-c0re's warn!
log (journal + VictoriaLogs) and hivectl's returned error.
Add describe_forge_admin, a pure function that names the invocation by
its leading verb path and stops at the first flag, same approach as
hive-c0re's own describe_forge_admin (forge/mod.rs, from #2936) and
for the same reason: the verbs are a closed set this crate chooses,
argument values never are, so an allowlist over shape excludes any
future secret-bearing flag by construction instead of by someone
remembering to redact its value.
Unit tests cover: a --password value dropped, the --password=value
form also dropped (it starts with '-', so the take_while excludes the
whole argument), and a control that the verb path still appears.
Closes#4670.
send_agent_snapshot_to_file created `dest` with create_new(true) before
checking whether the parent snapshot exists, and left dest behind on any
spawn()/wait_with_output() failure too. Cleanup only ran on the one
remaining path: btrfs send spawning fine and exiting non-zero.
Every other failure listed in the wire doc left a zero-byte export, and
because dest already existed, a retry against the same --dest always hit
the no-overwrite guard — the only way out was an operator manually
removing the file.
Fixes#4687.
- check_send_snapshot_preconditions() validates the snapshot and its
optional parent before dest is touched at all.
- open_export_dest() combines that check with the create_new open, so the
ordering can't drift apart again, and is unit-testable without btrfs.
- PartialExportGuard removes dest on drop unless disarmed, covering every
failure path after dest is created (including the spawn/wait `?`s that
previously leaked it), not just the btrfs-exit-nonzero case.
The marker lives in the container's own /etc, which root inside the
container controls, and hive-priv writes it as host root. The write
followed a symlink at the leaf and at etc, so an absolute symlink
planted in the container redirected a host-root truncate-and-write to a
host path.
Open etc with O_DIRECTORY|O_NOFOLLOW and the leaf relative to that fd
with O_NOFOLLOW, and require a regular file (opened O_NONBLOCK so a
FIFO cannot hang the helper). The marker keeps mode 0644.

- hive-c0re::webhook_secret::verify_signature — the HMAC comparison
verify_hmac (the only gate on the public webhook endpoint) delegates
to. Correct-signature and mismatched-signature (wrong secret, tampered
body) cases.
- hive-forge credential-helper get (host= check) — subprocess
integration tests since the check is inlined in run(), which reads
real stdin/env and prints real stdout. Host mismatch (error, token
withheld), host match (credentials printed), and no host= line
(backwards compat) cases.
- hive-priv::{validate_credential_name, validate_snapshot_name,

Empty/charset/dot/slash rejection, hive- prefix requirement, and
./../slash rejection respectively.
swarm-logs covers every host-tier unit this tool could reach, so the
second, capability-gated path into host journald earns nothing and is
removed outright rather than disabled behind a flag.
Removed end to end: the MCP tool definition + handler, the
GetHostJournal/HostJournal wire variants, hive-c0re's
dispatch_host_journal handler, the ReadHostJournal capability, and the
harness-side capability->--allowedTools gate. get_host_journal was the
only capability that mapped to an MCP tool, so allowed_capability_tools
could only ever return an empty vec; it goes too rather than linger as a
function that provably does nothing.
capabilities::has_cap/caps_for stay: #4624 gave ManageRootAgent's
bind-mount enforcement (hive-c0re/src/lifecycle/host_config.rs) a
second caller of has_cap, so they're no longer callerless once this
lands on top of it.
hive-sh4re's journal module (JournalPriority) had no consumer outside
this tool and is deleted.
An existing capabilities.json still naming read_host_journal does not
error: capabilities::prune_unknown drops unrecognised names with a
warn!, and an agent left with no capabilities has its entry removed. No
migration step is needed.
Untouched: hive-c0re/src/dashboard/journal.rs's
read_host_journal_response, which matches the name but is the private
helper behind the operator-only GET /api/journal-host dashboard route
and carries no capability check.
meta.rs writes each agent's flake, and it still named the pre-move
`hyperhive.*` paths — so every agent rebuild would print a rename
deprecation warning about a line no human wrote and no operator could fix.
A warning nobody can act on trains everyone to ignore the ones that matter,
which is the whole value of the alias shims.
Repoints the FORWARDED_VAR_OPTIONS table and every other emitted option
assignment (otel.*, docs.source, claudeCodePath, github.enable, user.name,
claudeMemoryMaxBytes) to `services.hyperhive.agent.*`, with the test
expectations that pin the rendered text. The flake input named `hyperhive`
(`hyperhive.url`, `hyperhive.inputs.nixpkgs.follows`,
`hyperhive.nixosConfigurations.*`), hive-tier `services.hyperhive.*` paths,
and the `@hyperhive.local` git identity share the word and are untouched.
Also repoints the same option paths where they appear in comments, rustdoc
and runtime message strings across the other crates — a refusal message
naming `hyperhive.allowedRecipients` sends an operator to a path that will
stop existing. Prose under docs/ is deliberately not in this commit.
Refs #4473
#4195 fixed `d /run/hyperhive` to 0751, matching hive-c0re.service's own
RuntimeDirectoryMode and docs/trust-boundary/boundary.md. Nothing stops
it drifting back: the mode is a string literal inside a function that
writes a file and then shells out to systemd-tmpfiles, and a test can do
neither of those things.
`agent_tmpfiles_content` splits the pure content builder out so the modes
can be asserted at all. Two tests:
- /run/hyperhive is 0751, and explicitly NOT 0750 — the regression #4195
fixed. 0750 denies the `o=--x` traversal a `hive-admin` member who is
not in `hive-core` needs to reach host.sock, before the socket's own
0660 gate is ever consulted.
- the per-agent socket dir line, and that the body grows with the roster.
A mode nobody can assert is a mode that drifts. This adds no behaviour
change of its own; it pins the one #4195 landed.
